Service was fast but kinda rude... food was fresh made & delicious... little too salty but was good.... chicken was tender & flavorful with hot heavy spice.. delicious... vegi rolls sucked .. not fresh but microwaved.....prices were reasonable.. parking kinds sucked .. will come back if in the area.. try other dishes..
Food was mediocre - well, what'I' had was mediocre. Vegetable fried rice. I ate it fast because I was super hungry. Rice had no real flavor. I had to add spicy hot sauce.
The server who prepped my table with a plate with chopsticks & napkins, dropped the plate on the table so hard that it startled me & a woman next to me who looked at me like,'smh'. I read her face good because that's what I was thinking. I know they're rushing & all but still be - aware.
There was a little lady running around there really working hard but as I waited for my table, I watched her do multiple things; handling money, handling plates, coughing into her shirt sleeve. Personally, I wish I could have seen her wash her hands at least once, the whole time. That bothered me but damn, I was hungry.
With that on my mind, I ate my meal. I'm sure the five star reviews are valid but my experience was this one. I will not be back.
To the staff: Don't bomb drop plates & such onto customer tables because you are rushing. Calm down, it's not a good look & it doesn't feel good to the customer. Most importantly, you're all doing alot. WASH YOUR HANDS, especially you Ms. Doing Everything lady.
Absolutely delicious food; it's alwayssssss consistently amazing. Lots of vegan options too! My fave is the wood ear mushroom spicy salad & the potato, eggplant & peppers 😍 but you can't go wrong with anything. Best Chinese resto in the city!
Overall great Chinese food - some of the best I have ever had.
We ordered a few plates to share - General Tao's Chicken, Beef & Brocolli, Spicy Chicken, Vegetable Noodles, & Vegetable Fried Rice.
The only issue was that the spicy chicken was not at all spicy. It had chili peppers served with the dish, but the chicken itself was not spicy.
Freshly prepared, delicious, flavourful food! Really enjoyed it, & spicy & non spicy options, as well as meat & veggie ones, were plentiful! Look forward to coming back!
I may have reviewed this place before but in case I'm stoned:
Chez Chilli is the best chinese I've had in this city by a wide margin. Only La Perle comes close.
I've tried: the laziji, the hong shao rou, salt n pepper porchops, fish stew, yu xiang eggplant, several noodle plates, general tao, salt n spicy chicken, cumin squid, beef & lamb, the spicy beef stew, caramelized shortrib, yang zhou fried rice, & a few others I can't remember. Every single one of these dishes is top notch.
The service is great too. They always reseat us when our orders are huge, they explain the dishes very well in case you have doubts, & they're very friendly.
I'll never stop singing their praises, best chinese you can get, hands down.
Really wanted to rate this a five star but dishes that were supposed to have spicy peppers had none. No level of spice in a restaurant that is supposed to specialize in Hunan or Schezuan cuisine. Food was tasty but just now what I was expecting. Maybe it is served to a level of heat suited for Montreal taste?
Chez Chili is my go-to when I'm craving something spicy & satisfying. The food is consistently delicious, & the atmosphere is warm & welcoming.
Best authentic Chinese food in town. I recommend getting the spicy eggplant with mince pork, or the dongbei style, it's to die for!!! The general Tao is THE best, & you get a LOT for what you're paying. Top quality!
The most authentic Sichuan food in town. It met all the promises & high ratings. Spicy chicken can be spicier. Fried batter is one of the best I tasted. Very satisfied!
I come here regularly & the quality is always top-notch. The spicy dry pot & dumplings are my go-to. Staff is always welcoming too!
The best Sichuan restaurant in town-no question. The food is spicy, flavorful, & always fresh. Great for both dine-in & takeout.
The food served in person is quite good, would not recommend Tao Chicken if you don't like sweet tasting food.
The spicy hunan pork belly was 👏 highly recommend
great spot & had AC to get away from the summer heat
would come again
Update July 2025:
Service À+
This time we were 7 people on a Friday night we waited 15 min & the food was even better than last time. General Tao is amazing! We also tried the spicy hunan beef which was also great! All around, this place is still incredible for the money you pay & service, best place in Chinatown imho.
Low msg Chinese food, very good! I will come back & their service is great really sweet waitresses. The Tsing Tao beer is great also.
Prices are great, variety & clean food.
Good take on classic Szechuan dishes for a good price. Got the napo tofu, boiled fish, & spicy eggplant & was very satisfied
Fast, friendly service & absolutely delicious food. The menu is full of classics done right-spicy, savory, & satisfying. Chez Chili never lets me down.
Chez Chili offers an exceptional dining experience with its authentic Sichuan cuisine, which has become my all-time favorite. The restaurant delivers on its promise of bold flavors & traditional dishes that capture the essence of Sichuan cuisine perfectly. From the aromatic spices to the mouth-numbing heat of dishes like mapo tofu & spicy garlic eggplant, each bite is a delight. The ambiance is cozy & welcoming, complementing the flavorful meals. Whether you're a fan of spicy food or seeking an authentic taste of Sichuan, Chez Chili delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
Had a really good dinner here. The food is amazing & the service is really quick & friendly. We did the twice cooked pork & the general tao chicken. The pork dish was very authentic & quite spicy which we liked. The general tao chicken was also really good. I wish that dish had some vegetables that came with it. Looking forward to our next visit to try some other dishes.
Loved the food at Chez Chili - super tasty & full of flavor. Great service & cozy vibes. A must-try if you enjoy spicy dishes!
