WELCOME TO AUX VIVRES, MONTREAL'S FIRST VEGAN RESTAURANT.
At Aux Vivres, we serve fresh, innovative and delicious vegan food using nothing but the highest quality ingredients. We have made it our mission to debunk any myths people may hold about vegan food by preparing meals that are flavourful and inspired, all the while being healthy and satisfying.
Aux Vivres receives wide praise for flavorful, fresh vegan dishes, generous portions and a warm, cozy atmosphere. Dishes like the Mumbai bowl, Thai bowl, Dragon bowl, BLT and dahl soup are repeatedly cited as satisfying, with thoughtful ingredient combinations and plenty of vegetables. The menu is described as healthy and comforting, with many reviewers noting gluten free options and allergy awareness. The staff is often described as friendly and attentive, with praise for service and ambiance, though a few comments point to slower service during busy periods. Occasionally criticisms appear about price value, portions that feel very large for some, changes to the menu removing favorites like Tom Yum soup and Malai Kofta, and in one case a report of food poisoning after the Dragon bowl. The venue is described as a Montreal institution and a go to for both vegans and non vegans, with brunch, smoothies and a shop for take away. Overall, the reviews suggest Aux Vivres is a cornerstone of vegan dining in Montreal, with frequent recommendations to try the BLT and the variety of bowls, and a note to plan for potential crowds.
Mauvais service !!
Tried Aux Vivres Plateau in Montreal & overall it was a solid vegan dining experience.
The food presentation was clean & appealing. The burger (Okonomiyaki-style) had a nice texture & flavor balance, & the potato wedges were well-seasoned & crispy on the outside. The chipotle mayo added a good kick & tied the plate together nicely.
The taquitos were decent-crispy & served with a creamy dipping sauce-but they felt a bit standard compared to the burger, which stood out more.
Portion sizes were fair, & the menu offers good variety for plant-based options. Pricing is on the slightly higher side (~$55 for the meal), but expected for a specialty vegan spot in Montreal.
Service was smooth, & the overall vibe felt casual & welcoming.

The waitress was nice, the decor sober, the atmosphere calm & ideal for an intimate dinner... But my deluxe bowl was disappointing. It was mainly fresh salad. The quality was there, but the sauce was not enough to spark up the whole composition. The faux-saumon was just bland grated carrots, the tofu was equally tasteless, the guacamole got lost in the great amont of greens. My faux cheesecake was decent however. Overall too expensive for what it was.

My favorite restaurant in Montreal. I've been going for years, & will continue going for years to come. When I run out of dragon sauce at home, it's a total panic!! After the re-up, peace returns..

My family & I have enjoyed Aux Vivres for more than a decade now, it is the first vegan restaurant I had ever tried as a child, & it's still the only one that I would highly recommend to anyone, without hesitation. As someone that comes from a carnivorous family, vegan food was (& still is) not our first choice for dining, but my whole family wholeheartedly enjoys Aux Vivres. The food is delicious, the portions are huge & you will leave satisfied, without even remembering that everything you ate was vegan. Their food has also stayed constantly excellent, & if anything they are improving with time (if you're a foodie then you can understand how rare a feat that is). So, if you visit, know that you won't regret it! Also, make sure to try their dragon sauce, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those who enjoy sauces with their food, their dragon sauce is so good I could practically drink it!
The bowl portions were so big I really couldn't get to the rice underneath & there was no room in the bowl to mix it all up. I would rather have less food, less lettuce & more room to mix in the sauce. It was disappointing.
Plesantly surprised! We tried a variety of things. I have the Latke Burger. It was okay, not the best, everything was falling out & slightly bland. My boyfriend had the Dragon sandwich/wrap which was amazing & HUGE! We were worried it would be small & not filling but wow... He eats alot & half was already enough. All the sauces were amazing & tasty you wouldn't even know they're vegan. I loved the tempeh, especially since I hate tofu.
Not enough sauce for the salads, not enough smoothie choices, you should have half sandwich because if people don't doggie bag it it's wasted but hey you guys are awesome!
