SaladsSandwichesDesserts & SweetsMarketBoutique-CounterBrunch
La Cabane d'à côté is located on the land next to the Au Pied de Cochon maple grove. The concept is to prepare dishes in front of customers, with the evaporator as the centerpiece. Renowned for its country-style dining and traditional picnics in the orchard, La Cabane d'à côté promotes self-sufficiency and local farm produce. The fixed-price, shareable menu focuses on the simplicity and finesse of Quebec produce. The chef and his team use the land as a larder, keeping things classic with a touch of originality. With a view of the orchard and gardens, the Cabane d'à côté offers an intimate and convivial atmosphere.

Review Summary

Reviews depict Cabane d'à Coté / Cidrerie Au Pied de Cochon as a charming outdoor, rustic dining experience where food is often cooked over firewood and presented as a generous picnic-style meal among apple trees, with options to dine under parasols or on the lawn and a flexible, family-friendly vibe. The kitchen attracts praise for fresh, local ingredients and creative flavors, with standout dishes and a mix of desserts, while the overall experience is frequently described as romantic and convivial, ideal for gatherings with friends and family. Service is noted as welcoming and attentive on many visits, though several reviews mention slower pacing between courses, occasional gaps in logistics for larger groups, and some concerns about value for money given portion sizes. The setting and atmosphere, the ability to pair meals with cider or wine, and the sense of seasonality make it a memorable destination, with dogs welcome and ample opportunities to stroll among the trees.

This is a brilliant concept by a top restaurateur. Au Pied du Cochon has successfully diversified from a big-city bistro to a rural sugar shack to a delightful rustic picnic purveyor. It is a perfect venue for a large gathering of family & friends, with imaginative dishes using wholesome locally sourced ingredients. Their booking system is very flexible, with a 4-day window in which to collect your hampers (pay on collection), so you can watch the weather & go anytime you want. If you decide not to go at all, you only lose the $5 booking fee. The setting is lovely, with ample shade. All the tables have large parasols or are under big tents. The tables are spaced out enough that each party has privacy. It's nice to stroll around among the apple trees to digest.

When we were there, my mother had a heatstroke which scared us into calling an ambulance. The staff were incredibly responsive & caring. We were seated not far from the counter, & they immediately noticed something was wrong & rushed over with an ice bucket & towels. The hostess called the ambulance for us & stood by to flag them down.
