Review Summary

Club Espagnol de Québec offers a warm, convivial atmosphere where tapas, paella and other Spanish and Argentine inspired dishes are paired with generous portions and lively sangria. Food highlights across reviews include paella and Valencian fideua, a variety of tapas with fresh seafood such as mussels, clams, squid and shrimp, crepes with dulce de leche, and even a highly praised grilled salmon, with several notes that the dishes feel homemade and satisfying. The ambiance is described as casual and festive, with a family friendly feel and occasional live entertainment, especially flamenco and tango, plus an outdoor terrace in summer. Service is generally friendly and professional, with servers who can speak French or Spanish and who are attentive to dietary needs, though a few diners mention moments when water, napkins or condiments were missing, and occasional inconsistencies like a paella that was a bit dry or chicken that was dry. Overall return visits are common, many planning to try different dishes or to enjoy the shows again.

Authentic Spanish flavors done right! The seafood paella is rich & vibrant, & the tapas-tender octopus, crispy crab croquettes , & bold patatas bravas-are a hit. Great food, warm atmosphere. A must-try in Montreal!

The original owner is back only for a few more weeks until April. Without him & his wife, the food & service after he retired was inconsistent. Today I had the pleasure to find him & the wonderful food & service my family & I ustoo get years ago when we first came to Canada. I felt home, the food was amazing, authentic taste & the service was up to part with true Spanish hospitality. I dure hope the new owner's can maintain the taste & warmth after he is gone in April.

This place has been around for a long time & is a mile end institution. It has one of the largest patios in the back. The decor is really simple but it is charming & unpretentious. It would benefit from some paint & ceiling repair. Perhaps a little more art on the walls. It has some large TVs to watch sport & a large bar.
Service was slow but once the food was ordered, it was quite ok. Half the food we ordered was good but not the other half as it felt like the shrimps were a bit undercooked, not fresh, perhaps even frozen & completely tasteless. Thankfully some of the other dishes we ordered were food. The taps portions were much more generous than any other place around the area. There was a flamenco show (not dancers) from a local band that mixed French, Spanish & another dialect. The place was quite empty for a Saturday. It’s still come back for nostalgia & simple bites.
