Review Summary

Overall, reviews of Café Moonday describe a charming, cozy space where candle making is the standout draw. Guests praise the wide range of fragrances, easy to follow instructions, and the sense of creativity and relaxation as they blend scents and craft their own candles. The cafe portion is appreciated for good coffee, pastries, and a calm vibe, with extras like board games that help pass the wait time. The atmosphere is often called cute, intimate, and welcoming, suitable for dates, girls nights, or friend gatherings. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, though a few visits note rushed or inconsistent explanations, staff who seem pressed during busy periods, and occasional miscommunications or stricter entrance policies that dampen the experience. Decor is sometimes described as cute but not upscale, and a few reviewers mention cleanliness issues or higher prices relative to what is offered. Despite these concerns, many reviewers call the activity enjoyable and say they would return to enjoy another candle together, making Café Moonday a memorable, creative outing with room for improvement in service and ambiance.

Cafe Moonday was such a great experience! The hot chocolate was honestly amazing-super rich & comforting. The activity itself was so fun & relaxing, & I loved that they had board games available to play while waiting, which made the whole visit even better.

They also have so many different scents to choose from, so you can really personalize your candle. Plus, their stickers are so cute, it's such a small detail but it adds a lot to the experience!!

The staff were all incredibly nice & helpful throughout, which made everything feel really welcoming. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for something fun & cozy to do! Perfect for a date night too :)

I went there for my birthday was totally new to the place & felt so welcomed the second i came in. It was a good experience because as soon as you came in someone come to you & explain that you do the activity at you own pace while reading instructions near you. The place is vibrant & cozy , you can hear the other person talking when you talk. While waiting for the wax to harden you can play some games or order yourself a drink/pastry at the counter which are very good ! I recommend the place if you want to do an activity calm & relaxing where you can choose the next scent of your room & chat with your friends while playing some little games!

Went for valentine's day & absolutely loved our experience! It was a busy day for them but they helped every client & cared for everyone. It was a fun creative activity & I enjoyed that they have board games to use during wait times. I would definitely go back 😊

The experience was great, loved choosing the scents & the card games while we waited for our candles to be ready. A really fun date. There wasn't a large variety of food but what we ate was delicious! Recommend this highly to small groups of friends, couples & dates for chill activities

Went there for the first time & gotta say my friend & I liked our experience. Our drinks were really good & it was nice to have some games to play while we were waiting for our candles to dry. I wish there was an orange scent to put in my candle but still liked what I got in the end. I settled for banana & strawberry scent.

I recently booked a spot at Cafe Moonday's candle-making class ($39.95), & it turned out to be the perfect way to spend a rainy spring afternoon in Montreal. While the dreary weather outside could've easily made the day feel bleak, the warm, cozy atmosphere of the cafe immediately made me feel at ease. It was exactly what I needed to shake off the chill & try something new.

Stay tuned for my video review on TikTok (@Foxy.appetite) & Instagram (@Foxyappetite)!

The Class:

The candle-making experience was wonderfully intimate & personalized. Each group had its own small table, making it an ideal choice for a date or a group of friends. This setup created a cozy, laid-back vibe that felt just right. The instructors were friendly & incredibly helpful, offering guidance when needed while giving us the freedom to experiment & craft our own unique candles. They walked us through the entire process step-by-step, from selecting up to three fragrance oils to blending them at the perfect temperature before pouring the wax into the jar.

One of the things I really appreciated was that the instructors took care of heating the wax for us, so we could focus on the fun part-mixing our chosen scents. I had a blast experimenting with different combinations & ended up choosing clean cotton, magnolia, & grapefruit. The result? A beautiful candle with a fresh, balanced scent that felt truly personal, & it smells absolutely amazing. I decided to call it'Fresh Bloom.'

Final Thoughts:

Cafe Moonday's candle-making class is an exceptional way to spend a few hours in Montreal, whether you're a local or just visiting. It offers a creative & relaxing escape, where you can unwind while learning something new. If you're looking for a fun, hands-on experience, I highly recommend this class. While waiting for our candles to cool, I enjoyed a delicious latte & a slice of banana bread, & the cafe even had games & puzzles to pass the time-an unexpected but charming touch!

By the end of the class, I walked away not only with a beautifully crafted candle but also with a newfound appreciation for the art of candle-making. It was the perfect way to spend a peaceful, creative afternoon. Whether you're looking to try something new or simply want to relax in a cozy setting, this class is a must-try in Montreal!
