Exquisite food & wine but following an unscheduled event will demonstrate how Damas employees care for their customers beyond the great ambiance & the menu. After returning home I had a call from Damas Staff telling me they found my wife's wallet (which was not the case), the staff diligently looked at wallet owners lady's last name & went through their guest list to find someone with the identical last name. Smart, delicate I highly recommend !
This is truly a fine dining experience, with a relaxed middle eastern vibe. The flavours are bold & the preparation is somewhat delicate. The wine list is quite extensive with choices from around the world, mostly French wines from diverse regions. On the expensive side, each plate is very generous & enough to share with 6 people. The service is attentive & professional, the music is a bit loud. All in all, great place to celebrate a special occasion with family.
Came here on visit from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The entire service staff was amazing, with a very intentional flow, & an attention to the guest experience that made them really stand out. The tasting menu is a must, & definitely get the wine paring with it. Patrick, our waiter, was there every time we wanted him to be, with an unforgettable smile & charm. John, the sommelier, is the best one we've experienced. Highly knowledgeable about all things wine & pairing but also very personable. He brought a magic to the whole experience that left us simultaneously more knowledgeable about wine, but also feeling more confident in our own ability to judge & experience. This will be a regular stop whenever we come to Montreal. Worth every $$$$
Exceptional dining experience. We both had the tasting menu, with wine pairing. Atmosphere was excellent, the wait staff were exceptional, did a great job making sure everything was perfect, wine selection was outstanding. The food... was simply Devine, great presentation, flavours, & nice size portions Highly recommend, ,we will certainly be going back
I realize that this review will not make a dent in the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I wanted to share our experience to add another perspective. We arrived with very high expectations due to the hype & went for the tasting menu with the premium wine package. In total we spent around $750 for two persons, a price level which obviously comes with expectations. The meal was completely fine, but underwhelming. The highlights were the amouse bouche, shrimp, & the "kiwi" dish. The rest was quite average. We never got to taste the dessert. Wine is, of course, a subjective matter, but while the sommelier seemed knowledgeable, many of the wines were too untraditional & special for our taste. Perhaps the regular wine pairing would have been a safer choice. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, but the noise level where we were seated was very high. It was a struggle to keep a conversation going, requiring us to lean in & often repeat ourselves, which is not what we expect when spending that much on a couples dinner. We saw multiple other groups of customers getting moved to other parts of the restaurant, & assume they might have asked for that, to escape the noise. In hindsight, we should have done the same. While highly praised in other reviews, unfortunately the worst part of our experience was the service. Every single employee we were in contact with seemed nice & friendly, but while the waiter on water duty was attentive, unfortunately our main waiter was not. He excused himself after the first serving, assuring us that he had not forgotten us, but as the night wore on, it seems that he did. After finishing the servings of grilled meats, we sat for 40 minutes with no one approaching us or making any attempts to move on to the dessert. When we finally managed to get the attention of our main server, we had spent more than three hours on the meal & were more than ready to leave, so we ended up forgoing the dessert as we simply did not have the patience or energy to spend more time in the restaurant. Other customers that arrived much later than us, had finished their desserts, before we decided not to wait for ours. I am convinced that most other customers do not have the same experience that we do, but unfortunately it feels like we just threw a lot of money at something very disappointing.
Very good food & flavors. Excellent wine list with incredible selections. Cocktail list is honestly pretty boring with a lot of redundant ingredients. Definitely a bit on the pricey side but worth a visit.
Food is amazing as well as servie & wine selection would rate a perfect 5 if the portions could of been a tiny bit bigger . Would defenitly go again .
Came here in April with my gf for my birthday dinner & was the best restaurant experience Ive had ! The tasting menu was extremely delicious & the sommelier who came by with our sparkling wine was also very amicable.
One of the best restaurants in Montreal, & hands-down the best Syrian restaurant I've had the pleasure of dining in outside of Syria itself. The service was impeccable- very helpful & professional staff. I highly recommend the Bargylus wine.
We chose the prix fixe pescatarian tasting menu, which came with a lot of food. Salad, babaganoush, egg/pita, falafel, octopus, stuffed grape leaves, bulgur, fish & baklava. We enjoyed this feast with a refreshing white wine from Syria. The highlights were the babaganoush (truly a surprising flavour explosion), falafel, octopus & fish entree. The food was very solid with a few surprising stand outs. The service & atmosphere was typical for such a big space (reminded me a bit of Dishoom). However, the price was very steep & would have appreciated some guidance on our tasting menu choice. (Assuming this would have knocked a couple hundred $ off our dinner for two...making it more palpable)
