Bootlegger Cocktail Bar & Cuisine est largement salué pour ses cocktails créatifs, une excellente sélection de whiskies et une ambiance speakeasy accueillante avec un service attentif; le lieu offre des cocktails bien équilibrés, des huîtres en happy hour et une atmosphère chaleureuse et intime qui en fait une adresse idéale pour un rendez vous, entre amis ou un moment plus posé, agrémentée de concerts de jazz live le dimanche. Certaines notes mentionnent un service parfois irrégulier ou lent, des prix élevés et des incohérences dans certains plats, mais dans l'ensemble l'impression générale est celle d'un endroit unique et remarquable, un vrai coup de cœur pour les amateurs de cocktails et pour l'ambiance rétro.
Bootlegger Cocktail bar was highly recommended to my partner & I by our good friends who often visit Montreal. The decor is very cool, a total throwback to the prohibition era. The menu is vast, which can be intimidating but our server, Tyler, who was extremely attentive, friendly & knowledgeable, saved the day. Tyler made several excellent recommendations for tasty cocktails & we both loved our drinks. The food menu offers quite a variety. The East Coast oysters were delicious & the'piece de resistance' was the fabulous Vegge share platter. The tomato tapenade was mouthwateringly good! Bootlegger is a great destination for a great date night!
Live jazz + $1 oysters?! Heaven on earth?! New favorite bar. Especially on Sundays (for the $1 oysters). We had the spinach dip, caviar, escargot, & oysters. Cocktails are phenomenal. Fleur Bleu absinthe is a great starter for those new to absinthe (like me). Tony was absolutely fantastic in guiding us through the entire menu, especially cocktails. If I ever live in Montreal, I'll be a regular here

Tony our server was absolutely splendid accomodating , the oysters are super fresh & exactly what we love . Host is wonderful, the place is fantastic overall highly recommend
Amazing place to unwind & enjoy some great food & rinks with friends. Drinks were great, oysters were amazing. Beautiful place to have a nice night with friends!

Went for jazz music & $1 oysters. We loved our oysters & the handmade hot sauce to complement them! Lots of unique cocktails to choose from, which were all a great hit. Music & ambiance were just what we were looking for!
We went for the 5-7 happy hour, & tried all cocktails from the happy hour menu. On a unianimous voting the Moscow Moule stood the best. Oysters for dollar 1 is pretty impressive, the special tabasco sauce makes it great. The decor is nice, the bar has a relaxed vibe & overall great service. Don't know the name of the person who welcomed us, certainly did not make us feel welcome. We had to wait despite having made a reservation. But Antoine (Tony) was a sweetheart, excellent service. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
Such a hidden gem! We came here on a monday for their oysters special but they ran out since they have that same special all night long on a sunday jazz night. However, we still ended up having the best meal ever. The price compared to the quality & quantity so just wow, left me speechless. Definitely a good location for a date night or drinks with friends. 10/10 solid & impressive choice.
Writing a review for this place is difficult because there's so much to talk about. First, when you step in you feel like you're transported into a secret society of some sort. The red lighting, the stacked bar, the booths & the decor bring about an enticing & exciting atmosphere that is yet to be matched (in my humble experience, of course). I went to their 5 à 7 cocktail hour to enjoy dollar oysters, five dollar pints of good beer (they have a very decent offer) & a cocktail. I didn't want to leave. The barmen are VERY talented & show dedication & love to both their craft & their customers. For a girl who went alone, I felt safe & cared for. I would love to go back for one of their Sunday Jazz evenings, or just to go back for their 5à7. Whatever the occasion, just go! It's definitely worth while & one of my new favourite spots to get a drink in Montreal.

The service leaves much to be desired. The oysters are great but they "run out" fast. The drinks are good but the amount served in the whisky tasting was ridiculously small. The rest of the menu is expensive & average at best. We were greeted by a passive aggressive host & a waiter that had the same attitude. Really disappointing.
Felix served us & was great! He made very enlightened recommendations based on our taste. We tasted a total of 6 whiskey & we'll be back for some more! We had 1$ oysters & the charcuterie plate extra foie gras were delish! We will be back for the jazz show next time!
Service was excelente! $1 oysters was just amazing! Excellent food, nice drinks...but, honestly...the service was really good!! For sure I'll come back!!
Had a pretty good first experience at Bootlegger for a Sunday night. Cozy room, buck a shuck oysters, fantastic bar program & we were lucky enough to have live jazz. The only negative feedback is I had asked what the speed rail vodka was because I just wanted a dirty martini, I was shocked to see it was 19 dollars with a 1 dollar charge for olive juice. If I knew a basic, non premium martini was going to be 20 dollars I would have tried one of the cocktails from the menu, a little steep.

Hidden Gems of MTL! A great variety of drinks, specializing in absinthe & whiskey! We tried a smoking lisa. On Sundays, you can enjoy oysters for just a dollar! The only problem was that I think there was a mistake with our bill, as they charged us for nachos twice. We ordered nachos once, & for the next round of drinks, we asked for fries. However, the waiter brought both fries & nachos. We told him we didn't order nachos again, so he took them back, but it seems we were still charged for the extra nachos we didn't have!
Definitely recommend going for happy hour. Enjoyed the 1$ oyster special. PEI Oysters were delicious & the house made habanero was great. Shoutout to Tony for impeccable service & Vincent for amazing cocktails. Will revisit next time i'm in Montreal.
