Review Summary

Bernice is described as a standout bakery with indulgent pastries, from fluffy brioche and cinnamon rolls to thick cookies and beautifully decorated cakes, and the coffee program is frequently praised. Many reviews highlight the blueberry coffee cake as soft and well balanced and the cookies as thick and rich, with the chocolate chip with pecans singled out as a balanced favorite, while some find certain items too sweet and others note the price can be high. Occasional notes of inconsistency and price concerns recur, including a few delivery mixups or cake substitutions that disappointed some customers. Cakes for birthdays and weddings are celebrated as impressive and delicious, and service is often described as friendly, attentive, and helpful, with staff going above and beyond on occasions. Overall the vibe is clean and chic, the atmosphere is cozy, and guests repeatedly say they will return to try more items, though many suggest getting there early to grab popular treats.

Very expensive ( 18 cad for a slice of cake ). Anyway The white chocolate cookies are amazing, the cake not so much. Brownies ( 10$ for a square) are okay as well as cinnamon rolls but overall just extremely pricey

Bernice is a really solid bakery with some standout items.

Their brioche is basically a cinnamon-roll cousin - super moist, fluffy, & indulgent. It does lean on the sweeter side, but if you like rich pastries, it hits the spot.

The blueberry coffee cake is an absolute 10/10 - soft, crumbly, perfectly balanced, & honestly one of the best things I've had there. My only complaint is that it's not available nearly as often as I wish it were. The cinnamon coffee cake is also delicious, though it can be a bit dense at times compared to the blueberry.

The cookies are very much Levain-style: thick, crispy on the outside, super moist inside. I tried a variety - double chocolate, chocolate chip, cranberry white chocolate, funfetti - but most were very sweet, to the point where I couldn't finish them. The standout for me was the chocolate chip with pecans; the nuts cut the sweetness perfectly & made it much more balanced.

My only real downside: the price. Around $40 for six cookies feels steep, even for high-quality baking.

That said, Bernice clearly knows what they're doing. If you're into rich, indulgent baked goods & don't mind a sweeter profile, it's worth a visit - especially if you can get your hands on that blueberry coffee cake.

An involved & creative owner offering unique & delicious brioche roll creations. A must try for anyone who's a fan of cinnamon rolls. The true star for me was the chocolate brioche roll & I'll definitely be coming back to try what's new.

Insane how delicious everything was! We got greedy & ordered more than what we could eat, & we don't regret it one bit. The cookies were heavenly & generous in size & there were large chunks of chocolate chips. The coffee cake was simultaneously dense & moist, a rare yet perfect combination. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, that dirty matcha really hit the spot by cutting the sweetness with its bitter-y matcha flavored warmth, coating the bites of cookies & cake. I was thirsty on my way out so grabbed an iced tea to go, & it was the best iced tea I ever had: sweet & slightly sour. Yum! Definitely coming back to try other things! ;)

Was welcomed by friendly staff. Yummy chocolate chip cookies are just one of the many delicious looking treats in the display case. Blossom Dearie playing in the background & a sunny window to sit near by. Great latté too!
