We're from Vermont so we thought that the cuisine would be a wonderful detour from what we usually have available. Our experience however, was not very good, & I don't think we'd come back again. To start, we got seated & we knew we wanted the tasting menu, which is 7 courses, so we ordered that & we each had a cocktail. They whisked the menus away & we were excited. Then the first course came, then the second, by the third we were both finished with our cocktails & were politely waiting for our server to come back to ask for a refill. I was facing the restaurant & I watched him stop by other tables except ours. I tried to make eye contact with him, to no avail, it seems he was uninterested in helping us anymore, as he refused to even look our direction. At the point of the fourth course my partner had been waiting on a water refill for 15 minutes. 15! I finally just started staring & trying to flag waiters down until one (very nice) man came over & asked if we needed something. We asked for a wine menu, ordered. & then were promptly left alone again. Then when dessert came around, (we made this reservation 3 months in advance & put in the notes it was our anniversary) the person who came said "its somebodys birthday" Which while it would be fine if that was the only blunder, but when you've been dismissed the entire night & had to fight for a water refill it Definitely feels on purpose & rude. & then we had to fight again to get the check. I just felt like if you're spending $500 on a dinner youd think they could keep the water refilled. Let alone notice that your cocktail is empty & ask if youd like another. Or at least CHECK IN & make sure everything is going fine. I don't know if it was because we looked younger than their usual clientele, or if that is policy to leave you to your devices after ordering a 7 course meal. But we will not go there again. & it's so disappointing because the food was phenomenal!! But I would never recommend anyone go there. It felt like we weren't their target clientele, & I got the impression that we weren't welcome.
An absolutely amazing place for a casual dinner with friends or celebratory feast. We had the degustation & the kitchen deftly avoided the food allergies, & the sommelier made some great replacements for the red wines to help my wife avoid the migraines. Amazing service team, really delicious food. Would highly recommend, & visit again!
We had a Syrian white wine & the tasting menu. Everything was perfect; the service, food quality & especially the atmosphere.
Food was delicious. I've never tried such an interesting wine (I've been in Italy, France, Spain, Georgia). Stuff was friendly.
Could not recommend this restaurant more. My husband & I have never had Syrian food before but decided to try Dana's while we were in Montreal on vacation & it was both of our favorite restaurant we visited while we were there. We did the tasting menu & my husband did the wine pairing with his meal. The waitress was really knowledgeable about the menu & recommended substitutions where necessary for me since I am pregnant. It was excellent service, all the food we had was amazing (we left very full) & the sommelier was very friendly & professional. I definitely recommend anyone give this place a try, it was incredible!
Stellar service from start to finish. Thank you George. Atmosphere & design is very authentic & appealing. Prices are inflated however when you're in your'prime' I suppose you milk it for all it's worth. Lentil soup, pistachio kebbe, & braised lamb dish among others. Oh a very unique appetizer; PASTIRMA, (Cured beef filet mignon, aged sheep milk cheese, & quail egg). Very good. I'm being generous with 4 stars. $24 for a glass of Armenian white wine? Not worth it. I will have to return to this establishment. This time with a guest, unlike the one who was with me on this eve, that will be appreciative & kind. This lady was not a'lady' at all & has left a bitter taste from my experience. I shall'redeem' myself. Cheers.
We've decided to celebrate my sister's birthday at Damas. Such a great experience, the food is delicious & the service was excellent! We've had the fattouche, hummus, kebe, Hummus shawarma, lamb meet & many more. Great selection of wine! The desserts were delicious too. Good job!

This was my 4th trip to the restaurant, a last minute decision when the wait time for our first choice Haricana was 30 minutes. I was rather surprised that there was room at Damas on a Thursday night.
On the phone I was asked if bar seating was fine, unfortunately my guest had other plans. We got a table in a n area I had never seen before right beyond the bathrooms. Apparently used for groups we learnt later..
The seating area in any other restaurant would have been great, yet it if felt we far from the action & tucked away not to be seen. The room was also quieter which in a sense also diminished the experience found in the main dining area.
My guest I learnt was not a fan of lamb which is probably an item on half the items on the menu. I've often repeated what a waiter mentioned "chicken! you can make chicken at home" so we were left with less options.
I ordered the eggplant salad which to my amazement well appreciated by my guest who after having ordered it also said eggplant was yucchy. This dish however has always been delish. Good ingredients make this dish pop.
We flowed with shrimp which is a generous portion of large shrimp. My guest was impressed with the quantity size & flavour of these crustaceans. She even enjoyed the garnish that surrounded the dish. To my taste the shrimps were too soft not even bite to them, but then again shrimp have never been my favourite. The last dish was a lamb suggestion from the waiter...he went on a limb I guess. It was actually good as the lamb was braised in a tomato based sauce, yet there was a lack of flavour considering the ingredients.
The wine was how can I say this nicely, not worth the price. The restaurant should include some more moderately priced wines with a little more punch.
All in all we had a great evening but I am still looking for that wow factor I experienced my first 2 visits to Damas.
The service was up to snuff & then some

Third time I dined at Damas. On this evening I was with a coworker from out of town & traveled the 20 kilometers to introduce him to this establishment, that is how impressed I was the other 2 times.
The room was described as impressive by my guest who has a background in design. It was also comfortable as the evening was brutally humid & windy.
The staff as usual was attentive, but seemed to be in a hurry to get our order. Possibly just a feeling on my part.
As for the food I must say I was not as impressed. Firstly the freshly baked pita arrived at our table overcooked so hardened very quickly. My guest ordered the humus , which he believed would only be the dip, but our dish also included the lamb which as neither tender nor warm when it arrived. The main was actually quite good although at that point the wine & late evening may have been a factor also.
Don't get me wrong, this is a fine place to dine , on this particular night it simply was less so.
