Café DAX comes across as a warm, locally owned spot in Outremont where a hands on owner and a friendly team create a welcoming atmosphere and consistently excellent coffee and drinks, open seven days a week. The cafe earns praise for its cozy ambiance, indoor and outdoor seating, and a menu that ranges from specialty coffee and chai lattes to grilled cheese, croissant sandwiches, and treats like a dulce de leche donut, with a standout vegan gluten free cookie noted by many. The offering expands with wine by the glass and an on site sommelier, and plans to add frozen gourmet treats as part of an expansion. Guests describe it as a favorite for meetings and casual visits with friends, with service described as attentive and courteous. The space is also known for being pet friendly with dogs welcome, though a few reviews mention crowding in winter in the small space. Overall it is viewed as a top Montreal pick for third wave coffee, thoughtful bites, and a charming neighborhood vibe, with a terrace for summer and a convenient location near the metro.
Very nice coffee. Grilled cheese with ham was great but look, it's about $8 for a tiny sandwich it can be a treat only once in a while. The coffee is exceptional though, clearly they are using great coffee beans & baristas are extremely kind & professional. Overall it's worth a visit for a good cup of coffee.
Great location, right next to Outremont metro station. Has a nice little terrace. The espresso was great. I had a grilled ham grilled cheese & it was very good as well. The owner is very knowledgeable & passionate about coffee. Staff was nice too.
Met a friend for coffee & was my first time there. A quaint little place. Wasn't crazy about a dog being inside due to allergies. Service was friendly & efficient. I ordered a macchiato & a plain croissant. The croissant was delicious. The coffee was also excellent. Super rich & full bodied. Once we ordered, we were told our items would be brought out to us on the sidewalk terrace. I asked the cashier to bring me extra sugar when he brought my coffee out. Coffees came & no sugar. Was quickly remedied by the waiter. A nice place with reasonably priced premium coffee. Will be back with my wife.

I'm always excited to discover new coffee shops & Dax had been on my list for a while as it always looked cozy & fun whenever I saw it while driving on Van Horne. My girlfriend & I decided to visit today to get iced drinks on a very hot summer day. When I walked in, I was super happy to see shelves of small-batch coffee beans & cute to-go cups, etc. Honestly, I just really liked the aesthetic & vibes. The baristas were also quite polite. Where it all went wrong for me is the fact that another customer (who appears to be a regular by the name of Thierry) felt it was appropriate to look me over & say I was a "nice view" (TWICE.) What started as a friendly conversation about cortados quickly became weird & uncomfortable. When he asked me for my name & then my last name & I told him I wasn't comfortable, he quietly cussed me out before chatting up others in the coffee shop. Now, I know that this technically isn't the café's fault, but this all happened in front of the main counter & not one employee batted an eye. It didn't make me feel safe & largely because of this I'm not sure I'd want to come back here. Also, make sure to ask for extra syrup in your iced latte or cortado because they really don't put a lot. EDIT: Dominic, thank you for your reply. You must have me confused for someone else because I did not talk to any manager about this. I'm glad you told this man to leave, but that was already after I had left.
They seriously have the best espresso in Montreal!! You also have to try their grilled cheese, it's unlike any I've ever had. Great place to sit & enjoy a coffee.

Coffee (both filter & espresso-based drinks) are always tasty & consistent week in & week out - something hard to find among mtl cafes. Wine selection is one of the most impressively curated in town. Vibes & staff are always on point!
Pretty cool place just nearby the metro, great coffee choices, matcha, pastry & lunch menu + option of a vast variety of wines for all tastes ;) love the vibes !
Not quite the coffee shop atmosphere that I look for Service was great. Knowledgeable friendly. Pastry choices very limited. A bit cramped. The coffee however was excellent. Overall will probably go back but not as a destination I will try a sandwich next time.
Love this cute cafe! The latte is always on point & the pastries are very yummy. Hard to resist! It has lots of natural light making it an ideal place for coffee dates.
Used to be my favourite coffee spot, but I feel like the quality has gone down in the last year- the coffee used to be richer, creamier; maybe they changed the coffee beans or something, but it's not the same :/ still pretty good though
I requested an Americano & got an espresso, my friend asks for a macchiato coffee & it took literally 10 minutes! & no apologies for the delay.
Not going back!!
