WELCOME TO AUX VIVRES, MONTREAL'S FIRST VEGAN RESTAURANT.
At Aux Vivres, we serve fresh, innovative and delicious vegan food using nothing but the highest quality ingredients. We have made it our mission to debunk any myths people may hold about vegan food by preparing meals that are flavourful and inspired, all the while being healthy and satisfying.
Aux Vivres is widely praised as an enduring vegan staple in Montreal, offering a broad menu with generous portions, colorful bowls, burgers, wraps and brunch options that showcase fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Reviewers repeatedly note friendly, attentive service and a cozy, welcoming vibe, with many appreciating the variety for plant-based eaters and even non-vegans. The quality and creativity of dishes are highlighted, and the restaurant is described as reliable over the years, with standout bowls and sandwiches. Some comments mention higher prices for a specialty vegan spot and occasional delays during busy times, while one review reports a negative experience with a Dragon Bowl that caused illness. Overall, the place is seen as a dependable go-to for comforting, healthy vegan meals, a long-standing Montreal institution, with a lively yet relaxed environment that supports dine-in or takeaway.
so disgusting. literally inedible. had to throw it all away. what's with all the high reviews? some of the worst food i've ever tasted.
the mekong sandwich was so sweet it was like a dessert. it tasted crazy gross.
i could not eat the buffalo wings either. the sauce wasn't like buffalo sauce but rather a funky cheese yeast sauce. but the worst part was the wing itself. mushy texture & disgusting flavour.
the dragon bowl was a tiny salad & a small block of unseasoned tofu. the sauce, again, was a terrible thick yeast dressing, way too sweet & way too salty.
the berry un-cheesecake has a very high water content for the crust the filling & the compote. like severely incompetent preparation on all fronts. usually with a bad dessert you can find something to salvage.
i enjoy vegan food & this was terrible. made me feel sick.
Food is really good! One of my favorite vegan restaurants, but the prices are just ridiculous. 3$ for an extra potato wedge containing 5 wedge…. 60$ for 2 sandwiches a cookie & an extra potato wedge too expensive for what it is.
Love their food filling, yummy, & healthy with nice portions. The staff is welcoming & friendly. Overall, a great experience! If you're in Montreal & want to try vegan or vegetarian food, this is a great place to go.

Tried Aux Vivres Plateau in Montreal & overall it was a solid vegan dining experience.
The food presentation was clean & appealing. The burger (Okonomiyaki-style) had a nice texture & flavor balance, & the potato wedges were well-seasoned & crispy on the outside. The chipotle mayo added a good kick & tied the plate together nicely.
The taquitos were decent-crispy & served with a creamy dipping sauce-but they felt a bit standard compared to the burger, which stood out more.
Portion sizes were fair, & the menu offers good variety for plant-based options. Pricing is on the slightly higher side (~$55 for the meal), but expected for a specialty vegan spot in Montreal.
Service was smooth, & the overall vibe felt casual & welcoming.
Honestly, the BLT was one of the worst vegan dishes I have ever had at a vegan restaurant. I have been a vegan for 15+ years, & this dish tasted wrong. I do not think enough thought was put into the flavor profile. I also think relying on tempeh as a protein source for most dishes is a mistake. The drinks were good though & the environment & staff were great.
Lovely vegan restaurant with great, healthy options. The portion sizes were really good, & the food was delicious. I got the Mumbai bowl, which was perfectly seasoned.

The original vegan restaurant in Montreal, Aux Vivres is great restaurant along the atmospheric Saint Laurent Blvd. They have a fair sized indoor seating area. You can do take-away orders as well. Opening hours are 11am to 10pm daily.
We ate here during a recent visit to Montreal while exploring the Mile End & Little Portugal areas of the city. The Deluxe & Mumbai bowls ordered on the day were great. Both were generous portions, presentable. Ingredient combinations sensible, dishes executed very well in the kitchen & importantly tasted delicious. Really enjoyed everything about our meal at Aux Vivres & would gladly eat here again in the future.
Je suis retourné cette semaine pour le superbe Brunch offert maintenant tous les jours de la semaine. Ça vaut le détour!
Great place for a vegan meal.
Chaque fois qu'on revient, on est heureux de retrouver une bouffe végane réconfort: savoureuse, portion copieuse & visuellement plaisante.
A classic! Aux Vivres is the original vegan restaurant in Montréal. Great patio, lots of indoor seating. The wraps on homemade roti are huge! (& delicious)
