WELCOME TO AUX VIVRES, MONTREAL'S FIRST VEGAN RESTAURANT.
At Aux Vivres, we serve fresh, innovative and delicious vegan food using nothing but the highest quality ingredients. We have made it our mission to debunk any myths people may hold about vegan food by preparing meals that are flavourful and inspired, all the while being healthy and satisfying.
Aux Vivres receives wide praise for flavorful, fresh vegan dishes, generous portions and a warm, cozy atmosphere. Dishes like the Mumbai bowl, Thai bowl, Dragon bowl, BLT and dahl soup are repeatedly cited as satisfying, with thoughtful ingredient combinations and plenty of vegetables. The menu is described as healthy and comforting, with many reviewers noting gluten free options and allergy awareness. The staff is often described as friendly and attentive, with praise for service and ambiance, though a few comments point to slower service during busy periods. Occasionally criticisms appear about price value, portions that feel very large for some, changes to the menu removing favorites like Tom Yum soup and Malai Kofta, and in one case a report of food poisoning after the Dragon bowl. The venue is described as a Montreal institution and a go to for both vegans and non vegans, with brunch, smoothies and a shop for take away. Overall, the reviews suggest Aux Vivres is a cornerstone of vegan dining in Montreal, with frequent recommendations to try the BLT and the variety of bowls, and a note to plan for potential crowds.
Tried Aux Vivres Plateau in Montreal & overall it was a solid vegan dining experience.
The food presentation was clean & appealing. The burger (Okonomiyaki-style) had a nice texture & flavor balance, & the potato wedges were well-seasoned & crispy on the outside. The chipotle mayo added a good kick & tied the plate together nicely.
The taquitos were decent-crispy & served with a creamy dipping sauce-but they felt a bit standard compared to the burger, which stood out more.
Portion sizes were fair, & the menu offers good variety for plant-based options. Pricing is on the slightly higher side (~$55 for the meal), but expected for a specialty vegan spot in Montreal.
Service was smooth, & the overall vibe felt casual & welcoming.
Lovely vegan restaurant with great, healthy options. The portion sizes were really good, & the food was delicious. I got the Mumbai bowl, which was perfectly seasoned.

The bowls are very delicious. Both the Thai bowl & Japanese inspired ones were great. I love the tempeh & tofu, but neither are super flavourful.
The bowls are huge & packed with so many different veggies. They feel very nourishing lol. The bowls are a great gluten free option.
It's not very fast. We waited over 20 minutes to order & another 20 for food.
I also wish the BLT had some form of protein instead of coconut to replace the bacon.
Unfortunately overrated & overpriced. As the first vegan spot in MTL, they did not set the bar high. I took the asian bowl which tasted mid & mainly consisted of lettuce & a bunch of veggies that you could easily do at home yourself. Drinks were okay. You could find way better vegan/veggie options in the South Shore. 5/10
One of the original vegan spots in Montreal. Great dishes they've made classics. Highly recommend the BLT & Dragon bowl. I do miss the old days when it was a little more low key & cheaper relative to other options, but still definitely worth a visit. I've gone with omnivores who've loved it as well.
You made my day!! Une visite à votre resto se fait obligatoire. Merci!!!!
As an omnivore , I appreciate having really great vegan options sometimes. I've had take out & eaten in the restaurant. Eating in house has really deteriorated & the service was friendly enough but super slow. This was always my healthy takeout option but not feeling inspired after the last visit which left me with a horrible stomach ache (please note other recent reviews of people noting stomach issues). It's not really nice to be picking out brown lettuce from food. Hoping it was just a fluke but after getting stomach aches my past 2 times eating here, it feels like more of a pattern.
Overall tasteful. I love the meals that I tasted so far & I particularly enjoyed their BLT (even if a bit sweeter than standard vegan blt) yet delicious! however, you must be very careful regarding the quality of the ingredients that they cook with which is sadly mostly unhealthy (a lot of processed ingredients, canola oil, high refined sugar, etc.) Many options get very low/ alarming rating on health scan apps.
Service was outstanding & they did a great job. I've experienced more creative & interesting vegan food options & it's sad that some vegan cooks seem to default to burgers & sandwiches. We should have chosen one of the bowls as this might have been the more interesting option! However, food quality was good, just lacked creativity.

Visited recently for dinner. Great vegan options! We had the Dragon bowl with tofu & another with a cauliflower patty & both were super yummy & filling. The potato wedges are awesome. Quick service, great vibe & good food.
Great vegan brunch! We had the wrap, the full breakfast & pancakes. All well done, pancakes were very well done. So happy to have these options in Montreal!
Good options overall for vegetarians, vegans, but probably not as great for raw foodists unless you order two salads & a smoothie to get a full meal.
I do wish they had more uncooked main dishes (meaning outside salads), more coconut & soy-free smoothies, & less soy/tofu dishes. Overall, it was good & the service was decent. Nothing amazing, but I appreciate the quality of food they offer & its contribution to healthier options in restaurants.
