On adore!
The best fish & chips this side of the Atlantic!
This English-style pub nails it. The fish was golden, crispy, & flaky on the inside-absolutely perfect. The chips were thick-cut & perfectly seasoned, & the house tartare sauce took it all to the next level.
The beer selection is just as impressive: plenty of local brews & classic English pints on tap, poured just right. The pub has that cozy, authentic feel-dim lighting, dark wood, & the hum of good conversation.
If you're craving proper fish & chips with a cold pint in hand, this is the place. Can't wait to go back!
The food was great, & the service was amazing.
The only thing that ruined my time was that there was another guest who thought that the public space was her own personal place. She had the nerve to bother other patrons who were sitting down, asking them if they were done. Then, once she did get a place to see othside on the terrace, she decided that she needed to remove her shoes & actually take a chair from another table to put her feet up. It really ruined the whole experience of being there.
Pub très fréquenté du quartier. Accueil courtois.
We had Bangers & Mash, Scotch Egg & Chicken Tikka Masala. BL is my go-to pub & I think that was the best Bangers & Mash I've ever had. In fact I'm still thinking about it!
Food was just OK, although special mention on the fries which were very good. Place is super loud - very difficult to have any sort of conversation - louder than a typical pub style restaurant.
Great food at a reasonable price. Excellent service despite it being very busy that night. Cheery atmosphere, just like a pub should have. Will be back
Arsenal fans unite in mtl , exellent beer choice . Great pub, food meh but great place anyway
Summary: Awesome, Trivia Night is so worth it, & order the Lancashire Hot Pot if you LIKE bland English cuisine.
Gorgeous pub! It's 3 floors high & the ambiance is very nice. We went for Trivia Night Monday & our host was Sarah- super charismatic & overall challenging & fun questions! Our waitress was also very sweet & she tried to be as timely despite being a busy night. Food came quick after ordering.
My friends (x3) & I ordered: Gnocchi, Burger, Fish N' Chips, & the Hot Pot.
The gnocchi & burger were reported to be very delicious. The fish n' chips were kinda small for the price.
My hot pot… was Very Bland. Granted, I'm not English or White. But I encouraged my White friends (who happen to be of English descent) to try a few bites. Even they were saying it was bland- that's with me adding boatloads of salt & pepper too. The salad that comes with it is also some basic Italian (North American style) dressing & it's… just so meh for $32. Oh well!
We had a great time :) Will be returning to try other dishes & down a pint of Murphy's.
Nous adorons l'ambiance de pub! Coup de coeur +++ pour le meilleur mac n cheese!
I LOVE this place. Such a classic cozy'calm night' that can always turn rowdy. Always a great crowd & service. Very classic English pub, menu & taps included. I always get the Fish & Chips, this time geared toward the Leek & Chicken pie. YUM!! Wish I got the classic greasy fries though, but the mash was ok. Spaghetti was also unreal. Breakfast is always 10/10 too
Go to place to watch the English Premier League. Great vibe, cheap pints, & good crowd. Aside from soccer the pub is also just a nice place to enjoy a beer.
I attended a recent Con U event, service was good, food mediocre, pub is noisy when full of people...
The drink selection here is fantastic! I loved the variety of beers & enjoyed the chill jazz music, which paired surprisingly well with the classic English pub interior. The ambience was unique & definitely a highlight of the visit. However, the food & service didn't meet my expectations. The burger was served cold, we had to ask spicy sauce just to add some flavour to meal. With some slight improvement in service this place definitely will become a #1 pub interior Montréal.
I apologize for this long write-up, but unfortunately I have to write a negative review for an establishment that's been at the top of it's game, but has been going steadily downhill :/ I live & work in the neighbourhood & have been going to the pub since it opened; my colleagues & I normally go there for lunch once in a while as well. On my last visit, I went for brunch on a Sunday late morning, with a friend. We reserved in advance. 1) Once seated we were pretty much forgotten by the waitress & had to literally run after her to get served. 2) The pub was showing a game on the TVs (which is great), but there was a group of people on the 2nd floor that were so loud that my friend & I couldnt hear ourselves talk, despite seating inches appart in front of each other & our table was diagonally at the opposite end of the pub where the soccer fans were sitting - other customers (many elderly people) were clearly disturbed by this racket as well - the folks upstairs were literally acting as if they were in a stadium - louder than loud. That being said, when the waitress brought us our food, I asked her if there was some special event going on & pointed out the inconvenience of the excessive noise.. as an answer, I got (with an unwelcoming tone/attitude).. & I quote.. ".. this is how it is here.. this is the pub experience.. you should expect this kind of atmosphere when coming here"; not even a "sorry for the inconvenience".. almost as if to say "you don't like it you can leave" - This was ON A SUNDAY MORNING For the record, I also visit their sister pub, Wolf & Workman, & there is never such atmosphere there; the staff is very warm & welcoming & even if busy, there is never a racket, at least not a ridiculous one like this time at the Lion 3) Last but not least, while the food is quite good, the presentation & portion size of some dishes is totally not worth the money; I ordered eggs benedict with salmon; while the price was within the norm ($24), all I got was a few very tiny slivers of salmon & barely a tablespoon of hollandaise (on english muffin with eggs, of course) & a little bunch of potatoes; no fruit, no effort in presentation, nothing.. it looked like it was just slapped together in a hurry.. This place is becoming less & less desirable & makes us feel less welcome. Once again, my apologies for this long review.. & thanks for having taken the time to read it.
A nice pub, the fish & chips are good & the fries & burgers are decent. A pint of the house beer is reasonably priced & not bad.
