About

Cabane à sucre Lalande specializes in traditional Quebecois maple-centric cuisine that highlights the artisanal production of liquid gold directly from the surrounding forest trees. The menu emphasizes authentic sugar shack staples including thick pea soup, crispy salt pork, fluffy omelets, and slow-cooked beans simmered to perfection. Freshly made tourtière and local smoked ham provide robust protein options alongside golden, crispy cretons. Dessert selections feature iconic maple taffy pulled on snow, warm pancakes drizzled in dark syrup, and sugar pie that reflects regional culinary heritage. The environment focuses on rustic wooden architecture and communal settings that facilitate a direct connection to agricultural production. Every dish utilizes maple syrup harvested on site to provide a cohesive flavor profile that defines this historical gastronomic experience during the peak tapping season.

Review Summary

Cabane à sucre Lalande is widely recognized as a versatile and beautiful venue for weddings, corporate gatherings, and family celebrations, offering a rustic and charming atmosphere that many visitors find truly memorable. While the majority of reviews praise the delicious, traditional food and the warm, professional service provided by the staff, some guests have noted inconsistencies in service quality and occasional crowding in the dining areas during peak times. The spacious facilities and scenic surroundings are frequently highlighted as major assets, making it a popular choice for those seeking an authentic Quebecois experience. Although experiences can vary depending on the specific event or staff availability, the overall sentiment remains highly positive, with many patrons expressing a desire to return for future festivities.

We come to this establishment yearly, sometimes more than once a year during the "sucre" season. This has been a tradition in my family since before my birth (over 50 years +). The greeting personnel were fantastic!! The attention given to our requests i.e. person having had recent leg surgery as well as individuals having food allergies/vegan/food restrictions were easily accommodated. Reserved table was in a great location space-wise. This year our visit had a duel function, it was a gathering to celebrate my daughter's recent elopement. Unfortunately our table was located immediately next to the musician/singer entertainer. This made it extremely difficult to partake in conversations amongst ourselves & we would have appreciated a much more quiet location. Also, we were extremely surprised with our server. She was constantly QUESTIONING our requests for more food (ie more bread, more omelettes etc.) stating that it would go to waste if we were unable to complete this additional food in its entirety. I understand the need to reduce left overs, but this is also an "all you can eat" meal therefore, we shouldn't have to explain wanting more food & we couldn't understand her resistance to our orders. We also had lengthy waiting periods for our service & had to make repeated requests for drinks, water etc.
