The flavors were good & enjoyable, though it felt like something was missing. Maybe we just needed to order more dishes to get the full experience. Definitely try the mushroom hummus; it's fantastic!View more
Great Mediterranean spot for a fancy dinner date! The ambiance & service were amazing. Strongly recommend the hummus shawarma (with lamb) & shish taouk.View more
The ambiance was great with a strong oriental theme. • Staff were kind & cooperative, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. Our Starters: • The hummus was flawless, served with excellent fresh-baked Arabic bread. • The yalangi (stuffed grape leaves) was delicious. Main Dish: • The mixed grill for two featured excellent beef options. • However, the shish tawook was overly sour, likely due to an excess of lemon.View more
Their Shish-taouk & lamb shank were delicious! Also tried falafel, hummus & halloumi which were pretty good! I will be coming back!View more
We went out of our comfort zone this year & tried something new & oh my, this will place will be on our "regular" list going forward. It was THAT good. . Here is what we ate 1- GRILLED OCTOPUS Grilled octopus (T2), Aleppo pepper lemon sauce, green fava bean puree, cherry tomato & caper salsa 2- SOUR CHERRY KEBAB Charcoal grilled lamb kebab, Aleppo sour cherry sauce, seven spices, pine nuts, grilled Saj bread with butter 3- RACK OF LAMB (18 OZ) Alberta rack of lamb, seven spices, green hummus, Biwaz pita & tahini sauce 4- MIXED HOMEMADE BAKLAVA FOR 2 . . Everything was good. Anything cooked in an open grill is good. Smokey goodness. I'm still thinking of the sour cherry kebabs. That sauce, I wanna dip anything in that sauce. . If there's one place to go, it's gonna be @damasrestaurant - so make sure to check them out on your next visit to Montreal. You can make reservations via @opentableView more

**Title: A Taste of Syria with Unmatched Ambiance!** I recently dined at Damas, a Mediterranean Syrian restaurant that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to a different world-a perfect blend of traditional Syrian charm & modern comfort. The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart. The décor reflects the rich cultural heritage of Syria, with intricate patterns, warm earthy tones, & beautiful lanterns casting a soft, inviting glow. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance-relaxed yet lively, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners & gatherings with friends. The music playing softly in the background adds to the experience, with traditional melodies that complement the dining experience beautifully. The staff is incredibly welcoming, always ready with a smile & eager to share recommendations from the menu. As for the food, it's nothing short of spectacular. Each dish is a celebration of authentic Syrian flavors, made with fresh ingredients & a lot of love. From the perfectly spiced kebabs to the creamy hummus & freshly baked pita, every bite was a delight. The menu offers a wide variety of options, making it easy to find something for everyone. Damas is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, & an unforgettable ambiance makes it a standout in the Mediterranean dining scene. I can't wait to return & bring more friends along to enjoy this hidden gem!View more
Damas is a famed Montreal restaurant that is hyped to be the best Syrian spot in town. The warm decor, beautiful lights, & upscale nature really makes this a place for special occasions. My friend was able to book us a table for a late night meal about a month in advance. They absolutely get booked up so if you want a table, be sure to plan ahead & make that reservation. Menu items are meant to be shared family style. As a vegan, it was admittedly hard for me to really justify ordering anything sharable that others would want given how pricy everything is on the menu. The two mezzes we had including the Fattoush Salad & their Hummus were already $50 for those alone, so you can imagine how high everything else would have been added up. I enjoyed the salad & its use of fresh ingredients, along with the hummus (which was by no means the best, but a solid hummus nonetheless). I really liked the circular pita that they provided with the hummus as it made for a great dipping mechanism for all of us. I don't think it's worth the price/value for someone that is plant based, despite them having options like grilled vegetables & what appeared to be a heartier legume dish. I think the price for these dishes is what get me so I can't in good faith absolutely recommend it unless you are someone that consumes animal products. With that said, the experience was great & I am very grateful to have even been a part of a meal with great company.View more
Very nice decoration of the restaurant, the ambiance & atmosphere is relaxing, it gets packed & is full, busy, but the service is fast & efficient, the real garlic sauce, the hummus, the quality of the food is remarkable & a good way to experience this type of gastronomy. Recommended spot.View more
What a wonderful treat! We are visiting Montreal & the food & service were exceptional! The filet kabob & mushroom hummus couldn't have been more enjoyable! A must try!View more
Knocking two stars. One for the pricing - hummus with chicken shouldn't cost 45 CAD. Nor should a samka harra be 110 CAD. Second star knocked off for the decor & atmosphere. The restaurant aims to be high-end while the interior is confusing - the lights are moroccan, the tiles generic, nothing says syrian. No pictures or items from its regions (aleppo, latakia, homs, etc). what pushes the rating is the service & quality of food.View more
Back in the day, I would have given a million stars to this restaurant. In fact, it should have been almost Michelin level. We had tried the tasting menu, & every single bite was spectacular, & the prices were much more reasonable. Last night, we returned expecting that same level of deliciousness, but it was just good, not amazing, nothing special. We had 2 apps (Hummus & Mouhammara), & 2 mains (Sea bass - lacked flavor but was cooked nicely - & Lamb dumplings). The best thing was the Mouhammara, & the rum Polo. I was disappointed to find the taste extremely lacking compared to my previous experience, & the prices had skyrocketed. What you get for what you pay just doesn't add up anymore. I'm sorry to say, but that was my last experience dining at Damas.View more
Seriously good food & beautifully presented! We loved every bit of everything & the drinks are wonderful. On the pricey side. The restaurant was a bit louder than we had expected & less on the romantic side, though very nice. The staff was nice, but not overly nice. We had mentioned it's our 20th wedding anniversary & they didn't care which was a bit odd to us. For starters we shared the Hummus! It was absolutely scrumptious. For the main we got the grilled meat platter for two- it was delish & plenty of food! We were very full after our meal.View more
One of my all time favorite meals. Get the hummus, borekas, shrimp & lamb kabobs for sure. Great cocktails. Service is SO thoughtful.View more
Been here several times. Recently, my perspective has changed dramatically about Damas. Once a top restaurant in Canada, now has turned into a cash grab. The prices here are outrageous, & nothing to justify it. The ingredients & meats are mostly all local products, not like they are importing seafood or getting wagyu beef. The food is decent, but honestly I likely would not be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test for a $30 dish at another restaurant. the menu has changed as well, & it is not as attractive as it once use to be. Only way I would go back is with a tasting menu, otherwise, just not the same... - Appetizers hummus & beet hummus were good, nothing out of this world - Meals - meat platter & chicken shish taouk, same were good, nothing out of this world. The lamb rack on the meat platter wasn't good, no one enjoyed it, same with some deep fried meat, that was extremely dry. - Had three of the desserts & they were all terrible, left a bad taste leaving the restaurantView more
We visited Damas last week with our family. The food was exceptional - some favourites were the lamb with hummus, the fattoush salad, lamb dumplings, fried cheese dumplings - but everything was fabulous. The decor is beautiful & we received excellent service from Yannick. We will definitely return.View more
Will never forget the taste of the food here hummus with champignon is sooooo good. I wish I took a picture of it.View more
I've eaten here three times so far, & hope to return again! It is also currently my favourite restaurant of all time. The food is delicious, unique, & iconic. I have not had the pleasure of trying the tasting menus, but there are some regular menu items on it that I have loved. A shoutout for the cocktails is needed, & I recommend either the Aleppo Gin Sour or Damascus Blinker. As far as food goes the hummus is remarkable, & the option with the shawarma is a meal on its own. I also recommend the Sour Cherry Kebab & the Samke Harra. The food service is organized around sharing plates, & they run a tight ship replacing platters & utensils. Staff have always been helpful & kind. Not to mention the restaurant itself is gorgeous & has an intimate atmosphere despite its density. Overall, it's worth the price to try at least once. You will probably find yourself wanting to come back!View more
Atmosphere is super charged & very welcoming. Food is superb. Especially the hummus & lamb, fatouche salad, the prawns. These all sound basic, but the best version of each dish furreal! Professional, smiling service.View more
Trop cher pour rien en plus le chawarma hummus m'a rendu très malade toute la soiréeView more
We've decided to celebrate my sister's birthday at Damas. Such a great experience, the food is delicious & the service was excellent! We've had the fattouche, hummus, kebe, Hummus shawarma, lamb meet & many more. Great selection of wine! The desserts were delicious too. Good job!View more

Damas is a beautiful restaurant, the Syrian decor is very impressive & warm. Our server was very knowledgeable, helpful, polite & attentive; great service. The food is out of this world. Best hummus & baba ghannouj any of us have ever had. We tried most of the cold mezzes & the fried cheese cigares & every one was mind blowing delicious. Every Main Dish (shish taouk, fattet, samke harra) was divine. None of us could chose which dish was the best as they were all beyond perfection in taste, texture, & presentation. Culinary Genius.
