From the friendly staff to the vast array of baked goods, you can't beat this place. Their artisan bread selection is great. They have various sandwiches in savory items, & every type of coffee you want. But the best part to me were the flaky French pastries, & various cookies they make. In my travels, I visit every French bakery up, possibly can. This place ranks way up at the top level. Add to that, the staff is quite friendly & accommodating with no attitude at all.
I had never tried'fougasse' with olives before. Lot of delicious options of bread & croissant at the famers market at Baldwin Park. Guess they'll see me every Saturday :p

If you've ever dreamed of reliving those lazy Parisian mornings-where the scent of fresh croissants mingles with the hum of café chatter-then Boulangerie Le Toledo is your Montreal dream come true.
From the moment you step inside, the air is thick with the aroma of artisan breads & buttery pastries. The vibe? Think cozy corner bistro with a touch of Montreal joie de vivre. The staff are friendly & efficient, & the space is always buzzing with locals & visitors alike.
Now, let's talk highlights. The chausson aux pommes-oh là là! Generous, flaky, & bursting with apple goodness. It's hands-down the best I've had in Canada, & every bite whisks me back to my student days in France, where pastries were a way of life. Pair it with their espresso, which is robust, smooth, & just the right temperature.
But don't stop at the chausson. The croissants are buttery & crisp, the sourdough is chewy perfection, & the sandwiches (especially the bagnat poulet & ciabatta with tuna) are worthy of a Parisian lunch break. The almond croissant? A must-try.
Le Toledo isn't just a bakery, it's a destination. With its communal tables, free WiFi, & sunlit windows, it's the perfect spot to linger with a book or catch up with friends. Whether you're a Montreal local or just passing through, make sure to arrive early!
Final verdict: If you're looking for a reason to fall in love with Le Plateau all over again, this is it. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
I went on a Sunday morning, it was full house. I had an almond croissant with iced latte. The croissant was very fresh but the latte was very ordinary, it was not exciting.
Nice atmosphere. Of course, I had to wait as there were many people. During summers they have outside sitting so I was able to find a place. The staff was very welcoming & even apologized often as I had to wait.
My daughters & I visited Montreal for our summer vacation & this is the one place we will miss the most. As croissant & coffee connoisseurs, we all agreed this was the best we've ever had!! We told ourselves that we would force ourselves to try new cafes each day of our 11 day trip but we kept finding ourselves back at Le Toledo every single morning.
