Unfortunately we arrived at 9am & were turned away. I suggest removing that from your page. We did also call twice in advance to no answer.
Proper elevated British style pub in MTL. If only the showed Rugby games!!!
Love the Lion - been coming here for a couple years now. Premier League games, pub trivia (shoutout to Brian), great whiskey, some forgotten beers - they got it all. The staff at the Lion are lovely people - kind, nice, & always willing to help.
The Burgundy Lion has been a beloved part of Montreal's community for 17 years, & it's easy to see why. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're welcomed by the cozy, lively atmosphere that perfectly blends British pub tradition with Montreal's unique charm.
The food is consistently excellent-comforting classics with a modern twist-& the beverage selection is second to none, featuring a fantastic range of beers, whiskies, & cocktails. Whether you're there for a hearty meal, a casual drink, or to catch a big game, the staff always make you feel like part of the family.
What truly sets The Burgundy Lion apart is its role as a gathering place. For nearly two decades, it has brought people together to celebrate, cheer, & connect over good food & great company. It's more than just a pub-it's a Montreal institution that continues to serve its community with warmth & pride.
Cheers to 17 years of good times & many more to come!
We had an amazing time at Burgundy Lion! Our group (Les Glorieux, Botafogo fans from Montreal) was looking for a place to call home for our match days - & the staff here welcomed us with open arms.
The atmosphere was perfect, the service was top-notch, & everyone made us feel truly at home. They even helped us set up the stream for our Brazilian league match, & we had a blast celebrating together.
It's rare to find a bar that feels like yours from day one, but Burgundy Lion delivered. Looking forward to many more game days here. Obrigado! 🖤🤍
Perfect place to enjoy Sunday morning PL football games. Great atmosphere.
Food was hit or miss - some things were good but the burrata was horrible. Service was great & great place to watch the hockey game
Everything was great, Staff were friendy & polite. Saw a Champions League Soccer game, greay Vibe
I apologize for this long write-up, but unfortunately I have to write a negative review for an establishment that's been at the top of it's game, but has been going steadily downhill :/ I live & work in the neighbourhood & have been going to the pub since it opened; my colleagues & I normally go there for lunch once in a while as well. On my last visit, I went for brunch on a Sunday late morning, with a friend. We reserved in advance. 1) Once seated we were pretty much forgotten by the waitress & had to literally run after her to get served. 2) The pub was showing a game on the TVs (which is great), but there was a group of people on the 2nd floor that were so loud that my friend & I couldnt hear ourselves talk, despite seating inches appart in front of each other & our table was diagonally at the opposite end of the pub where the soccer fans were sitting - other customers (many elderly people) were clearly disturbed by this racket as well - the folks upstairs were literally acting as if they were in a stadium - louder than loud. That being said, when the waitress brought us our food, I asked her if there was some special event going on & pointed out the inconvenience of the excessive noise.. as an answer, I got (with an unwelcoming tone/attitude).. & I quote.. ".. this is how it is here.. this is the pub experience.. you should expect this kind of atmosphere when coming here"; not even a "sorry for the inconvenience".. almost as if to say "you don't like it you can leave" - This was ON A SUNDAY MORNING For the record, I also visit their sister pub, Wolf & Workman, & there is never such atmosphere there; the staff is very warm & welcoming & even if busy, there is never a racket, at least not a ridiculous one like this time at the Lion 3) Last but not least, while the food is quite good, the presentation & portion size of some dishes is totally not worth the money; I ordered eggs benedict with salmon; while the price was within the norm ($24), all I got was a few very tiny slivers of salmon & barely a tablespoon of hollandaise (on english muffin with eggs, of course) & a little bunch of potatoes; no fruit, no effort in presentation, nothing.. it looked like it was just slapped together in a hurry.. This place is becoming less & less desirable & makes us feel less welcome. Once again, my apologies for this long review.. & thanks for having taken the time to read it.
Awesome place to eat & drink in Montreal. Staff is very helpful & fun to talk to. There is a variety of food choices. They open early if you have to see a soccer game with other fans. Saw them line up from our rental.
Fun spot to grand a drink & watch the game. The fans are respectful & the staff is top! The beans.. not the best & overall expensive for what you get.
A cheeky bangers & mash & some pints to enjoy the Canada game. Premium pub experience in the heart of the Montreal to down some cold ones with friends & watch sports.
Je vais toujours ici pour écouter les game de Premier League ou la finale de la Champion's League. L'ambiance est vraiment bonne. La bouffe est ok, je recommande de prendre une valeur sûre comme le fish n chip. Nice spot 👍
Go to pub for any football game, staff are always amenable & helpful. Atmosphere is buzzing.
I've been here so many times & every time it's great. On my last visit, I emailed & asked if they could show a football game, it wasn't a premier league game, so it wasn't clear if it would be shown, but we decided to go anyway. It turned out it was available, but there was also a main game (liverpool vs man u) so I did't really expect to see the might Peterborough United in the Bristol Street Motors final... HOWEVER... when we arrived, we were told that we had an area at the back, so we pretty much had a private showing... ordered food (scotch eggs... so good. Fish & Chips... so good) & my team won. Staff are always amazing. Service is always great. love this place.
Favorite spot to catch a game of rugby or futball. Staff is always amazing, the food is great & the beer is cold.
Came to this place after hearing a lot in social media & with friends. If you're a sports fan, then this is a must go place. I went to watch Chelsea V Arsenal, where we drew 2-2, but still the atmosphere was lit. The game was followed by Rugby Semi Finals, & to my surprise the place was packed in all its 3 levels of storeys. You also get a selection of whiskeys, beers & basic cocktails. However the pricing is premium so I reckon you fill your wallet before you come here. I only was offered Breakfast Menu where there was options of Fish & Chips or Burger so cant say much on its food menu. Anyways, it's at least a must visit place for sports fanatics
