We had a great experience at Bootlegger! Remi was very knowledgeable about the drinks & super kind to us! We had fun & learned a bit about Whiskey in the process.
In town for 3 nights. Bootlegger was a choice for night #3 as we were on the hunt for an establishment with live music, some cocktails & food after shopping both Down town & more curated vintage shops on Saint Laurent. My expectations of Bootlegger after reading some reviews online & reading their bio was that I was going to have some great cocktails, Oysters & some snack type food. Everything on that realm was great, Service was great. The only short fall from our opinion for what's it worth. Is the interior finishings was budget, I was anticipating a much more lavish swanky interior with more premium finishings & materials used. Not the 5/8's stained plywood found on a house under construction on most carpentry & fence deck board partition wall. The finishings seem to be consistent through out. If you are planning to empress with some swank while on a date or business function I would consider somewhere else. Booze selection was expanse + fantastic & cocktail presentation was decent but, you can find a better elevated product at other establishments. Montreal brings tough competition in the culinary world of things with lots of options.
Je suis aller au bootlegger avec mon conjoint samedi soir & j'ai adoré mon expérience! le service était impeccable, les serveurs était très sympathique & que dire de la nourriture. C'était délicieux 😋 Ça en vaut clairement le détour!
Premiere fois au Bootlegger, petite anicroche au niveau de l'acceuil, nous avions reservé pour 17h, & quand nous sommes arrivés, l'endroit n'était pas exactement prêt pour nous accueillir. Nous avons attendu un bon 10 minutes dans le petit lobby avant le meuble d'accueil sans trop être pris en charge, personne n'est venu nous voir pour simplement signifier que ca ne serait pas long. Nous avons finalement été placés vers 17h10, les premiers drinks ont mis beaucoup de temps a arriver étant donné qu'on voyait les employés toujours en préparation d'ouverture. Pour le service, bien rattrapé par Victor, & les huîtres sont franchement impressionantes pour des huîtres happy hour a 1$
I mean, j'ai vu d'autres bar a cocktail similaire 🤔 Still great, dont get me wrong, mais j'espère que t'as du cash à mettre en titi dans ton alcoolisme pour boire là-bas lol
5* mais perso je pense pas y retourner sauf si je gagne a la loterie lol

I visited Bootlegger tonight & overall had a great time with the food, drinks, & especially the service.
The Bootlegger burger was absolutely amazing-juicy, flavorful, & something I'd definitely order again. The pulled pork burger stood out as well, tender & satisfying. The side salad with sun-dried tomatoes was a refreshing touch & paired nicely with the mains. On the other side, the wagyu burger was a bit disappointing; it came out quite dry & there was no option to have it cooked more rare since that's left to the chef. Also, some condiments would've made it better & flavourful.
For sides, the potato wedges were tasty but a little plain. They really could've used more sauce what came with them was barely a spoonful, not enough to go around.
On the drinks side, I really enjoyed the Donkey King. The banana-vanilla flavor profile worked for me, though I can see why some people (like my friends) would find it unusual for a cocktail. The Agent Orange was good-nothing particularly special, but solid.
The service was fantastic. Our servers were professional, attentive, & funny, which made the whole experience more enjoyable.
The only other drawback was the table setup. The tables themselves are really small, & the plates are fairly large, so we ended up shifting things around constantly to make everything fit. If we had been a group of four instead of three, I don't think it would've worked at all-I'd recommend smaller plates to help with space.
All in all, Bootlegger has some good burgers, creative cocktails, & top-notch service that make it worth a visit, but a few tweaks (especially to the wagyu burger, sauce portions, & tableware) would really take the experience up a notch.
Bootlegger was a very cool spot to grab cocktails! The cocktails are very unique, but they are able to make you something different if you don't see something that you like. I would strongly recommend making reservations as we didn't know we had to do that & got very lucky with being sat after about a 20 minute wait.
Super expérience au Bootlegger Bar ! Les cocktails sont excellents, la bouffe vraiment savoureuse, & le décor est magnifique. Service impeccable : un énorme merci à Vincent, notre barman, & à notre incroyable serveuse. Tout le staff est super accueillant ! La musique n'était pas trop forte, ce qui rend l'ambiance encore plus agréable. Franchement, un top endroit : 10/10 !

We did not love Bootlegger contrary to many of the other reviews. We came in on a mildly busy Friday night for a night cap, & two of the drinks we wanted were unavailable. The drinks we ended up with were just ok, we've definitely had much better craft cocktails elsewhere in the city. The music was good though & the service was also ok.
We were visiting Montreal for the first time & my wife discovered Bootleggers through her online prowess. Being a bourbon lover I was all in. This place does not disappoint! The selection is beyond amazing. Possibly one of the best I have ever experienced & the craft cocktails are outstanding to boot The staff could not have been more welcoming (Tony was a star - I explained what I liked in bourbon & scotch & he conjured up a custom flight that was spot on), the food was great (hard to beat $1CN oysters) in addition we ordered the cheese plate & the salmon tartare. The vibe is straight up awesome. Not too loud but quite lively. The host (I can't recall I his name but he is from France) was a really nice guy as well. We went back the next night for a quick round before continuing our exploration of Montreal. DO NOT SKIP BOOTLEGGERS IF YOU ARE A WHISKY LOVER OR A FAN OF THE SPEAKEASY VIBE'
Bootlegger Cocktail bar was highly recommended to my partner & I by our good friends who often visit Montreal. The decor is very cool, a total throwback to the prohibition era. The menu is vast, which can be intimidating but our server, Tyler, who was extremely attentive, friendly & knowledgeable, saved the day. Tyler made several excellent recommendations for tasty cocktails & we both loved our drinks. The food menu offers quite a variety. The East Coast oysters were delicious & the'piece de resistance' was the fabulous Vegge share platter. The tomato tapenade was mouthwateringly good! Bootlegger is a great destination for a great date night!
My boyfriend & I had the most incredible time visiting Bootlegger this past Sunday. We didn't have a reservation but the host was accommodating in finding a table for us. They had live jazz going on which set a truly lively & fun atmosphere. The decorations & lighting were truly tasteful. My boyfriend & I were both impressed by our drinks which were very thoughtfully made! A lot of places don't put much care into their non-alcoholic cocktails but I felt that Bootlegger was a real exception. & to top it off, our server Tyler was so accommodating & wonderful.
We'd highly recommend Bootlegger for an amazing time with amazing drinks! We didn't get to try much of the food this time, but given how much thought they've put into every aspect of this bar, I imagine that'd be spectacular as well.

We ended up at The Bootlegger as the bar we were going to had a 45 min waiting list. We arrived there, the design was really nice & intimate. However, it was abnormally hot considering it was only spring. The drinks were alright but I could live without the constant & perpetual up-selling of our server Tony. When I asked which whiskey cocktail he would recommend, he snobbed us & said'I don't come here for cocktails that have egg whites & all that stuff. I hate cocktails'. Considering this place is called Bootlegger Cocktails Bar & Cuisine, that comment is absolutely unacceptable & misplaced. Cocktails were decent, however I would much rather have waited the 45 minutes at Le Mal Nécessaire. Shout out to Tony who asked us to leave to leave a great review, well here it is.
My group of friends & I were visiting Montreal for a girls trip & happened to stumble upon Bootlegger! We cannot say enough good about this cocktail bar! We loved it so much we went two nights in a row, & tried a variety of cocktails & food! The atmosphere & staff were exceptional & we would choose to go back there any day! We sat at the bar both nights to watch the bartenders craft their drinks as the drink list seems endless, & each & every drink is carefully made. If you are in Montreal, this is an absolute must on your itinerary!!!!
Notre petite visite au Bootlegger était un véritable joyau! Le service est incroyable, des vrais mixologues sympathiques & qui veulent nous donner une expérience simplement géniale. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le service & le bonheur contagieux de Félix derrière le bar. D'ailleurs être assis au bar c'est une super expérience, on a une vue sur le jazz band (si vous y allez le dimanche soir) & sur les étagères remplies à ras bord de whiskey. C'est impressionnant, pour peu dire.
La promotion des huîtres le dimanche etait en premier lieu ce pourquoi nous étions venus, & nous avons pas été déçus! La sauce piquante maison est vraiment délicieuse. Je recommande fortement pour une soirée entre amis, en date ou même pour un petit plaisir personnel en solo, surtout quand le band de jazz est présent:)
Quelle expérience on a vécu hier chez Bootlegger. C'était notre sortie d'occasion de notre 7 anniversaire avec mon fiancé.
À la réception, ils nous ont demandé pour accrocher nos manteaux. Pendant la sélection des boissons notre serveur, Tylor, nous a expliqué & conseillé les meilleurs choix pour la dégustation de whisky. Les assiettes d'accompagnement (charcuterie & les huîtres de l'île du Prince Édouard ) ont été délicieuses.
Merci beaucoup pour votre attention & le service reçu pour cette soirée très spéciale pour nous.
