Used to visit here all the time with friends when I lived in the neighborhood, came back to visit on vacation. The honey crisp is still my go to. Friendly staff & quiet dining (keep in mind majority of McGill students are on summer break).
Honestly not only are their chicken tenders amazing but they also make the best burgers in Montreal. I'm moving to a different neighborhood of Montreal & I'm 100% coming back.
Their delivery service is honestly very disappointing. I ordered via Ubereats & they handle deliveries themselves, clearly needs improvement. I placed my order at 11:13 PM on June 29th & didn't receive it until around 1:15 AM - more than a 2-hour wait for my food!!
What made it worse is that the store doesn't even pick up the phone, so there was no way to get an update or know what was happening with my order(called 3x). They really need to consider using Uber delivery or another proper delivery service because the current system is frustrating for customers.
The food itself was decent, 7.5/10, but the delivery experience seriously needs work.
edit: just saw all the reviews about the delivery issues they've been having, & honestly, it looks like this is a recurring problem.
The Mac & cheese is really good, but out of the 5 things I ordered, it was the only one worth eating. The mozzarella sticks say they are regular'with a kick of spice' but taste more like they should be labeled Buffalo mozzarella sticks because the buffalo sauce flavor is way overpowering. The smash burger & chicken fingers were both really mid. The chicken fingers are labeled'jumbo' but are actually quite small & thin as if they have been smashed by a mallet before frying. Seems like a place that would be great if you have been drinking & your standards are low but otherwise I think there are better options. The Mac & cheese was great though.
have been going here for five years & have probably ordered the side macaroni & cheese over a hundred times. they've only messed it up once & even then, were very happy to help fix it. they are CONSISTENT!
yet... somehow, i am not the top level on the app; you need commitment to level up & clearly, i did not have enough. y'all carried me through tough times, throwback to when the side macaroni & cheese was $6
Visited the restaurant to order a poutine & burger. The burger was fantastic until I bit into a piece of cardboard. At first I thought it was just the wrapper but it was literally a piece of cardboard.
For a burger & OG poutine the cost was 37.05 (including 15% tip).
Quality control & customer support are needed.
Will not return.
It's one of my favorite places. Especially Ouss, the delivery guy, who's really nice: he's there with my order in just 2 to 5 minutes. Honestly, he deserves a reward.
While visiting Montreal from the US, I was looking for something nearby that had food that felt like home - not because I disliked the local fare, but it just was a burger-&-fries night. Chef on Call was the right move! I thoroughly enjoyed the food, & the interaction with staff was pleasant. What a cool story behind the business, too! Great concept, & best wishes!
Its difficult for me to rate the food because I never received it. Do NOT order delivery from this place. Their driver will keep you waiting for 1+ hours then suddenly cancel. I suspect their driver is eating my family's food as I write this review. & when you call to complain, they will offer you'a cookie' as compensation. If I were a 5-year old, that might have worked.
