Good sized portion & very tasty. Buffalo flavor definitely comes through with just the right amount of spice. I also had the curly fries with were decent, elevated by the Chef On Call dipping sauce.
Their delivery service is honestly very disappointing. I ordered via Ubereats & they handle deliveries themselves, clearly needs improvement. I placed my order at 11:13 PM on June 29th & didn't receive it until around 1:15 AM - more than a 2-hour wait for my food!!
What made it worse is that the store doesn't even pick up the phone, so there was no way to get an update or know what was happening with my order(called 3x). They really need to consider using Uber delivery or another proper delivery service because the current system is frustrating for customers.
The food itself was decent, 7.5/10, but the delivery experience seriously needs work.
edit: just saw all the reviews about the delivery issues they've been having, & honestly, it looks like this is a recurring problem.
Food is tasty & fresh, decently priced, generous portion on popcorn chicken. Menu, however, is the instagram reels of menus. Dancing nuggets, rotating pasta, moon walking chefs, chicken falling from the sky, a second chef who's dancing. It's too much. The music is that of a nightclub in which amateur DJs practice spinning disks. Its remixes of pop songs with a voice sample saying « put your hands up » every now & then played at an absurd volume, measured at 83 decibels
I've ordered from this Chef on Call location 4-5 times on Uber Eats. The main reason I kept coming back is that the food is decent & they're open late. But every time, I forget how bad the service is, & every time, they prove me right.
The delivery experience is consistently terrible. Not once has the driver called me. They usually leave the order in the lobby with no notice, so I'm left guessing when to go down & get it. Orders are always delayed by at least 30 minutes, & since they use their own drivers, there's no way to track anything. It ends up taking over an hour (sometimes 1h15+) for food from a place that's literally down the street.
On top of that, I've even had orders canceled after waiting close to an hour. When you try to call for an update, you're met with rude, clearly frustrated staff who sound annoyed that you even reached out. I regret giving this place so many chances & will never be ordering again.
Chef on Call continues to disappoint time & time again. One thing they hold back from mentioning is if you choose to order online (as highly suggested on all the signs in the store), you have to wait in line to ask them to prepare the order or you will make the mistake of waiting over an hour for them to call your name, & only later find out that another 15 minute wait will be ahead. The food is decent, but not worth the high price tag as the burgers are often burnt. Would not recommend for any late night needs as the service is non-existent & the food not worth the nearly one & a half hour wait.
Does anyone else have trouble with the responsiveness of the website? Hungg gap & just rolling in the empty. Also, please put login on first page...I don't need, as a customer, to have to go through a landing page or funnel. For the food, you don't order there because your health is important! Comfort food could be better quality for the price paid. More options would be appreciated. Thank you.
Edit: Had a delivery this night & the delivery guy & the receptionist were A1! They must've been very busy cause they had forgotten my tenders & my poutine & offered to give me chef coin credits for the items but I was hungry & asked if there was time to deliver them. So they did & it was quick! Even gave me complementary sauces & a fried mars bar as a surprise! I was elated at the courtesies they showed! But, then again, I was polite & had given a decent tip. The food was good & perfect temperature! I'd still like them to offer more options, if possible but quality is ok for what they offer. I now use the app. as it's way more convenient & less of a pain in the a$$ to go through. You can track your order after the order page or in history of transactions.
Edit2: Got my delivery. My crisp burger was good but not hot hot,you know? & instead of Sprite×1 I got 2×lemoniced tea named Fuze. I didn't know they had this. I saw they had Monster drink in their list when ordering. I wasn't informed of the substitution & I disn't get my salad. Will follow-up with customer service tomorrow about that. I think I'll try ordering earlier than 1h22. Also, I tried installing the app I previously had & it doesn't work, even with location turned on.
Update on edit #2: I was contacted & got 8$ in Chef's coins. He said I didn't receive the right cold bag. He responded in 48 hours. All 😎👍
For the app, he asked some screenshots. LOL! I gave him the black screen I got & the icon of the app. I'll try again & hope it works.🤷?♀?
The chicken burger was average. The patty was slightly dry, the toppings were basic, & the bun was unremarkable. Decent for a quick meal, but nothing to write home about
food used to be better before but it's still decent now. good part is that it's still open late
This place deserves more clients, the food is good, workers are nice, vibes are nice. The poutine is fire, decent price for a meal.
