Schwartz probably is the most famous in Montreal for smoked meat, this place is also recommended & because of all the constructions around it now on a late afternoon there's no wait. So having a petit combo per waitress recommendation 33+CAD hit 2 Montreal's specialty at once--smoked meat & poutine. They were delicious enough for me, not sure if I go to Schwartz (smoked meat) & La Banquise (Poutine) I can really tell that much difference as I'm no food connoisseur.

Good dive bar styled chain poutine spot. My first stop in Montreal downtown the last few trips to get my smoked meat poutine bearings straight to begin trying other local spots. There are many better places out there, but this is always right near where I stay & part of my "get supplies for the weekend" run after I get off the plane. Quick beer & meal & then off to the rest of the trip.
I recently dined at Dunn's Famous & had a fantastic experience. Our server was exceptional, providing attentive & friendly service throughout our meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the pizza, which was quite good considering this is primarily a smoked meat restaurant. However, the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the smoked meat sandwich. It was incredibly delicious, with tender, flavorful meat that left me wanting more. Overall, Dunn's Famous exceeded my expectations, & I can't wait to return!
Ok food fast in an ok atmosphere. Sit toward front to avoid fruit flies buzzing tables in back. Worst poutine in Montreal. Hard to disappoint with Poutine but Dunns dun it. Smoked meet was dry. Add sauerkraut or something to add necessary moisture

Felt like a classic Montréal experience. Visiting from out of town, we felt like it was authentic & great food. Had the smoked meat & poutine, of course! Highly recommend especially for out of town guests.
Absolutely HOUSED some smoke meat post physical activity & it was absolutely worthy. This place has a nice charm, & plays good music. Service was efficient & very well done. The food was excellent. We ate here around 6:30 on a Saturday on a holiday weekend & the crowd levels were not large at all surprisingly. Smoked meat gets a 10/10 l, but having said that, I have only ever had it 3 times so take my rating with a grain of salt. Has the Montreal charm you are looking for.

Poutine was quite underwhelming. Fries were soggy & room temp. Smoked meat was not impressive either. My friend also got the Dunn's famous pasta which was meh but then again why would anyone go to Dunn's for pasta?
This place was decent. I enjoyed the interior, adorned with numerous photos depicting the history of Dunn's business-it felt like a journey through time. The service was excellent; the servers were kind & attentive. The food arrived quickly &, while tasty, it wasn't particularly outstanding. A previous review mentioned the bun being dry, which I found to be true, & there wasn't much meat in the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were inconsistent, with some flavorful & others bland. This was my first time in Montreal & at this restaurant. While I would consider returning, there are definitely better options available.
The smoked meat sandwich on rye bread was heavenly. It was served with coleslaw which balances the fat of the sandwich. It was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. But I guess fries are not their forte? They were soggy, oily & takes away the joy one feels while devouring the sandwich. They should gather together & reinvent the way they do the fries.
This was me & my friends' first stop for our Montreal trip. Our hotel wasn't ready so we left the bags & explored for a bit. My friend said he knew exactly what we were going to do & looked up a place to get poutine. We both shared the montreal smoked meat poutine. Delicious! The gravy was light & the smoked meat added the salt. Definitely a place worth stopping
