About

Aux Vivres establishes a definitive standard for plant-based nutrition by transforming simple vegetables and legumes into substantial, flavor-forward meals. The menu prioritizes whole-food ingredients, featuring signature rice bowls topped with house-made dressings and seasoned proteins that emphasize nutritional density over processed alternatives. Beyond the classic grain-based bowls, the kitchen produces a diverse selection of tempeh, seitan, and coconut-based desserts that cater to a strictly vegan philosophy. Every preparation focuses on balancing macro-nutrients through the use of fresh produce, sprouted grains, and nutrient-rich seeds. The environment remains intentionally functional, highlighting the raw quality of the ingredients rather than decorative flourishes. This establishment serves as a primary hub for those seeking exclusively plant-derived sustenance that avoids refined sugars and artificial additives, maintaining a commitment to clean, high-performance cooking techniques for everyday nourishment.

Review Summary

Aux Vivres is widely recognized as a staple in Montreal for flavorful, healthy, and generous vegan meals that appeal to both plant-based diners and meat eaters alike. Many visitors praise the diverse menu, highlighting popular items like the bowls, the mango lassi, and the BLT, while noting that the portions are consistently large and satisfying. The restaurant is frequently commended for its warm, cozy atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff who contribute to a welcoming dining experience. While the majority of reviews are highly positive, some diners mention inconsistency regarding the seasoning of certain dishes, concerns about pricing, or occasional lapses in service speed and communication. Overall, it remains a beloved institution for those seeking high-quality, plant-based cuisine in a comfortable setting.

The Buddha Bowl was well-cooked, but unfortunately quite bland unless you drown it in the sauce. At least it's a huge portion so you can take home the leftovers. Thankfully, the Choco-Banana Pie saved the day-incredibly delicious!!

Our server, Tania, was so lovely & smiley. The portions were huge & we ended up taking some to go, so it's amazing value. The Caesar wrap & the Gyros were both fantastic - great mix of textures & super flavorful sauces. The cornbread was not bad but a little strange to have it with guacamole 😂 The choc PB cheesecake had a gorgeous texture & was packed with rich peanut flavour.

so disgusting. literally inedible. had to throw it all away. what's with all the high reviews? some of the worst food i've ever tasted.

the mekong sandwich was so sweet it was like a dessert. it tasted crazy gross.

i could not eat the buffalo wings either. the sauce wasn't like buffalo sauce but rather a funky cheese yeast sauce. but the worst part was the wing itself. mushy texture & disgusting flavour.

the dragon bowl was a tiny salad & a small block of unseasoned tofu. the sauce, again, was a terrible thick yeast dressing, way too sweet & way too salty.

the berry un-cheesecake has a very high water content for the crust the filling & the compote. like severely incompetent preparation on all fronts. usually with a bad dessert you can find something to salvage.

i enjoy vegan food & this was terrible. made me feel sick.

sham restaurant.

Mauvais service !!

Tried Aux Vivres Plateau in Montreal & overall it was a solid vegan dining experience.

The food presentation was clean & appealing. The burger (Okonomiyaki-style) had a nice texture & flavor balance, & the potato wedges were well-seasoned & crispy on the outside. The chipotle mayo added a good kick & tied the plate together nicely.

The taquitos were decent-crispy & served with a creamy dipping sauce-but they felt a bit standard compared to the burger, which stood out more.

Portion sizes were fair, & the menu offers good variety for plant-based options. Pricing is on the slightly higher side (~$55 for the meal), but expected for a specialty vegan spot in Montreal.

Service was smooth, & the overall vibe felt casual & welcoming.

Good vegan bowls! IMO very limited tofu / tempeh. Not enough sauce. Very slow service.

The BLT notably was also really weird, with the bacon made out of coconut.

The waitress was nice, the decor sober, the atmosphere calm & ideal for an intimate dinner... But my deluxe bowl was disappointing. It was mainly fresh salad. The quality was there, but the sauce was not enough to spark up the whole composition. The faux-saumon was just bland grated carrots, the tofu was equally tasteless, the guacamole got lost in the great amont of greens. My faux cheesecake was decent however. Overall too expensive for what it was.
