The Feijoada, famous Brazilian dish consisted mainly of beans stew with jerked pork & sausages is a must. The coxinha, served as a starters, a small delicacy fried & filled with shredded chicken is so flavorful that you cannot miss . Don't forget about the caipirinha drink & you'll have a wonderful Brazilian experience in Montreal.
Our experience at Acajou was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed & every dish made us feel like we were in Brazil. We started with delicious pastel & perfectly made coxinhas. Then we had shrimp bobó, feijoada, & grilled picanha strips with fried cassava - everything was flawless, flavorful, & generously served. The owners came to our table to greet us & chat, which made the experience even more special. All the staff were incredibly kind & attentive. We'll definitely come back & highly recommend Acajou to anyone looking for a true Brazilian experience in Montreal!
We were craving pastel & decided to try Acajou Restaurant. Unfortunately, I left still craving pastel.
The taste was nothing like a traditional Brazilian pastel - it felt more like a fried dough with cheese inside, lacking flavor & crunch. The pao de queijo also didn't resemble the real Brazilian version at all.
Service was slow, & the food took even longer to come out, even though we only ordered two pastéis & a portion of pao de queijo.
Another downside is the smoke from the kitchen, which spreads throughout the entire restaurant.
Overall, my experience wasn't great. Maybe it's worth a visit if you're going for the barbecue, but if you're looking for good pastel, this is definitely not the place.
XimXim was to die for (think, Brazilian Mafe) 😍😍😍😍😍 The meat in the Churrasco was on point, with the fried casava flour, fried, rice, black beans...... 🤯
I was visiting Montreal for few days & was looking for Brazilian food & I found this restaurant close to my hotel, it's very easy to get there there is a metro station right on the corner. I'm speechless by the flavor of the food, it's was incredible delicious, very well seasoned, I order some Brazilian salgados to start, coxinha, bolinho de bacalhau & risoles de camarao, was perfect fried & the dough was soft & the meat was very good seasoned, for main course I ordered the picanha & came with rice, beans, vinaigrette, farofa & fried yuca, the meat was cooked in perfectly way, the & rice & beans in small portions enough for one person. The close I went to this food test was only in Brazil, I've been to many Brazilian restaurants outside Brazil specifically in USA & nothing compares to this one. It's a small restaurant the atmosphere was nice, a little bit Brazilian music, the only complaint I have was the bathroom, the toilet was dirty & broke, & the sink was full of water probably was also broken.
