Star of India has been in Montreal for more than three decades. At that time frame, barely a few individuals and connoisseurs appreciated Indian cuisine. Nowadays, Indian cuisine is thriving in Montreal, because of its pioneering by few individual cuisiners. One has to put “Star of India Restaurant” as one of the first runners, introducing Indian cuisine in Montreal’s Indian Restaurant Map.
Because of its “Cordon Bleu” of culinary expertise, it has become immensely popular among dignitaries, politicians, people from entertainment industries and sport personnel.
Our Menu offers a vast selection of traditional Indian dishes, with the accent on flavour. Whether you like your Indian mild, delicately spiced or hot, you will find exactly what you wish, because there is something for everybody at Star of India. If you are a Seafood lover, we can suggest several fish and shrimp dishes; while for a Vegetarian, there are various choices of dishes and soups, all made with fresh vegetables from the market daily.
Among the main courses, you will find a range of delicious Masalla, Tandoori, Curry and other special dishes to suit every taste - each a perfect blend of herbs and spices. Choose from the very mild dishes, like the Butter Chicken or the Tandoori or from spicy dishes, like Beef Vindaloo, prepared with very hot chilies and lemon juice. To accompany your main course, choose from the range of delicious Indian breads: Nan, Paratha or Chapati; and there is the also options of vegetable side and rice dishes to make your meal complete.
As dessert, we provide, as part of your meal, an authentic gulab jamoon – which is a rose flavoured 'dough nuts' served with its sauce.
At Star of India, there is also a bar where you can choose from wine and beer options, like Cheetah and Cobra. You can be assured that you'll find the right drink to accompany your meal - whatever the occasion.

The service was amazing. However that was the worst indian food I have ever eaten in my life. I was there with my friend & she ordered butter chicken, the most basic dish ever it tasted sweet & like expired cheese at the same time. It was pricey as well two dishes were 60$. Avoid this place at all costs.

Butter chicken is sweet & creamy with no heat. Perfect option for children & non-Indians. The palak paneer was okay but lacked flavour. Pappadams & a small bowl of delicious carrot salad are served before ordering. No Thalis on the menu.

Both of us enjoyed all the dishes very much. We ordered Dal soup, appetizers,chicken Biryani, Sag Alou, Butter chicken, Gulab Jamun. The portions were very generous & the service lovely. Been before & will come again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants since I was young. Always have amazing food & great service. The staff is kind & are on top of things. Their butter chicken is the best.

Extremely good & great staff. I am a client for well over 20 years. Tried a lot of Indian restaurants in the Montreal area & this one is fantastic. Also, over the years its always exactly the same taste close to perfection. The butter chicken is THE BEST around but it worth trying many other plates too. I no longer live close by but I do make a detour to go pick up myself (not with delivery app).

I wanted to love this place because very popular in the area. The prices are very reasonable. I just don't think the food quality is good. The butter chicken in particular to me was downright unpleasant. Lamb ok. Veg dishes ok. I'm gonna keep searching for slightly better quality unfortunately

Expérience géniale! Service parfait & discret. Très belles options de menu dégustation à deux, avec rapport qualité prix parfait. Tous les plats étaient délicieux (samosa, butter chicken, agneau & légumes) ainsi que le pain qui était fraîchement cuit. Les plats étaient très accessibles à tous car non pimentés. Cela peut d'ailleurs être un élément négatif: on ne perd pas de saveur mais ça ne pique pas du tout.

We went there at 9:30. They close at 10, they were so friendly didn't rush us at all. We tried a mix of different dishes for 2 people. Everything was sooooo delicious, but butter chicken was another level!!! I am regretting why I didn't discover this place earlier! We brought the rest of it home & ate it for the next day lunch. It was giving us the same satisfaction! I cannot wait to go there again & try other dishes! I'm informing all my Indian food lover friends about this Chef's magic!

BEST butter chicken in Montreal. Try it once & you'll be back for more. All dishes at this location are excellent, but the butter chicken, like said, is out of this world!!!

The butter chicken & lamb curry was PHENOMENAL! Ambience & atmosphere was really nice. Service was great & workers were extremely kind. Will definitely come back again!!

I didn't have the highest of expectations because I had my favorite Indian restaurant that closed & had all their tasty flavors swirling in my head but this restaurant was AMAZING! I ordered through UberEats & the food was everything I was craving & more. Beautifully seasoned, fresh, tasty, well cooked & nice portions. Worth it from every perspective! My favorite dishes which I guarantee I'll be reordering (very likely again tonight haha), Onion Bhaji, Butter Chicken & the Shrimp Malai is drool worthy! Lamb Dansk is also good but a bit spicier than I can take. Biryani vegetable rice & naan bread just made the whole meal complete!

I went there with my friend, the guy who served us was really gentle with my friend, but totally rude with me. But anyway, we dont come there for the staff, but for their excellente food! We orderes a Butter chicken plate with Tandoori Chicken.... The food was awesome, will go there again for sure.... Expecting to be served by a different person LOL

Probably amongst the few Indian restaurants with authentic cuisine. The beef Vindaloo, the butter chicken, the naan bread, were simply delicious. Service was excellent. As always, dessert was on the house. Will definitely return with our friends.
