Au Comptoir MarCel is a restaurant and wine bar where gastronomes can come and discover an imaginative cuisine where everything is homemade. Just like the owners, the menu offered is also a piece of their identity, where they come from and where they have been.
Adventurers at heart, the two partners have traveled around the world for years. It was during their years in the Swiss Alps they began to imagine this place, inspired by their weekends discovering Europe, its vineyards and its culinary treasures.
Au Comptoir MarCel welcomes you in a relaxed and simple ambience where you can come and satisfy your thirst with a selection of privately imported wines, beers and ciders from local microbreweries along with a shared menu that changes throughout the year…without forgetting unique brunches served on weekends.
Au Comptoir MarCel is widely praised for a refined Portuguese-inspired menu, a warm and intimate setting by the water in Magog, and a highly regarded wine program. Service is repeatedly described as impeccable and attentive, with guests praising the staff's knowledge and the balance of creative dishes and generous flavors, including tasting menus and wine pairings that elevate the experience. While most praise is strong, some comments note small portions on tasting menus and occasional pacing or noise, yet the overall sentiment points to a memorable gastronomic experience and many diners say they will return.
I had an excellent & fun meal at Au Comptoir MarCel. I had the sardines to start & the Gaspé halibut with a squid in buerre blanc sauce. Both were so delicious & generous in the amount of food. My server was excellent & attentive, & the wines by the glass very good too. I sat on the covered terrace which was lovely that evening. Highly recommend this place in Magog.
Great food & great service. This is probably the most sophisticated cooking available in Magog restaurants right now. The space is also very pleasant for a dinner on a nice spring or summer evening.
Quel endroit extraordinaire. J'habite Magog & je ne connaissais pas du tout. Vins d'exportation privée, nourriture goûteuse & service impeccable. Le prix est conforme avec la qualité. Je suggère fortement le boudin en entrée.
An incredible evening. We did the table service & the wine pairings. Each of the 6 courses was a complete surprise & did not disappoint. The creativity & flavors of all the dishes were expertly crafted. This was made better by the attention to detail regarding the wine pairings. Each of the servers are trained as sommeliers which gave the entire experience a lot of extra credibility. The explanations were informative & you could tell they were very passionate about their service. The restaurant was able to easily accommodate my lack of French & made the experience very comfortable & enjoyable. Everything was perfect. Would go back again for sure! A real gem in Magog!

Cute little restaurant by the water in Magog with great food & lovely staff. The plates are presented beautifully & the portions are a good quantity, not too large & not too small. The ingredients used can be unusual paired together but taste delicious. View of the open kitchen & a nice large bathroom with a large counter for diaper changing. We were glad we chose this restaurant. It was worth it. We took the table d'hote menu & the chef's choice dessert platter. They offered an amuse bouche of homemade focaccia & a potato mousse with confit onions. I had the calamari with toasted almonds, & tomato chutney. My friend had a butternut squash soup with a runny egg, cream, sunflower seeds & tiny croutons. For the main dish I had herb & sunflower seed crusted trout which had a nice crispy skin. My friend had the mushroom risotto which had different mushrooms with each bite. The dessert platter was delightful. The chef, Marco, brought it out to us himself. It had churros with dolce de leche sauce, chocolate molten lava cake, some type of Chantilly cream puff pastry, a Portuguese egg tart & homemade meringues with raspberries, blackberries & candied walnuts. We finished off with herbal tea with verbena & lemongrass which unfortunately is no longer being produced. Service was at a nice relaxing pace, giving us time to digest in between & not feel rushed or left waiting. Fun fact: the name of the restaurant is the combination of Marco & Celine!
Service professionnel. Nous y reviendrons.
This is a good restaurant in Magog. The only downsides were that the restaurant's temperature was very warm & not the most comfortable. The atmosphere was great & the food was pretty good. My seafood pasta didn't have the best flavor, but that may be personal preference.
A fabulous meal that you'll want to linger over. Super attentive & thoughtful staff. & you can tell how much thought & attention goes into each dish. Will absolutely come back next time we are in Magog.
Restaurant incroyable! Un vrai bijoux de Magog! Nourriture merveilleuse & délicieuse, une onde de joie dans chaque bouchée! Le personnel était également extrêmement serviable & attentionné.

A must try restaurant when in Magog! The food was amazing & the staff was even more spectacular. Super friendly & helpful. They helped us order 4 amazing dishes; sardines, octopus, pasta w/ shrimp & lions mane mushroom. All where to die for! So next time you're visiting Magog, make sure you make reservations early!
This is what modern French food should taste like! The service was outstanding, as expected. Wish you had a 10 star option. We live in NY but Au Compton is a reason to return to Magog! MERCI!
Our group of six friends was impressed with this restaurant. We chose to be seated on the terrace which was nicely heated on this cool day. We would have loved to order the table d'hôte (three courses for $51) because the menu offers tempting selections for each course. But having overindulged the day before, we could only manage a main & coffee, with drinks. After our drinks arrived, we were treated to a complimentary amuse bouche - a mousse of carrots over a macédoine of carrots & halibut, served with house-made focaccia. It was out of this world - an explosion of flavour & textures - foamy mousse with chunks of sweet carrots & halibut. The focaccia was the perfect counterpoint, soft, chewy & slightly salty. The mains were delicious - some of us had the fresh tagliatelle with lobster & lobster bisque with lardons. I had expected the pasta to be served in a soupy bisque. It was not but was nonetheless loaded with chunks of lobster, lardons & sautéed kale. It tasted very lobster-y. Others had the Gaspé halibut in a coulis of asparagus with sautéed asparagus & basil. They said it was yummy - the halibut was cooked perfectly & the coulis was a bright fresh green purée with plentiful chunks of sautéed asparagus. The service is very professional, friendly & attentive. The wine list is extensive & well-curated. The dirty martinis are excellent! We all loved our meal at au comptoir MarCel & will return next time we are in Magog.
