*EDIT*
After such a positive experience at Arthur's, I made a point to take my mom in her short visit to the city. Unfortunately, we were mostly disappointed by the experience!
The smorgasboard (which I ordered on my first visit) was still amazing. However, the syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes), although tasty, could really use some fruits to make it less heavy. We asked our waitress about this & she said they only add fruits when they're in season… it's mid-May & a quick walk to Atwater Market or even Super C will show you a wide variety of fruits.
Most importantly, however, was the disappointing customer service.
When we asked the waiter who sat us at our table if they had a washroom, he sarcastically said'obviously, we're a restaurant.' Yes, I know you have a washroom, it was a polite way I found to ask a question in a language that isn't my first. It's not a major issue, but it sets the wrong tone for customer service (as someone who's worked in the industry).
Further, the waitress who took care of our table was always rushing us, & it seemed like she avoided eye contact so she wouldn't see us when we asked for something. I was so confused by this, as I received much better service a couple of months ago, on a Sunday, when the restaurant was packed - on my visit with my mom, it was about half full, so not like the waiters needed to run around.
While we enjoyed the food, I was sad that the service was so poor in comparison to my wonderful past experience.

Wow, I'm amazed at how good the food here was! My friend & I shared a smorgasbord (we added avocado, bread, & scrambled eggs to make sure it was filling for both) & were so impressed by how good it was! The scrambled eggs were absolutely divine. Not sure how they managed to make something as simple as scrambled eggs taste as good as it did, but alas!
The space is lovely & well-decorated & the staff were very friendly! The only thing I'll say is that it gets rather crowded, we had to wait a bit over an hour to get a bar seats, so make sure to plan ahead.
As of drinks, we got an iced vanilla latte & a London fog - both were fine, nothing really special. The food truly is the highlight!
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a really good brunch spot in Montreal. What we like most is the cottage cheese pancakes & the fried eggs, everything is super flavorful & well done.
They don't have an espresso machine, but that doesn't bother us since we actually prefer filter coffee.
Overall, it's an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch in the city. Just keep in mind they don't take reservations, so you usually have to wait a bit, especially on weekends.
Awful. Overrated. Worst filter coffee of my life. I barely drank it & they charged my 4$! I literally saw people coming in with coffee from across the street from Cafe Campanelli! Also they don't have certain thinks on the menu in the week which was disappointing. What I ordered wasn't anything special. The latkas were good. The best thing were the pancakes but there were only 2 & it's 18$...ridiculous. Never going back.
I went to Arthur's Nosh Bar this morning & was so happy to be back after their reopening. The new space is absolutely beautiful-thoughtfully designed, warm, & inviting. The staff are just as welcoming as ever, creating that same comforting atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. & of course, the food is amazing-every bite worth it.
It was especially meaningful to catch up with Raegan after not seeing her for a while. She is just as kind, supportive, & generous as ever. I'm so grateful I had the chance to talk with her about memories my mom & I shared in her restaurants. Even though my mom has been gone for a few months, today I truly felt like she was with me.
I know people sometimes comment on the wait or things not moving quickly enough. But honestly, my advice is to slow down & appreciate the time you have. Everything moves so fast these days, & being able to sit, relax, & enjoy incredible food in a space that holds such meaningful memories is exactly what I needed today.
Arthurs Nosh Bar is hands-down some of the best food in Montreal. From the moment you walk in, you're completely captivated by the energy of the place. Everything feels effortless, welcoming, & a little bit magical - the kind of atmosphere that makes you instantly feel excited to be there.
The staff were incredibly kind & attentive, which only made the experience better. But more than anything, the food was truly top-tier. The pancakes were next level, & every single detail on our plates felt thoughtful & perfectly done.
My husband ordered the Grand Slam & he's still talking about the fried chicken.
Arthurs is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. Easily some of the best food in the city.
& we of course bought their cookbook as a souvenir.
We have enjoyed our passage in Arthur's Nosh Bar😍 Big up to their syrniki (best pancakes I swear)
The pancakes/syrniki were absolutely DELICIOUS. What ruined it for us was the poor service. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all & she barely looked at us in the eye. It felt like we were bothering her. It was my mom's birthday, so it's a special day. You want to feel welcome & at ease. This doesn't happen at Arthur's Nosh Bar unfortunately. What we also found weird was that she was more enthusiastic with the other customers (who happened to look more similar to her...) 🤔
At least we ate well.
A must visit when coming to Montreal!!!
I was lucky & picked a good time to go- had a space at the bar available.
Kind host & service - shout out Alex!
I got the jack Johnson- world famous banana pancakes. The most sweet & savoury pancakes you can have!!!
The egg I got was a side dish but the pancakes would have been enough.
Also seen on Rachel ray & many tv shows!!
Tried the famous Arthur's Nosh bar for breakfast today. There was a lineup even before they opened, but we were early & were quickly seated. I had the grand slam which is a bit deceiving from the picture, but still tasted very nice. The pancakes were soft & fluffy. The hot sauce is spicy though & has a certain kick to it. The servers were considerate to our requests, but the service was very slow. Had to wait almost 30 minutes to get the food. Good experience overall!
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a cozy & vibrant spot offering delicious comfort food with a modern twist. The menu features hearty sandwiches, flavorful breakfast options, & freshly brewed coffee - all made with quality ingredients. The staff is friendly, & the service is quick, making it perfect for both casual meals & relaxed hangouts. With its warm atmosphere & tasty dishes, Arthur's Nosh Bar delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
The girl who served me was nice (she did what you'd expect from a restaurant normally service wise), & the food overall was good! The pancakes are worth trying. I would've given a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that I accidentally left my takeout box on the table. I came back literally two minutes later, only to find out they had already thrown it out. There was still half of my meal in there, & I barely got an apology. A bit disappointing &, in my opinion, not the best customer service. You'd expect a restaurant as highly rated to be more proactive & prioritize customer experience/satisfaction.
Arthur's Nosh Bar was highly recommended to us during our visit to Montréal, & we can understand why.
This restaurant has a great dining area that's well lit & relaxing. The staff are all friendly & helpful. There is also a lot of merchandise for sale.
We ordered the Strawberry Syrniki for breakfast (a cheesy pancake). It was one of the best breakfasts we had on our visit. The pancake wasn't too sweet (which is what we've noticed from other breakfast places in Canada) & & strawberries & maple syrup enhanced the flavour. Highly recommend Arthur's Nosh Bar for breakfast.
Sat at the bar, ordered their pancake. The ricotta pancake was light, with a deliciously drizzled maple syrup & powdered with sea salt that cut through the rich syrup.
Solid service by the barman, very attentive, offering sharing plates before we even asked.
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a restaurant on Notre-Dame St. W. in St. Henri. Owners Alex Cohen & Raegan Steinberg, a married couple, worked at Joe Beef before opening Arthurs.
The restaurant serves Jewish classics with a twist. I've been wanting to go here since last year for brunch, but I never got the chance.
I decided to try it because I've never been to a Jewish inspired restaurant before, & the ratings seemed good.
I walked in the heat & sun to the middle of a very odd place on a weekday afternoon to get to here. I was surprised it was packed & had a waitlist.
I ordered:
LATKE SMORGASBORD
SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS, LATKE, SALMON GRAVLAX, ISRAELI SALAD, PRESSED CHALLAH ROLL
I quite liked it, especially the pressed challah roll. It's nice that it's something sweet, served with other savoury items. The latke was good too. Out of the menu items, this one is popular alongside with the pancakes (but I ordered Katie smorgasbord because it seemed more unique to me).
We tried Arthur Nosh Bar 2 months ago & it was amazing, we sat at the terrasse & ordered these.. (See pics below) .. all the food are very tasty!! Esp the soft scrambled egg yum! Super umami!! With the Salami & Challah Roll!! Best combo!! . Cottage cheese pancakes really good as well, I just find it a bit overpriced? But really good for sharing!!
Will come back!! 🙂🙂🙂
