A great restaurant all around. The foie gras pancakes & poutine are a must. Main courses were a little disappointing, though.View more
What an incredible dining experience! The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, the service was great, & the food... just wow. The foie gras poutine & duck in a can were rich, decadent, & absolutely unforgettable! Definite must-tries. I'll definitely be coming back!View more
OH MY WORD!! My first night visiting Montreal & I was able to snag a spot at the bar. The bartender made me a nice off menu mocktail & I had some really good locally sourced sparkling water. I ordered the duck tartare & the foie gras poutine - which is a must move for first timers! The duck tartare was served sushi style with crispy potato bits & wrapped in seaweed. Best to eat with your hands. Delicious! The main delight for me was the foie gras poutine. It was like nothing I've ever experienced before. There are two different sauces that go so well together & the cheese curds are cut slightly longer on the bottom. The fries were perfectly crisp & the foie gras had a lovely char to it. Everything works so perfectly together & I was beyond joyed for my specific life choices that brought me to this heavenly dish. Thank you so much, Au Pied de Cochon!! I'm gonna see if I can make a reservation to come back this week ☺?View more
Hello, with all the respect to the staff & hard working people involved in this restaurant.
I write this because a reputation like the one PDC has, the restaurant must've seen better days.
-The flavor of the oyster with quail eggs isn't memorable, cold oysters with mignonette is more enjoyable. Maybe temperature, seasoning, not special overall i don't know, it did not hit
- The poutine sauce is comparable to a regular gravy… it isn't recognizable by a distinct foie gras flavor, there is an opportunity there to make us eat FOIE GRAS POUTINE FROM PDC. Cooked foie gras was delicious
- temaki, It isn't exceptional, i could have a similar satisfaction from a mid sushi restaurant
- flétan, potatoes were almost the best part
- foie gras torchon, amazing with the sauce, amazing classic
- duck in a can, tough breast, maybe should be leg instead? I dont know
That, & i havent yet said that not a single dish came piping hot the way it should to make us customers feel good.
There must be revision of technique & maybe the menu items & portion sizes, presentation, to honor the glutinous & honorable quebecois cuisine influenced by the og chef. If the restaurant wants to party, make the crazy food make us want to partyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😛😛😛😛
MORE PASSION CHEFS MORE LOVE & CRAZINESS IN THE FOOD 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOView more
This was my second visit & it was as wonderful as my first.
The sweetbreads were fantastic, the foie gras nigiri was incredibly unique, & I will be dreaming about the foie gras poutine until I come back next year!View more
This restaurant serves the best Poutine I've ever had. The restaurant is located in a really cool part of town & seems kind of like a hipster neighborhood. The staff & servers were as good or better than you'll find anywhere. It seemed like all the servers worked all the tables simultaneously. Any server that walked by would ask you if you needed anything, you had to wait for nothing ever. I've never been in a restaurant where the servers worked this way, & can only say I wish all restaurants worked this way. This restaurant provides a truly great dining experience with exceptional food, & exceptional drinks, everything about it is exceptional! I will never find myself in Montreal without eating here. Can't wait to go back! Make reservations, the restaurant isn't large & seems to be in very high demand. So sorry I forgot to take pictures.View more
The dining experience provided is World Class. The presentation, cuisine & service delivered beyond my expectations. The food was delicious & memorable. My compliments to the staff & chefs. I flew out from Southern California & had the honor to meet Master Chef Martin Picard in person. I can't thank you & your staff enough for one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. (The Foie Gras Poutine & Canard En Conserve are sublime)

I had the Foie gras poutine & I must say that it was well worth itView more
We couldn't leave Montreal before trying this institution. We did not know to expect & tried to cultivate as much hunger as we could due to the warnings of extremely rich food. Let me say that the food is obviously quite rich but it is not unbalanced in any way. We had the oysters to begin with; they were fine but that's it, I think I wouldn't order them again as they were not so flavorful. We also tried the foie gras poutine that was very very good, opulent, not overly salted & addictive. Only thing is that maybe there could've been a few more fries there. To finish we had the aged pork chop that was properly sized & so so easy to eat, super tender, well grilled & it's perfect with its jus at the bottom also to have along the poutine. At the end of the meal we were really satisfied & didn't feel nasty full. I must mention that the wine list is very well made, concise & with great French wines but also a very well represented North American section. It was our final meal in a 4 night food trip to Montreal so maybe that influenced that we did not have a huge appetite. Cannot wait to go back & repeat.View more
10/10View more
Second time here comming from Toronto. Everything I ate except the oysters ad foie gras, & that's a good thing, you can't not eat foie & come here. Everything was amazing couldn't get enough of the foie nigiri, the terrine was amazing with the maple butter. Finally tried the duck in a can. Although I did not have the foie poutine this year, I highly recommend that to. The dessert, pouring chomeur, was great. PIck the add cheddar & foie option it's a great pairing between sweet & savory. This place never disappoints & I will be back next year again, I need to try everything on the menu.View more
View more
From the second you enter the restaurant you are greeted by a friendly staff that seem to genuinely enjoy working at the restaurant. Our server, Gabrielle, was absolutely amazing & she was genuinely cheerful & described the menu beautifully. I went with the foie gras poutine & duck in a can & I learned that I love foie gras. The poutine was by far the best I've ever had amd the duck & foie gras was just amazing & had so many amazing flavors. I love this place & it's staff & would suggest to anyone to try it out!.View more
Wow! Came here with some friends on a recommendation from their friend in London. Did not disappoint! Menu is filled with decadent options, including fois gras poutine & duck in a can (it sounds gimmicky but is some of the best duck I've ever had!). Unfortunately they don't sell the duck in can to go 😂. Would absolutely come back.View more
View more
A must visit in Montreal if you like foie gras! We had it in many forms when we visited. Individual pieces on sushi rice (aka foie gras nigiri), foie gras poutine, foie gras mapo tofu, & foie gras with the duck in a can! All were good but in particular the foie gras nigiri was the standout followed by the poutine.View more
A heartfelt thank you to Alex, Sous Chef James (I hope this name is correct. It was loud. He's from Saskatchewan. Makes a mean salt & maple sugar pomme frite) & the entire team. We had a fantastic evening at Au Pied de Cochon last night, due largely in part to their warmth & hospitality. **Sit at the bar if you dine here**. Watching this team work their tails off to serve us impeccably presented dishes elevated the experience in a way sitting at table wouldn't deliver & we greatly appreciated the front row seat & the time they took to interact with us. We enjoyed the foie gras nigiri, the infamous duck in a can, & the salt & maple sugar pomme frites. The restaurant boasts a great wine selection as well. Definitely order a side of the sourdough bread if you try the duck in a can to mop up all of the delicious sauce. The shots of jalapeno vodka & St-Germain proved to be a delightful surprise. We're contemplating a return visit to try the poutine, which stands apart from all the other poutine in Montreal in that the gravy is enhanced with fat from the foie gras. Thanks again, chefs.View more
View more
I was lucky to get a table here during my stay in Montreal, & I was alone, so I had all the time in the world to savour the food, wine & atmosphere. & what an atmosphere that was - seated a the bar right in front of the open kitchen, pure organised chaos (think The Bear...) Super attentive servers, friendly & chatty, neither my water or wine glass were ever empty. I took the sweetbreads, shepherds pie & pouding chômeur, along with wine chosen by the waiter, the dessert in particular was astonishingly good Next time I'll try the poutine as is looked really goodView more
Good food in a nice restaurant is expected. Perhaps we even take it for granted. Infrequently you are absorbed by the whole experience, from the welcome greeting, the atmosphere, all the way to the conversations - before your tastebuds are awaken! The team of professionals from the front of house to the kitchen staff is just exceptional. Then came the food: the poutine with lobster gravy & the shrimps - we jumped on to that offering as their special, before we even looked at the menu. We had the foie gras nigiri - don't judge me - I am well aware of the animal welfare arguments & I would normally abstain from it. However the concept of peanut butter & foie gras with nigiri rice was so out there, I just fell victim to the intrigue. It did exactly that. I was knocked out of the park, the city, the planet! Who would have thought?!! I live in the UK & we refer to the "humble" shepherds pie - but let's just say there is nothing humble about this shepherds pie! The beef cheeks, pork neck & the ground pork (or minced if you are a Brit), in a rich sauce, covered by a cheesy infused mash potato topping - served with a homemade ketchup that cuts through the gravy - I can only say - OMG! The best thing is the portions are not nouveau! That's just not my thing. The experience was enhanced because of the team - Alex, Annabelle & Omar! It isn't cheap, but it's an experience that will last a lifetime. Bon appétit!View more
View more
Anna delivered a supremely excellent experience for us dining. I came back for the second time to try the foie gras poutine & as a poutine vendor myself I can assert that it is THE BEST POUTINE IN MONTREAL & ARGUABLY IN THE WORLD!View more
From start to finish, the hospitality we received was overwhelming in the best possible way. We were sat at the bar, which as a chef, was exactly the experience I wanted. Our waiter, whose name eludes me, was knowledgeable in both food & drink & made the best recommendations. The cook on the other side of the bar counter overheard it was my daughter's birthday & surprised us with a mini poutine & a dessert. What a fantastic first night in Montreal!View more
Overall we enjoyed the food, the service & the atmosphere. But there are definitely some areas that can be improved. Food: Foie gras poutine gravy was luke warm & not hot so the cheese curds were not melted, not even the least bit. After about 7 minutes or so, the last bites of the poutine were cold, not warm. They do give a lot of foie gras so value wise overall not bad. Duck in a can tasted good overall but the duck contained some tendon. Extremely hard to cut. I spent 3-4 minutes trying to slice the duck in order for it to be shared between two. It was a workout for my wrist. Eventually i got the piece that had the tendon & it was not chewable. Had to spit out the unchewable piece which was not what i was expecting from a $60 dish. That aside, the rest of the dish tasted great, & wasn't as heavy as others have commented which is a good thung. Service: good service overall but i wish more attention would have been made with our party's seafood allergy Despite putting the allergy on the reservation & advising the waitress ahead of ordering, it was only discovered after the plate was brought to our table & after we asked, was it confirmed that the appetizer special contained seafood. Ambiance: lively & laid back made for a great atmosphere. But i was taken aback when one of the workers would use a swifter right above all the guests & their food to remove what im guessing as dust/webs/mosquitoes from the ceiling. & then that same person came back a second time 30 mins later; what is accumulating up there every 30 mins? Bathroom location was odd. There are only two single stalls. Both require walking through where the bar staff is actively working to get to. There is zero signage. If the bathroom is occupied, & you could only tell by standing next to the bar staff & try to open the door, then you would have to wait in an area where you are in the way of the bar staff, the servers & the bussers. You would also be standing right next to where people are eating which is weird. We ended up just leaving instead of waiting. Especially since we heard another woman tell the server that one of the toilets wouldnt flush, bringing down the functional stalls from 2 to 1.View more
This was hands down the worst food we had in Montreal. In terms of food: the foie was average at best, the poutine had been sitting out (the gravy was congealed), & no dishes were well balanced. Service: Mains didn't arrive til 90min+ into the seating; our server didn't stop by for 30min & made up an excuse for the delays instead of simply apologizing. Atmosphere: We were seated right next to the register which made the entire experience chaos, & overheard the kitchen staff comment (in french) "oh this version of the dish is messed up, but this one is fine." There's so much amazing food & drink in Montreal that spending 2.5h here felt like an utter waste of time. It's sad to see a restaurant so flagrantly ride on its past success.View more
The food takes some time to arrive, but the wait is definitely worth it! The duck foie gras poutine was clearly perfected & had gravy which was not too sweet or salty. The fries were crispy, but not burnt & the foie gras was perfect when eaten together. The canned duck was also a really good & well thought of dish. It comes in a can, like the name suggests, & with bread too. When eaten together, the canned duck tastes amazing, while not being too salty. If you're thinking about ordering a lot of food, you should order about 1 dish for every 2 people, as the dishes we ordered were very, very filling (thanks to the waiter for telling us!) The service was very amazing, as well. They were always friendly, & ready to help, but never felt annoying & in your face. Finally, the space felt very cozy, small, & well laid out. This restaurant is recommended by me!View more
