The food was really good & the prices make a lot of sense for the portion you get. I had a really good experience. The staff were great & very patient as I don't speak French. It's a really good atmosphere to have dinner with friends & family. The place is also very pretty looking.
I enjoyed the Interieur a lot. Like the style, good noise level of the ambient music.
Service was good, although the water refills could have come a bit more timely.
My omlette was rather ham-heavy, but quality was on point. Plus points for serving fruits with it.
The French toast matched m expectations fully as well.
Can recommend having breakfast at the commodore.
Very tourist friendly staff to compliment a very tasty menu. The steak & French onion was fantastic!
The food was very fresh & good. it really taste fine french dining. We ordered 3 plates & all of them were tasting great. We had the salmon tartare with the salmon burger & the bifteck & fries.
Incredible experience - I loved the food & the vibe. I thought the prices were reasonable for the food, service was great too however it was indeed a bit slow as other reviews have mentioned, but that is the French way. Eat slowly with tons of time for conversation. Great location & overall would highly recommend for a nice night out in Montreal.
I came here for my birthday & all I can say is I was so impressed by the service with Nikki & the ambience. He was an impeccable waiter & I really enjoyed the food. I tried oysters for the first time in my life & they now have me hooked on wanting more oysters. We also had the french onion soup, sweet potato soup of the day, duck legs & veal steak, all of which was delicious & perfect. Both meats pulled apart beautifully & was moist. I know they are a young business, I look forward to their menus developing & becoming more refined, I will be back again soon. If there is anything I can suggest for improvement it would be developing a better dessert menu. I tried the ice creams & charlotte fruit cake. The almond ice cream was great but the fruit ice creams being more water high was a bit more on the icy side & tough to break into. The cake part I find the sponge rim was a bit on the drier side which made it disassemble from the cream cheese filling right away. It doesn't seem like the two texture sits togethers quite right.
Great decor & atmosphere, but apart from that the place is definitely overrated. We were a party of 10 which became a party of 9 due to an emergency & they weren't happy about this. They tried imposing a group menu on us, finally settled on à la carte if everyone ordered an appetizer & main. I was able to negotiate getting 2-3 appetizers as none of the mains were interesting to me. I ordered French onion soup which was bitter, likely from burnt onions. How you mess up something as basic as French onion soup in a French bistro is beyond me. I ordered a tarte fine which was a little bland, but all right & some oysters which were fresh. I ordered Le Figaro one of their signature cocktails which didn't taste like much. The service was nothing exceptional. Never got a water refill, even when I asked. The waitress wasn't mean or anything, but basic stuff like refills asking if we wanted repeat drinks etc was lacking. They imposed a 15% service charge at the end categorically, I guess because of the group size. Would have been good to indicate on the menu or inform everyone beforehand as a courtesy. If you're an instagrammer I guess it's okay, but if you value good food & decent service, I wouldn't go. I think 3 stars is generous.
