Our last dish was forgetten so the wait was long (three & a half hours total for one appetizer, one poutine, one main & one dessert). Had to ask where it was. Received a complementary glass of cider for the wait. Overall, good experience, would return.
took almost 2 hours to get our starter dish. by the time we did, they had also brought out the mains, & they were cold. they took them back & re-made them, but by that time almost 2.5 hrs had passed. it was not busy & everyone around us got their food without issue. it seems like the staff were very new & repeatedly forgot about us. :(
A must eat place! Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, Nicklaus was the best server! My group is still talking about how this was our favorite meal. My husband loves foie gras & this place knows how to prepare it to perfection! If we are ever back in Montréal, this will be our first reservation
Restaurant hors du commun nourriture excellente vaut le déplacement
Wonderful food & drink & courteous service as always. The kitchen seemed very backed up on this visit, so there were lengthy waits between courses - not the usual flow that we experienced during our first two visits. Still, a lovely evening overall, & we will return during our visit to Montréal.
Overall, Au Pied de Cauchon is my favorite restaurant on the planet. Consistently outstanding food, exceptional service, & perfect atmosphere for casual diners who love world-class delicacies!
We were visiting the restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere of the place was very lively therefore you can talk loudly with your friends without pressure. The Goat Cheese Salad & Burrata were extremely good. The Plogue A Champlain & fois Gras Mushroom were excellent.
However we were very disappointed with the Aged Pork Chop & Duck in a Can dishes since the Pork Chop & Duck meat were very stiff!
Fortunately, the staffs were very friendly which help making the night very enjoyable.
Meal & service were exceptional. Wife's bday dinner was memorable. Seafood tower special was memorable.
I've been waiting to eat here for years each of my visits to Montréal have been during time where the restaurant was either closed or I wasn't able to get there, however, THIS time I was successful & was I justified in my decade long attempt to eat here
Watching the staff work was a flashback when food was serious the orchestration of sous, saucier to head was refreshing & the constant attentiveness of the supporting staff made me remember how important the act of preparing & presenting a meal can be
Yet, all without pretentiousness & a comforting embrace that allowed me to relax & enjoy the show
Then the food arrived & what was done with traditional ingredients combined in imaginative ways made me remember why I love this stuff, my various incarnations of fois gras gave me shivers of pleasure I haven't known since my last trip to Paris
I highly suggest if you want a transcendent experience with the richer flavors of the world you will want to get a seat in this restaurant, allow yourself the pleasure of indulging a little & return to your world haunted by the memory
This was our best meal in Montreal! Everything was delicious. The tomato tart appetizer was incredible. Our mains were the pasta, pork, & halibut. We shared them amongst our family. It was the perfect amount for my husband our & three kids. The drinks were wonderful as was the wine. I only wish we lived closer, I'd be here quite often!
This was my first time visiting your restaurant after wanting to come for 10 years. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but after asking our waiter on his recommendations we ordered a selection of entrees & some fois gras. The somollier then came to help us choose the most perfect wine for both our tastes & our dishes. Everything was just perfect, & a taste sensation. We rounded the meal off with a gorgeous dessert, & even went back for another round of oysters! All the staff were so friendly & helpful, & truly makes your experience even greater. The attention to detail was fabulous. We will not hesitate to come back again on our next visit to Montreal & sample even more of the dishes you have to offer. A fantastic all round experience & meal.
Always a wonderful event eating at this world class restaurant.
My guest that flew in from Hong Kong said it was like being in a cabaret.
At the bar we had a front seat surrounded by ingaging staff for 3 hours.
The food*** the wine ****
