Amazing Poutine! Some of Montreal's finest. If you haven't tried you need to. Make sure you get the smoked meat on top if you're not vegetarian.
Finally decided to give it a try & ordered the Dunn's famous poutine. Food is not bad, they open pretty late & the location is great. But the service is pretty none existent. After sitting down for 10 mins couldn't figure out who's our waiter/waitress & had to ask the host. Overall good as drunk food.
Tried the poutine here & it was absolutely amazing! The fries were crispy, the cheese curds were fresh & squeaky, & the gravy was rich & full of flavor. A true Canadian classic done perfectly! Highly recommend if you're craving comfort food.
This place closes after midnight. We got to our hotel around 11pm, this was one of few options we had. & I'm glad we went there. Their smoked meat is hands-down one of the bests. We shared a smoked club sandwich, asked to upgrade our fries with normal poutine, Louisiana soup & french onion soup. Everything was delicious. Their smoked meat & french onion were amazing. I didn't care for it. I don't was it, but I have to mention that I never had it before, so I can't be a good judge of poutine.
This is a MUST when in Montréal! Incredible food: both the poutine & the smoked meat sandwiches are divine! Good prices too.
We stopped in for a quick dinner, & tried the Dunn's Famous Poutine. The Montreal smoked meat on top was fantastic!
Smoked meat poutine was decent. Definitely not the best I have had in Montreal. Personally think Schwartz's is better than Dunn's. Strawberry cheesecake was pretty good. The table they sat us at is not suitable for two; it is cramped & too small. Staff was nice.
Very good service & the food was good also,
The only thing is the sitting places are bit tight.
We got a poutine general thao, smoked meat plate & onion soup it was very good.
Great food a little overpriced though 40.00 for smoked meat sandwich & poutine.
Smoked meat didn't disappoint. First time trying poutine! It was worth the trip
The smoked meat is so good! Everything is delicious here! I recommend the smoked meat poutine & their smoked meat platters. Great service as well!
We always get the smoked meat sandwich. Poutine is amazing.
It is like traveling back in time for atmosphere.
This was our first stop after a 7hr car ride. We stopped by around 2pm on a Friday & we were seated immediately. Service was good, knowledgeable, quick, efficient. The food was good, but nothing special. Considering their smoked meat was highly suggested, I was expecting it to be out of this world. I had the smoked meat poutine as I tried to kill two birds with one stone, & maybe that was the wrong dish to order. It was just okay. Large portion, but not bursting with flavor. It was also served lukewarm.
I'd come back if I'm ever in the area again, but will definitely try something else.
We were recommended to stop at Dunn's by the hotel staff, & we're so glad we did! Dunn's offers a wide selection of food items, & we decided to try the poutine & egg rolls. When the food arrived, I initially thought it might be too salty, but I was pleasantly surprised! The dishes were incredibly flavorful, fresh, & perfectly balanced. We were delighted with our meal & the overall experience. We can't wait to go back!
Easily the best smoked meat I've ever had. Not overly salty but still adequately seasoned & succulent. Don't underestimate the size of the sandwiches as the smoked meat comes in a generous stack! The poutine was okay, but the root beer (racinette) was too sweet for my liking. Excellent service & food arrived very quickly.
Dunn's famous poutine was so delicious. Our server was so friendly & helpful. Highly recommended
An iconic Montreal eatery, & deservedly so. Among the best places in the city to get a smoked meat sandwich & other deli fare, as well as a whole lot more. As a former Montrealer who goes on endlessly about how much better the smoked meat is in this city, it's always a pleasure to visit a restaurant that is guaranteed to renew my faith & help me prove my case to someone who's only ever known the stuff they serve elsewhere. Dunn's did this for me last weekend. Twice! We visited on Saturday for lunch, had a great experience, then we went back for more just before midnight. In a city full of great dining options, we felt it was worth two visits in one day. The lunchtime server was fast & attentive, & the nighttime server was slower & a bit elusive, but the difference seemed to come down to experience. They were both friendly, bilingual, & made us feel welcome. It was just as busy at noon as it was at midnight. For lunch, I had the smoked meat sandwich (medium cut). Simple, but phenomenal. Stacked. Tender. Juicy. Flavourful. It practically melts in your mouth. Eating it literally made me close my eyes, savour the moment & smile. Even three days later, my mouth waters at the thought of it. People will always have opinions on which restaurant has the best smoked meat in Montreal. Even while sitting in Dunn's, I overheard some guys having that discussion & bringing up the other big names in the local smoked meat business. My opinion is that when a place is ranked among the best smoked meat joints in the city, you can't go wrong. You're going to get a delicious sandwich. Dunn's is one of the best & they proved it to me. Again. This place is almost exactly the same as it was when I ate here back in the 80s & 90s. No longer open 24/7, but still open until 5 a.m. Aside from the hours of operation & maybe a few additions to the menu, it seems little has changed over the decades. For that, I am glad. The ambiance is cozy. Welcoming. Warm. Smells great. Sounds good. Feels like what a downtown Montreal deli/restaurant should feel like. The kind of place where you're happy to go no matter who you are, what you do, what time of day it is, or what day of the week it is. The place is timeless & for everyone. I saw people of all ages & backgrounds, & heard that charming blend of English & French that is so very Montréal. Everyone appeared content. There were good vibes, even for those wearing Canadiens jerseys & Capitals jerseys in the same booth. For the late night snack, it was an all-dressed pizza. Again, simple & just the basics, but done right! & delicious. It reminded me of why Montreal pizza is better, too, right along with its bagels & poutine. Incidentally, we had poutine, too, & it was a winner. Classic. The gravy was spot on. The curds melted perfectly, the cheese stretched & squeaked, & the tasty fries held it all together just right. If you know, you know. Smoked meat. Check. All Dressed pizza. Check. Poutine. Check. This is where to eat in Montreal when you want to keep it simple but great.
There is a nice selection. I'm not fan of hot dog poutine but general tao one never disappointed me. Fish & chips was ok. Nothing special. Their latkes (potato pancakes) were missing salt big time. It's one of my favourite dish & I was very disappointed. We also tried karnatzel, which I don't recommend. I feel like you should eat this cold since it's a dried sausage, meanwhile it was served hot soaked in oil. I think we just got a beef hot dog instead with a side of a pickle. Their coleslaw is good, not too much vinegar there like most of the places I tried. Their chocolate cake is very tasty.
