Afficher toutchinese(103) chicken(63) fried rice(52) recommend(52) dishes(51) spicy(50) fried(43) authentic(42) général tao(36) rice(33) pork(31) highly recommend(30)Wait time was very short even though there were queues out on to the street. I had the yangchao fried rice & general tao chicken, the fried rice was very light on soy sauce compared to yangchao from other places which actually tasted better in my opinion. The chicken was very nice as well & the staff were very quick with unlimited ice water refills & quick service.
Great food! Lots of flavour & authentic. Lots of garlic & sauteed goodness, major downside is that they make you give them a 5 star review to get their deal on a free Coke. Attention to service is average at best. Quoting the server'give us five star review'. Some of the dishes had too much ginger if you're not into that but the fried shrimp was excellent 👌🏽
Best ever! Loved the food.. General Tao & Beef fried reice is my fav!
I was in Montreal yesterday for a work meeting, & a colleague recommended this place. The food was actually really good - especially the fried shrimp & the General Tao chicken.
But the service yesterday really ruined the experience. The staff didn't feel very friendly, & one male server in particular was quite rude. He looked like he hadn't slept much - low energy, uninterested, & pretty careless when taking our order. The way he spoke felt dismissive, like he didn't really care, & it honestly seemed like he'd rather be chatting with his coworkers than doing his job.
Also, I think the female server brought us the wrong dish at one point, but we didn't bother saying anything.
What made it more noticeable is that we came back again today, & the two servers we had were great - friendly, attentive, & professional. The difference was very obvious.
If someone doesn't feel like working, they really shouldn't be on shift, because it directly affects the customer experience.
Overall, great food, but the service quality is inconsistent & needs improvement.
I was looking online for good eats in Chinatown for my upcomjng visit to Montreal, & this name kept on popping up so I thought I'd give it a try. I see why it's a local favourite. The general tao chicken was tangier than I expected, but the batter had an amazing crunch juxtaposed with tender & juicy meat. I paired it with a Cantonese sausage fried rice, which was just as good as it smelled. Definitely a good place for food after an evening exploring the port, it's well worth your money.
Great service & quick to get our food out. General Tao chicken was good & crispy but heavily breaded. Broc & beef was delicious as were spring rolls. Dumplings & chicken fried rice were ok.
It is simply delicious. I went with my family to eat. We had a table immediatly since it was a monday. We ordered Pineapple chicken stir-fry, dumplings & fried rice with veggies. Everything was good. I just wished there would be more juice in the dumplings. The chicken was crispy & the flavor was rich. Every ingredients of the pineapple chicken worked harmouniously. Perfecty, I would say. I really hate when the dishes taste like different ingredients mixed together. It's the same for the other dishes. We got served the chicken in few minutes after ordering. Honestly, I don't even know how they managed to make fresh & delicious pineapple chicken like that in just a few minutes. Maybe we arrived little bit after the chicken was made. I don't know. It's a mystery. I really liked the ambiance. I also liked the fact that people were'nt loud there. There is truly no flattery in my words. It is is truly good there. I wish I could taste more. I'll surely come back.
Editing my comment to resposnd to owner:
First read my comment carefully. I didnt say that you gave a free drink for 5 star review.
Before talking about other's behavior, make sure you have those good behavior & good service.
Opionion on your food's quality doesn't bother you. This is the clear sign of quality of your restaurant. Paying a lot to enjoy the food & ambience, but i had very bad experience in both.
This is my review. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, OILY FOODS.
-------Original comment:
Service: not welcoming
** Don't trust reviews from google, most of them are for a free drink **
Fried chicken- call it as fried flour, i need to search chicken in that flour. Too oily & not even 10% chicken.
Stir fried chicken noodles : i ordered stir fried chicken noodles, but they served a plate of oily noodles. & hardly 2-3 pieces of chicken.
Please be aware. Don't take risk.
& the most funny part is, tips starts from 18% for their rude service🫣
In Montreal.. kinda hard-to find.. but hole in the wall type of place.. ordered a spicy chicken & fried rice chicken. Service was fast but kinda rude... food was fresh made & delicious... little too salty but was good.... chicken was tender & flavorful with hot heavy spice.. delicious... vegi rolls sucked .. not fresh but microwaved.....prices were reasonable.. parking kinds sucked .. will come back if in the area.. try other dishes..
Food was mediocre - well, what'I' had was mediocre. Vegetable fried rice. I ate it fast because I was super hungry. Rice had no real flavor. I had to add spicy hot sauce.
The server who prepped my table with a plate with chopsticks & napkins, dropped the plate on the table so hard that it startled me & a woman next to me who looked at me like,'smh'. I read her face good because that's what I was thinking. I know they're rushing & all but still be - aware.
There was a little lady running around there really working hard but as I waited for my table, I watched her do multiple things; handling money, handling plates, coughing into her shirt sleeve. Personally, I wish I could have seen her wash her hands at least once, the whole time. That bothered me but damn, I was hungry.
With that on my mind, I ate my meal. I'm sure the five star reviews are valid but my experience was this one. I will not be back.
To the staff: Don't bomb drop plates & such onto customer tables because you are rushing. Calm down, it's not a good look & it doesn't feel good to the customer. Most importantly, you're all doing alot. WASH YOUR HANDS, especially you Ms. Doing Everything lady.
Overall great Chinese food - some of the best I have ever had.
We ordered a few plates to share - General Tao's Chicken, Beef & Brocolli, Spicy Chicken, Vegetable Noodles, & Vegetable Fried Rice.
The only issue was that the spicy chicken was not at all spicy. It had chili peppers served with the dish, but the chicken itself was not spicy.
Had dinner her last night 12.13.25 while visiting from Florida. It's a small place, upstairs, located in the Chinatown area of Montreal & the food was very good. We had the beef fried rice & the general Tao's chicken. It was just us two, but the generous portions were plenty for 4. If we're in Montreal again, we'd love to try other dishes here.
I may have reviewed this place before but in case I'm stoned:
Chez Chilli is the best chinese I've had in this city by a wide margin. Only La Perle comes close.
I've tried: the laziji, the hong shao rou, salt n pepper porchops, fish stew, yu xiang eggplant, several noodle plates, general tao, salt n spicy chicken, cumin squid, beef & lamb, the spicy beef stew, caramelized shortrib, yang zhou fried rice, & a few others I can't remember. Every single one of these dishes is top notch.
The service is great too. They always reseat us when our orders are huge, they explain the dishes very well in case you have doubts, & they're very friendly.
I'll never stop singing their praises, best chinese you can get, hands down.
General Tao's chicken is very authentic & the fried rice is delicious?
We came in around 6:00 p.m., just before the crowd arrived; it filled up quickly. Loved the fried rice & eggplant/ground pork dish, plus the sizzling beef. A bit too salty overall, but tasty!
Great stir fried green beans. Friendly place, ok atmosphere. Would go back & try more dishes.
The General Tao chicken which was surprisingly crispy, & the massive fried shrimps were the highlight of the meal. In Toronto, you can get better tasting Chinese food for cheaper & bigger portions, for that I just have to call the food decent.
The food came out extremely fast, getting our order & setting table was a bit slow though. Love the lazy Suzan tables though!
Overall 3.3/5
The most authentic Sichuan food in town. It met all the promises & high ratings. Spicy chicken can be spicier. Fried batter is one of the best I tasted. Very satisfied!
