Really good dosa place

I always went there for their masala dosa. No doubt the food is good but the customer service is soo bad. After serving the food, they never come to the table & ask if we need anything else. They should come atleast once after serving food. They are always standing there but never come & ask.

Visited this place last Saturday with friends & had a fantastic experience. We ordered idly, puri, & dosa, & everything was impressive.

The puri was perfectly fluffy & soft, paired with two flavorful curries that complemented it really well. The dosa was crisp & delicious, just as it should be.

But the real highlight was the idly - easily the best I've had in Montreal. It was incredibly soft, fresh, & literally melted in the mouth like butter. The sambar & chutneys were rich in flavor & perfectly balanced.

Overall, an outstanding experience. If you're craving authentic South Indian food in Montreal, this place is definitely a must-visit!

Visited again on 3 Feb, & had a plate of Vada … this time sambhar was really tasty & chutney were nice. Vada was not fresh, but decent.
Chilli garlic noodles was spicy & tasted nice, but it was a little more oily.
Their Indo-Chinese dishes are a must try.
Overall ***.5

Old review

Trio fried rice with manchurian was really very tasty, i did request for spicy & it was to the mark… awesome & i will try their other Indo-Chinese dishes.

As for the mysore masala dosa, it lacked the authentic taste, just had the podi chutney :( i didn't like the sambhar either, chutney were fine. For this price, this would be 1.5-2**

Staff is very friendly & listens carefully

I recently tried Dosa Pointe & honestly, I really enjoyed the food. The paper dosa was huge, super crispy, & just perfect-one of the best I've had in a while. It came with chutneys & sambar that tasted fresh & went really well with it.

The rava dosa was also really good-nice & crispy with that light, lacy texture. You can tell it was made fresh, & the flavor was spot on.

I also had the idli, which was soft, fluffy, & comforting. It paired perfectly with the chutneys & sambar.

The karam podi dosa was my favorite though-it had a nice spicy kick & was full of flavor without being too overpowering.

Overall, the food felt authentic & satisfying. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving good South Indian food.

One of our favourite restaurants ever. Dosa is perfect. Veg noodles, chicken 65, Gobi Manchurian are all delicious options too. Idli & vada are absolutely the best at dosa point--chutneys & sambar are so tasty. The staff are very very friendly & warm. I love you dosa Pointe.

Good Food, But Consistently Poor Service

I have visited Dosa Pointe multiple times, & unfortunately, this experience was disappointing again.I had to leave a review

We ordered one achari masala dosa, one veg noodles, & two rose lassis. The lassi arrived first, followed by the dosa-but the veg noodles never came at all. We were two people dining together, & only one of us got their meal while the other kept waiting.

We didn't follow up immediately because this has happened 3-4 times before, & we've always tried to be understanding since restaurants can get busy. However, this time it wasn't even crowded, & still there was no check-in from the staff or acknowledgment of the missing order.

One thing I've consistently noticed is that this issue seems to happen whenever we order Indo-Chinese items. If that section of the menu cannot be managed properly, it might be better not to take those orders instead of leaving customers waiting indefinitely.

The food we did receive was good, but the service really needs improvement. I hope this feedback is taken seriously.

I've been to Dosa Point four times now, & what really stands out is their consistency. The taste & quality of the food are always on point - same flavor, same freshness every visit. The staff is welcoming & the service is smooth even when they're busy.

It's honestly rare to see that level of consistency in Indian Restaurants. What makes me even happier is seeing our own people doing so well in the restaurant business here in Canada. I've hardly seen Indian restaurants where customers line up outside, but here people actually wait for a table - & that says everything. Really proud & genuinely happy for their success.

When they first opened a few years ago, the food was fresh & I visited quite often. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. It felt like the chutneys were simply reheated rather than freshly made. The dosa was extremely dry, as if it had been prepared with old batter, & the vadas tasted stale. Sadly, I won't be returning again.

Absolutely the best South Indian food in Montreal - stacks up to some dosas I've had in India. Also great Indian Chinese. Also, I'm a regular here & have an allergy & the servers remember it better than I do.

It was my first time going to Dosa Point after seeing many good reviews. One day before this visit I passed by & there was a huge line - people were even standing outside. The owner was there, so we jokingly asked if there was any discount. He said,'We don't need to give discounts. Our quality brings people here.' That made me curious to try it.

About a month later I went back with my friend, especially because of what he had said. It was extremely cold inside. Our table was right next to the door & customers were constantly coming in & out, so it literally felt like we were sitting on ice.

I ordered masala paneer, lacha paratha, & masala chai - my favorite Indian foods. The paneer was okay, decent. But the chai was terrible - no real tea taste & no masala flavor at all. The biggest disappointment was the paratha. I expected it to be freshly made, but it clearly tasted frozen. If you serve frozen food, you should inform customers.

Overall, a very disappointing & uncomfortable experience. I won't be going back again.

Dosa Pointe on Jean-Talon is a solid spot when you're craving bold, comforting flavors. The menu delivers generous portions at a very good price, making it excellent value for money. The real standout for us was the spicy garlic noodles-fragrant, punchy, & perfectly cooked with just the right heat. Overall, it's a great place for flavorful, affordable food, & we definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

What an incredible experience at Dosa Pointe! Every dish was bursting with authentic South Indian flavors. The idli plate was absolutely amazing: soft, fluffy, & perfectly paired with delicious chutneys & sambar. The chicken biryani was great, fragrant, flavorful, & cooked just right. The chilli garlic chicken was spicy but completely out of this world: bold, fiery, & incredibly tasty. & the Mysore masala dosa was beyond amazing : crispy, perfectly spiced, & truly unforgettable.
The flavors & aromas genuinely transported me back to India, reminding me of authentic home-style food. If you're craving real Indian taste in Montreal, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
