Not welcoming for visitors. They put visitors in the tea room with a horrible view. Can't sit at the bar which is reserved for AMMO members.
Would not waste time here.
I recently had a wonderful afternoon tea experience at Burgundy Lion. If you are looking for a relaxing spot to chat & enjoy some great treats, this is a fantastic choice.
The Atmosphere
We sat on the second floor, which is beautifully decorated like a greenhouse. With the glass roof & plenty of lush green leaves, the vibe was perfect for a long catch-up with friends. It felt bright, airy, & very cozy.
The Food & Drink
• Tea Service: Each person gets their own pot of tea, & the best part is that refills are free! The tea quality was excellent.
• Three-Tiered Tray: The presentation was lovely. We received three trays of pastries including:
• Top Tier: Macarons, canelés, & bite-sized chocolate treats.
• Middle Tier: Warm scones served with cream, jam, & butter.
• Bottom Tier: A variety of fresh finger sandwiches on different types of bread.
• Taste: Everything was very delicious & tasted fresh.
Value
The price was $60 per person, which included tax & required no extra tips. Given the quality of the food, the unlimited tea, & the beautiful setting, it felt like a very fair price for the experience.
Final Verdict: Highly recommend for anyone looking for a high-quality afternoon tea with a unique greenhouse atmosphere!
Pub Burgundy Lion is a true gem in the heart of Little Burgundy, offering a perfect blend of traditional British pub charm & Montreal's vibrant personality. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere with dark wood interiors, vintage decor, & a lively yet relaxed crowd. It feels both familiar & unique-like stepping into a classic pub with a twist.
The food is consistently excellent, with comforting British staples like fish & chips, shepherd's pie, & a proper Sunday roast. Everything is made with care, & portions are generous. It's the kind of place where you'll want to try everything on the menu over time. The staff is friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable-especially when it comes to drinks.
Speaking of drinks, the whisky selection is exceptional-one of the largest in Quebec. Whether you're a casual sipper or a connoisseur, there's something to discover. Their beer list is also solid, with local & international options that complement the hearty menu.
What really sets Burgundy Lion apart is its community feel. From quiz nights & sporting events to afternoon tea service & whisky tastings, there's always something happening. It's a place where locals & visitors feel equally at home.
In short, Burgundy Lion isn't just a pub-it's an experience. Delicious food, great drinks, & a welcoming vibe make it one of Montreal's most beloved spots.
Hosted a 40th birthday party in the tea room. Beautiful atmosphere. Service was very friendly & helpful, & even very patient with the children. Service was a little bit slow but over all very happy with the event!
Went for trivia & the host hated our team name but gave us sour patch kids so that made up for it. Good mushy peas perfectly mushed the way they do it in England innit! Wish I took a clipping from the plant wall because they were getting quite overgrown but maybe it's morally better that I didn't
Im asked to talk about my High Tea experience (55$/pers)...
Well I would invite the kitchen to double check the definition of high tea online (more of a meal, vegetables, meat...), & also how scones are ALWAYS service with (cream, jam...).
Also, at 55$ per person, with 2 kids (who im paying 55$ each)... usually you can substitute tea for juice. I even substitute for a cappuccino elsewhere, no charge!.
