I'm not a coffee drinker, but I brought some friends from out of town to Café Even & we had a great time.

We were really impressed with how friendly & knowledgeable the barista was.

What stood out most was how personal everything felt. The barista takes the time to make your coffee, bring it over, & explain how to enjoy it. It didn't feel rushed at all.

Had to argue with the barista that I wanted a glass cup for the 18$ pour over. Dunno why he felt the need to deny my preference. He had them, there was some clean…

The cup was good, but the anaerobic stood out a bit too much. Brew method was fine, no adverse effects from water temp or contact time.

Exceptional coffee.

If you are a gear nerd you'll also appreciate the 3(!) high end grinders they have in here. Seeing that should leave you reassured they know what they're doing, but equipment alone doesn't mean it'll be good.

The menu has multiple special options, including a competition grade Nestor Lasso Ombligon.

I had just came in from the SCA expo, where I'd tasted a bunch of extremely interesting & obscure coffees, this still stood out to me. Brewed to perfection, with excellent clarity & tropical fruit notes, even with an ever-growing line at the bar the barista didn't rush my drink.

This place is a rare find in the city, a place where each drink is prepared meticulously & the customers are told they may have to wait. I'm super impressed by this café!
