About

Café Redwood sits quietly near the water, serving as a hub for those who prioritize well-crafted specialty coffee and distinctive matcha preparations. The menu centers on house-made pastries that provide a crisp texture, paired alongside savory sandwiches built with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Notable preparations include thick slices of French toast and a bold wasabi BLT that balances heat with classic components. The interior maintains a cozy, approachable environment suitable for quiet relaxation or focused tasks. Recent updates to the workspace policy shift the environment, yet the core offerings remain anchored in quality bean selection and artisanal preparation. This spot continues to provide a straightforward environment where the focus remains entirely on the sensory details of the beverage and food menu, ensuring that every pastry and sandwich delivered to the table maintains a clear standard of preparation.

Review Summary

Café Redwood is widely appreciated for its modern atmosphere, artisanal coffee, and unique specialty drinks like the pistachio latte and mango matcha. Many visitors praise the high quality of the house made pastries and fresh sandwiches, particularly the wasabi BLT and French toast. While the majority of guests highlight the friendly and passionate service, some have noted inconsistencies in staff demeanor and drink accuracy, alongside concerns regarding occasional overcrowding and premium pricing. Despite these mixed remarks, the establishment remains a popular destination for its vibrant community vibe and consistently flavorful menu offerings.

I used to love coming here. I've been an OG customer since they opened but I am sad to see the dip in the service quality.

Out of my last 4 visits, I noticed my drink order being wrong twice (asking for an iced drink but getting a hot one instead. & asking for a mango matcha but I only got a regular matcha).

I'm sad to see the laptop policy & timed wifi implemented back in march 2025. I understand if it was a weekend policy, or if it's full. But I no longer feel welcomed to stay even if it's a weekday with only half the cafe being occupied… I only visit when I plan to do take out because staying inside feels like they want to turn over tables quickly. I'm also sad to see that drinks are no longer brought to your table if you ate in. Again, I understand if it's busy but it really feels like a drop in service quality knowing that it was much better before.

Pastries are still great & love the addition of more breakfast items! I just miss the atmosphere (being work friendly) & service quality from the past.

Tasty french toast, but overpriced since it didn't fill me up. It has the texture of a cannelé. Very good chou with generous filling. The dulce de leche latte was nice, but nothing special. I'd try it iced. Overall I paid almost 40$ for these 3 items so depends on your budget. I would try the other pastries, but not brunch again.

Lovely cafe & staff with a few but delicious pastries.

Other savory food options available but haven't tried yet.

I prefere this coffee shop in the area because my long nosed friend doesn't need to wait outside in the cold

I've been coming here for years & I always love it. The coffee is fantastic, but the iced matchas with all the house made syrups (my favorite is the mango) are a showstopper. All the food & pastries are house made & so fresh. My go tos are the madeleines, the seasonal palmiers, the lava cakes & the incredible cream puffs. Their sandwiches made one fresh focaccia are incredible too, the chipotle chicken salad is unlike anything I've had before. It's very much worth your time to come & brunch on the weekends, when they have a creamy custardy French toast. Never had any issue with staff or wait, overall love coming here!

Cafe redwood is one of my favorite cafe in Montreal. The Dulce de leche latte is definitely one of my favorites in the city. They also have pretty tasty pastries as well.

Really liked this place. Bright open Scandi style decor & a wide range of drinks options, from standard teas & coffees to London Fog, pistachio milk, home made chai etc etc. Plus an equally eclectic mix of home made cakes & pastries, sandwiches etc. Friendly staff .
