We were visiting from Toronto to celebrate my mother's 82nd birthday & enjoyed her birthday dinner at Ferrerira. All the staff were most welcoming & made my mother's evening so special. We were fortunate to have a table by the kitchen & watched the chefs work their magic & appreciated their efforts in the fine details in preparing the dishes. We all had seafood & found the portions a good size but more importantly were fresh & delicious! The sardine & scallop ceviche apps should not be missed. The fresh grilled fish of the day was simple but so tasty & the bouillabaisse was cooked to perfection. Nicole, our server, was absolutely lovely! She was so kind to our family & provided dessert for our table. My mother was so touched by this gesture. We would like to thank the Ferreria team for going above & beyond to make my mother's Montreal birthday such a memorable one. Merci!View more

Not enough praising for this gem!! I have not been wowed by a restaurant this way since April 2023. Service is absolutely top top notch, attentive to the slightest details. Wine list is impressive. Cocktails are also crafted quasi perfection (I'm a big bartending aficionado & love my big ice cubes), that aside cocktails are excellent. Food... EVERYTHING is excellent. Went with a big foodie party & we love sharing si got to try multiple things, the octopus both as appetizer & main, the sardines, the cod cake, the duck with risotto you name it! & the desserts!!!! Their pasteis de nata, the mouse etc etc are amazing, they have a great skating dessert degustation plate highly recommended. Loved the open kitchen behind glass with everyone moving in full sync. Top notch experience. Had the oysters, blackened sea bass, & signature cod. Both fishes were melt in your mouth fresh. Oysters were perfection. They made us a free dessert in celebration of our anniversary. Ferreira is the finest in Montreal.View more

I visited McGill University in early November of 2024. A couple of university professors took me to Ferreira for dinner as I told them earlier that I liked seafood. There was a lot of options even among seafood. I ordered a salmon dish. The others ordered a variety of dishes. The dishes were plentiful. Later, we ordered a sampler of desserts. All dishes were very tasty. Overall, it was a very good dinner.View more

We were guests at a private event in the open-kitchen dining room on the mezzanine. The staff at this fine-dining restaurant was outstanding. Once again, we were served by Fernando. Whenever Fernando was around, we dined splendidly. He had carte blanche for the amuses-bouches, appetizers, & dessert. As usual, he dazzled us with an array of starters: sardine filets, black cod cake, grilled squid, crispy octopus, smoked eggplant, Senhor José's homemade smoked salmon, &, not to be forgotten, the Joselito Ham which was incredibly delicious & melted in the mouth. For the main courses, my wife selected the "Porcini-crusted roasted black cod," while I opted for the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked rare as requested, juicy with a crust. For the wine, I wanted to experience the wines from the owner's Portuguese vineyard. Fernando recommended a reserved bottle that was not listed on the menu. For dessert, we enjoyed the famous pastéis de nata, chocolate mousse, fartura de feira, & sorbet. To cap off the meal, we were treated to a complimentary shooter. The bill was considerably steep, but the meal was absolutely incredible & memorable.View more

I just had the best time at Cafe Ferreira for a work event! We came in at 9 PM with a group of 10, & we were treated to a fabulous table d'hote menu featuring steak, prawns, veggies, & mushroom risotto. Everything was served buffet style, which was so convenient & fun, & it even came with dessert! I have to say, the prawns & the risotto were definitely my favorites - they were absolutely delicious! The service was amazing, too; the staff was super attentive & always there for refills. Overall, it was such a great spot for our group event, & I can't recommend it enough!View more

This is a great place! The staff is pleasant & has great suggestions for dinner, wine, & dessert. The food is cooked perfectly, so delicious! I had the halibut with couscous & vegetables, everything was cooked to perfection, & the portion size was perfect. Dessert was strawberry & mango sorbet with fruit.View more

It was a very busy Friday night when we arrived. Shortly after we got seated, our waitress Nicole kindly went over their daily specials & answered our questions with patience since it was our first visit there. She was knowledgeable, attentive & pleasant, so great first impression! We ordered a half dozen oysters, fish & seafood bouillabaisse & seafood rice casserole, with a tiger prawn for each. The texture & flavors are simply perfect & original, without being overpowered by the sauce. We were absolutely amazed by the quality & quantity of both dishes! Had dinner here last night on recommendations from a friend. Decor is awesome, very inviting. Waiter was knowledgeable & super helpful. Menu is Portuguese seafood oriented & small but many specials greatly expanded it. Wine list is impressive although not many bottles below $100. Had two restaurant standards: the black cod in port reduction & the bouillabaisse, both outstanding, accompanied by a slightly spicy dry Douro white wine. Pastais de nata for dessert that was better than what we found in Lisbon. Overall outstanding!View more

We flew to Mtl from Toronto for my birthday in January. Made a reso & told them we're flying in to spend my bday dinner at Café Ferreira & it was fabulous! They wished me a happy birthday & were so sweet. We started with the grilled sardines (so yummy, we always have them) & a glass of champagne! Them moved on to the fish filet of the day (never dissapoints it was amazing) with the perfect Portuguese wine recommended by our wait person. & she surprised us with a selection of miniature version of their most popular desserts, on the house & more birthday wishes. This is THE best seafood restaurant in Mtl...I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is chic yet not intimidating at all, the food is fabulous & the service is exceptional! In a city where good food is the norm, Café Ferreira's food & service is hors pairs!View more

Funny story. I was with a visitor, & it was time to eat but so late that many places were closed. I did a quick Google search as we wandered in the rain for a nearby spot that was decent but affordable. I chose this establishment, as I recognized the name & assumed that as it was Ferreira CAFÉ, that it was the simplified bistro/café within the Ferreira restaurant group. I was expecting a small selection of soups, salads, paninis, viennoisseries, coffee. While I might have gotten clued in when we were asked if we had had reservations, I only fully realized my enormous mistake once we were smoothly seated, our wet coats taken to the cloak room, & I opened the menu & started examining it. 🫠😆 Omg. I was mortified. I am currently at a point in my life where I am conserving the last few dollars on my Starbucks account as a special treat for myself for around the Winter Holidays. I am not at a point in my life where I can casually wander into one of Montreal's most famous fine dining experiences. Fortunately, it was simply funny, & we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a pleasantrestaurantwith excellent service. I ordered the bread basket... in part because I actually wasn't very hungry, & also because I wasso mortified & it was $5. It was a small sliced fresh crusty sourdough roll with a wonderful fluffy, soft crumb, served to perfection with little cups of herbaceous olive oil & seasoned olives. We shared the tasting dessert plate of their Portugese specialties, which was simply everything I could have possibly wanted, tasty & beautifully presented. Rich, creamy chocolate mousse, delicate rice pudding, warm churros. Perfection. Not only do I have a new amusing vignette to share in conversation, but I have finally been to the one & only Ferreira Café. Which is not a café. Don't make my mistake!View more

This place was great! The food was fresh & delicious & the service was more than excellent! Everyone was nice & they explained to us the menu with patience! The wine bottles are cheaper compared to other restaurants around the neighborhood Also, I loved how fresh the seafood was & how they can cook certain plates to your liking too! via LibroEn général la soirée à 4 s'est bien passée mais malheureusement le service a laissé à désirer. Mon conjoint s'est vu retirer son assiette d'entrée alors qu'il n'avait pas fini sa dernière bouchée. Le service était d'ailleurs trop pressant. Mais surtout deux des plats principaux étaient tièdes & pour un troisième plat, l'assiette fournie pour manger le riz aux fruits de mer était glaciale, faisant en sorte que le plat a refroidi très rapidement après le transfert de la casserole à l'assiette. Nous nous sommes plaints de la situation & on nous a offert de refaire les deux plats tièdes mais cela aurait désynchroniser le repas. On nous a offert le dessert en compensation. Bien que cela ait été apprécié, ce n'était pas ce que nous attendions de notre repas. Bref, on s'attend à beaucoup mieux en allant chez Ferreira qui n'a pas été à la hauteur cette fois-ci. Le service est malheureusement inégal d'une fois à l'autre dans ce restaurant.
