Automne Boulangerie is a small, intimate bakery with a cozy neighborhood feel-often mentioned as having some of the best croissants in Montreal. We visited on a Sunday around 3 p.m., & unfortunately, the croissants & tarts were already sold out. The only items left were a few cookies & a chocolatine (pain au chocolat), so I ordered the chocolatine for $3.75 CAD.
The bakery itself is very compact. Inside, there aren't tables for sitting, just a small counter to stand at, but there are a few outdoor tables right by the door. The staff were friendly & helpful in explaining the items available. They also mentioned that weekends usually bring more variety, including fruit tarts, while weekdays focus mainly on croissants.
The chocolatine I tried was good-crispy on the outside, soft & tender inside, exactly what you'd expect from a quality bakery. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had, but it was still enjoyable.
If you're in the neighborhood, Automne Boulangerie is worth a visit, especially earlier in the day or on a weekend to get the full range of their croissants & tarts.
Pain aux noix avec une bonne élasticité tout en ayant une croûte croquante couvertes de graines de pavot. Accompagné d'un café americano. Un délice! On peut s'asseoir à un coin de rue place Boyer. La boulangerie privilégie le paiement comptant ou par carte débit.
The croissant was very good despite it not being the freshest. The latte was also very good but a bit too sweet for my liking.

Parmi les tout derniers vrais boulangers artisanaux à offrir du pain 100% intégral au levain. (La plupart des boulangers ne s'en donnent plus la peine.) & il est excellent.
I have tried a handful of treats & this bakery never disappoints. Always fresh & well crafted. Best chocolatine in Montreal!
The only downside is that most baked goods are sold out fast.
The absolute best croissant, pain au chocolat, etc... always a delight & I've been here too many times to count. Please please please bring back the chocolate roll & the champi-pan eventually
Good & drinks very nice. Staff were friendly expect one lady in white bandana incredibly rude. She made the wrong amount of drinks & then was rude to us when we pointed it out. Very bad manners
This delightful little café was hailed as one of the best croissants in Montreal across multiple travel & food sites, including Reddit, everyone's favorite source of information. I was in the area, so I just had to stop by & give it a shot. Unfortunately, while the chocolate croissant was tasty, I found myself feeling a bit underwhelmed - the dough felt quite dry & almost stale, & the chocolate was hard & dry as well. The cross-section looked beautiful, with many, many layers of lamination & a beautifully crispy, golden-brown crust, but the taste & texture didn't quite measure up to the appearance. I wonder if they just happened to give me a slightly overbaked croissant, so I'll have to come back & give it another try. Beyond the pastries, the staff was super friendly & the shop was spacious, cute, & flooded with natural light. It seems like a delightful place to settle in for a few hours, so I'm sure I'll make another visit soon!
Je suis Francais, j'ai passer un an à Montréal en 2019, je suis un grand amateur de pains au chocolats & c'est ici que j'ai manger les meilleurs pains au chocolats de ma vie, je n'ai jamais retrouvé quelque chose de similaire en France meme dans des lieu réputés, bref je reve encore de remanger ces pain au chocolat de Montréal !
Voici donc la boulangerie qui fait la 2e meilleure baguette à Montréal (2025). Suis allé sur la succursale rue Beaubien. Longue file d'attente mais ça va vite.
Je prends aussi quelques patisseries & un pain batard. &...la fameuse baguette.
Service sympa & courtois.
Je la ramène à la maison (la baguette). Je m'empresse de prendre le trognon (rituel oblige). Je m'attendais à une explosion. Neni. Je la trouve bien ordinaire. La croûte pas assez craquante & la mie dense , aérée mais pas de goût dominant.
Le lendemain, en toasts, elle est correct.
Les pâtisseries très bonnes, dont celle avec purée de bananes.

Ça fait deux fois en peu de temps que je présente chez automne & je suis très satisfait! Le personnel est gentil & accueillant! J'ai beaucoup aimé ma pâtisserie & le café qu'ils utilisent est honnêtement à tomber par terre!
L'ambiance & aimable & très invitante! Je vous recommande fortement de l'essayé si vous êtes à Montréal!

La baguette est bonne. Les croissants sont décevants, ils ne croustillent pas.
Moi Automne, je vous mets deux étoiles parce que je trouve ça bien dommage qu'une fois sur deux à 16h, on m'annonce que tout a été vendu alors que vous fermez à 18h30. On comprend le souci d'éviter le gaspillage, mais à un moment donné faut aussi savoir gérer les attentes de ses clients.
