Au Comptoir MarCel is a restaurant and wine bar where gastronomes can come and discover an imaginative cuisine where everything is homemade. Just like the owners, the menu offered is also a piece of their identity, where they come from and where they have been.
Adventurers at heart, the two partners have traveled around the world for years. It was during their years in the Swiss Alps they began to imagine this place, inspired by their weekends discovering Europe, its vineyards and its culinary treasures.
Au Comptoir MarCel welcomes you in a relaxed and simple ambience where you can come and satisfy your thirst with a selection of privately imported wines, beers and ciders from local microbreweries along with a shared menu that changes throughout the year…without forgetting unique brunches served on weekends.
Across reviews, Au Comptoir MarCel is described as a refined and generous dining spot with attentive service, imaginative cuisine, and a warm intimate atmosphere. The menu earns praise for Portuguese inspired dishes and seafood, with tasting menus and wine pairings noted as highlights, and a pleasant terrace view over the water enhancing the experience. Guests frequently commend professional and knowledgeable staff, and a strong wine program, while some mention that dining pace and value for money can vary. While most visits are described as memorable with creative presentations and flavorful dishes, a few experiences cite small portions for the price, occasional uneven timing or overcooked items, and noisy rooms. Overall the restaurant is regarded as a standout in Magog, with many planning return visits for special occasions and the tasting menu with wine pairings commonly recommended.
What a gem! Portuguese-inspired fine dining in a cozy, relaxed environment. We have been multiple times & we have enjoyed every single bite we've eaten. Staff is super friendly & very knowledgeable about their well-curated wine selection. This time, we did the tasting menu & loved it! The kitchen was super accommodating of allergies too!
This place is nice but not worth the price. I've been to multi-course, gastronomy dinners before & this one was not at the level of what they were charging. We took the'discovery menu'. The portions were too small, & we didn't leave full. It was, about 200$ for two people after tax & tip, without any wine!! Not worth it. If you go, I would just take a regular meal. The flavours were good.

From the moment we entered, we knew this was going to be a superb experience. Service was phenomenal. The kitchen was able to adjust the tasting menu for pescetarians & it was all delicious. The wine was a perfect accompaniment. We can't wait to come back again!
My husband & I had a wonderful dinner, & were pleased to be able to sample a range of the chef's options through the Tasting Menu. We also enjoyed the creative cocktails & quality wines. The staff were delightful & made us most welcome.
I had an excellent & fun meal at Au Comptoir MarCel. I had the sardines to start & the Gaspé halibut with a squid in buerre blanc sauce. Both were so delicious & generous in the amount of food. My server was excellent & attentive, & the wines by the glass very good too. I sat on the covered terrace which was lovely that evening. Highly recommend this place in Magog.

The food was really good & our waiter was very knowledgeable with the wine. The atmosphere was great. A bit noisy. If you want more of a cozy ambiance stay inside.
An incredible evening. We did the table service & the wine pairings. Each of the 6 courses was a complete surprise & did not disappoint. The creativity & flavors of all the dishes were expertly crafted. This was made better by the attention to detail regarding the wine pairings. Each of the servers are trained as sommeliers which gave the entire experience a lot of extra credibility. The explanations were informative & you could tell they were very passionate about their service. The restaurant was able to easily accommodate my lack of French & made the experience very comfortable & enjoyable. Everything was perfect. Would go back again for sure! A real gem in Magog!
Everything we ate was fabulous. The focaccia was the best I've tasted. The halibut was cooked to perfection with a subtle but wonderful sauce to accompany it. The wine list was a perfect compliment to the menu. I only wish there'd been a little more food. Bravo!
We opted for the tasting menu with the wine pairing & had an excellent meal that was very reasonably priced for the high quality of the food. The staff were also very friendly.

Very nice restaurant, sit out on the terrace or inside, both are lovely, & the staff are really excellent, & super knowledgeable about the wine. The food was also different, interesting & delicious, although not huge portions, so have an appetizer! Overall a wonderful dining experience.
Fantastic! Magnifique! My wife & I celebrated our anniversary with a delicious dinner here. We chose the Tasting Menu & the 4 wine pairings. The food was amazing, delicious, & beautifully presented. The wines were wonderful & paired perfectly with the food. The service was cheerful, friendly, & welcoming. Highly recommend!
Our group of six friends was impressed with this restaurant. We chose to be seated on the terrace which was nicely heated on this cool day. We would have loved to order the table d'hôte (three courses for $51) because the menu offers tempting selections for each course. But having overindulged the day before, we could only manage a main & coffee, with drinks. After our drinks arrived, we were treated to a complimentary amuse bouche - a mousse of carrots over a macédoine of carrots & halibut, served with house-made focaccia. It was out of this world - an explosion of flavour & textures - foamy mousse with chunks of sweet carrots & halibut. The focaccia was the perfect counterpoint, soft, chewy & slightly salty. The mains were delicious - some of us had the fresh tagliatelle with lobster & lobster bisque with lardons. I had expected the pasta to be served in a soupy bisque. It was not but was nonetheless loaded with chunks of lobster, lardons & sautéed kale. It tasted very lobster-y. Others had the Gaspé halibut in a coulis of asparagus with sautéed asparagus & basil. They said it was yummy - the halibut was cooked perfectly & the coulis was a bright fresh green purée with plentiful chunks of sautéed asparagus. The service is very professional, friendly & attentive. The wine list is extensive & well-curated. The dirty martinis are excellent! We all loved our meal at au comptoir MarCel & will return next time we are in Magog.
Service was excellent, Waitress really knows what wines to recommend. Both my spouse & I took calamari & tagliatelle lobster pasta & the calamari was unique but slightly overcooked & the pasta did not have anything lobster bisque about it & Lobster bisque is one of my fave dishes. All that being said the dish was still ok, but was expecting a little better. I would still recommend the restaurant if your budget is around 100$ per person.

Cosy with a friendly atmosphere & attentive, professional service. The expert sommelier recommended perfect wine pairings for our seafood dishes from the private-import wine list, & our dishes were exquisitely plated. Without question, the best bistro-fine-dining venue in Magog at present.
This restaurant is a food lover’s delight. We went with the table d’hôte & all three courses were expertly prepared & plated. Our food choices ranged from charcuterie to seafood fritters, to steak, & finally a mixture of desserts selected by the chef. The wine selection is very good & I can highly recommend the cabernet franc, La Petite Musette. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable. This just has to be the best restaurant in Magog!
