WELCOME TO AUX VIVRES, MONTREAL'S FIRST VEGAN RESTAURANT.
At Aux Vivres, we serve fresh, innovative and delicious vegan food using nothing but the highest quality ingredients. We have made it our mission to debunk any myths people may hold about vegan food by preparing meals that are flavourful and inspired, all the while being healthy and satisfying.
Aux Vivres receives wide praise for flavorful, fresh vegan dishes, generous portions and a warm, cozy atmosphere. Dishes like the Mumbai bowl, Thai bowl, Dragon bowl, BLT and dahl soup are repeatedly cited as satisfying, with thoughtful ingredient combinations and plenty of vegetables. The menu is described as healthy and comforting, with many reviewers noting gluten free options and allergy awareness. The staff is often described as friendly and attentive, with praise for service and ambiance, though a few comments point to slower service during busy periods. Occasionally criticisms appear about price value, portions that feel very large for some, changes to the menu removing favorites like Tom Yum soup and Malai Kofta, and in one case a report of food poisoning after the Dragon bowl. The venue is described as a Montreal institution and a go to for both vegans and non vegans, with brunch, smoothies and a shop for take away. Overall, the reviews suggest Aux Vivres is a cornerstone of vegan dining in Montreal, with frequent recommendations to try the BLT and the variety of bowls, and a note to plan for potential crowds.
Honestly, the BLT was one of the worst vegan dishes I have ever had at a vegan restaurant. I have been a vegan for 15+ years, & this dish tasted wrong. I do not think enough thought was put into the flavor profile. I also think relying on tempeh as a protein source for most dishes is a mistake. The drinks were good though & the environment & staff were great.
The original vegan restaurant in Montreal, Aux Vivres is great restaurant along the atmospheric Saint Laurent Blvd. They have a fair sized indoor seating area. You can do take-away orders as well. Opening hours are 11am to 10pm daily.
We ate here during a recent visit to Montreal while exploring the Mile End & Little Portugal areas of the city. The Deluxe & Mumbai bowls ordered on the day were great. Both were generous portions, presentable. Ingredient combinations sensible, dishes executed very well in the kitchen & importantly tasted delicious. Really enjoyed everything about our meal at Aux Vivres & would gladly eat here again in the future.

My girlfriend & I are always looking for the best places to eat vegan food & this place did not disappoint!
All three dishes were delicious & the portion sizes were HUGE!
Lacked a bit of flavour but overall I had a great meal.
Also shout out to our amazing server.
One of the original vegan spots in Montreal. Great dishes they've made classics. Highly recommend the BLT & Dragon bowl. I do miss the old days when it was a little more low key & cheaper relative to other options, but still definitely worth a visit. I've gone with omnivores who've loved it as well.
An amazing vegan restaurant. Not only the flavor but the presentation of the dishes are great. I tried a burger & a smoothie - I recommend them both! They tasted so fresh, flavorful & they came in copious portions. (Adding avocado to the burger would be just perfect.) This is definitely the place to go & discover that vegan & vegetarian food is delicious.
For someone who isn't able to eat spicy poly Indian food, I really love this place! So flavourful! The staff here were all so great & even helped us figure out where to go sightseeing. Kelly was our server & she went above & beyond to help our mostly non vegan group try several dishes. She was lovely!

Excellent vegan restaurant: great tasting & fresh food. Kids friendly. A good choice of various creative vegan dishes, not just salads, great selection of vegan desserts & drinks. Very attentive service, good location. Will definitely come back again.
This is one of the gems you need to visit if you are looking for a vegan restaurant in town! Even if you are not vegan, you will love it! The menu offers a variety of dishes that range from healthy to very comfy foods! The service was great & the ambiance perfect for a meeting with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. The food is phenomenal & full of flavour! We ordered the dragon bowl, tempeh burger & the breakfast burrito! All of us enjoyed our meals very much!
The staff is the hug plus of the place. She was super nice & very pleasant. We ordered Deulux bowl which was fine but not the best I have tried. The berry uncheese cake though was wonderful!
Overall though I find it a very nice vegan restaurant & I will go again to try their other dishes!

Online reservation system easy to use! We arrived a bit early, but staff were fine with that...all staff were excellent. We were 5, & had a variety of dishes...all meals were generous & delicious. One complaint: soup was not hot enough. We will be
Waited a good 45 minutes to be seated (granted it was Friday evening), while 1 couple after another were seated during this time before our party of 5. The servers did not combine tables together until we had pointed that possibility out. Who knows how long we would have waited had we kept our silence.
The food tastes ok (the hot dishes). Nothing special if you're familiar with arabic/asian vegetarian dishes.
Good options overall for vegetarians, vegans, but probably not as great for raw foodists unless you order two salads & a smoothie to get a full meal.
I do wish they had more uncooked main dishes (meaning outside salads), more coconut & soy-free smoothies, & less soy/tofu dishes. Overall, it was good & the service was decent. Nothing amazing, but I appreciate the quality of food they offer & its contribution to healthier options in restaurants.
