Review Summary

Dur à Cuire offers a vibrant neighborhood bistro experience known for its casual atmosphere and the popular bring your own wine concept. Many guests appreciate the open kitchen layout, which allows for a direct view of the culinary process, and often highlight dishes like octopus, boudin, and braised beef cheek as flavorful standouts. While some patrons value the carefully prepared meals and friendly, attentive service, others note that the dining environment can become quite noisy when busy. Opinions on portion sizes and overall value vary, though many consider the establishment a charming destination for a relaxed meal where the kitchen team works with noticeable passion.

On y retourne.

We took our entire family to Dur à Cuire last night for what we hoped would be a nice meal out. What a massive disappointment. From start to finish, everything was horrible, overpriced, & left us all feeling sick afterward. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The problems started immediately. They brought out a baguette that had clearly just been yanked out of the freezer-still cold & stale-along with rock-hard frozen butter that was impossible to spread. It was embarrassing.
The appetizers were equally bad. The beets & hummus were completely bland, like they had zero seasoning. The octopus entrée was an absolute disaster: burnt to a crisp, crunchy in the worst way, & basically inedible. The pierogi (or whatever they called it) tasted like a fried piece of ditch-completely lacking any flavor. The beef cheek was one of the strangest things I've ever had; it was overly sweet when it should have been a savory dish. The sweetness clashed horribly & ruined the whole plate.
Service was nonexistent, & the kitchen seemed chaotic. We could see the cook on his phone the entire time-texting, scrolling, & even cooking himself food & eating while we sat there waiting far too long for our meals. No wonder everything came out so poorly.
The prices were way too high for the quality (or lack thereof). We left hungry, disappointed, & unfortunately, the whole family ended up sick later that night. Food poisoning on top of a terrible dining experience is the last thing anyone needs.
Save your money & your health-go somewhere else. Dur à Cuire is not worth it.
