We were charged a dish extra & a glass of wine we hadnt ordered. They gave us a bit of soju to make up for it but they were clearly understaffed with 2 waiters & the 2 chefs for the whole packed restaurant on a Saturday night. Waiters were good & did their best tho. The chefs are really good & some of the dishes are exquisite (gnocchis, fried oyster), others are more just deep fried with no presentation like the pleurotes. Overall bill was 140$ for a bottle of wine & 4 dishes which is more pricey than other similar restaurants. Not bad but bit great either. Appreciated it but will not return.View more
I loved the unique blend of Korean food with a European touch at this restaurant. The dishes were flavorful presented. The wine pairing recommendations were perfect, making the meal even more enjoyable. Great service & a cozy atmosphere, definitely worth a visit :)View more
Great dinner with friends. Friendly staff, great wine selection & tasty food. Would go back !View more
Great all around. The dumplings are a must order, I'd skip the tonkatsu not because of the execution, but because it's a pretty basic dish. Great soju & wine selection.View more
We had a great meal & the service was attentive. Those + the lively ambience made for a fun evening! ONE CAVEAT: ask for the sommelier if you want a knowledgeable wine recommendation-we first went with a white wine recommended by the server that turned out to be orange-coloured (despite not being an orange wine) & undrinkable past a sip or two.View more
Having visited Seoul & Tokyo on a few occasions over the last few years, I enjoyed this small neighborhood restaurant that takes its inspiration from Korea & Japan. A special note for the EXCEPTIONAL service. The waiter contacted us after we left to mention an error on our bill. How many times does this happen? The food is very good, the pricing is fair, the staff is friendly & kind, but I feel there are a few details that still can be improved to make this an exceptional dining experience. First, the music is too loud. It is almost impossible to hear & understand the waiters & have a conversation with someone at the table. Second, the menu is very good, but I feel some plates could be bolder. Our plate of lamb chops with mashed potatoes was well executed & perfectly cooked, but could have been prepared in any of the many French bistros in Montreal. I thought that this dish needed to have a stronger Korean-infused flavour (sauce?) to warrant a special place on the menu. Lastly, I feel that more care & professionalism should be directed at the drink menu. Our kind, attentive, serviable, but mostly overwhelmed waiter (there were a few minor hiccups in the kitchen that slowed the pace of the dinner - not a problem at our table), she had difficulty explaining to us some of the items on the drinks menu, their origin (local producer?) & their flavour profile to go with the menu. At a day & age where menus are ever more eclectic & complex, & the flavour profile of natural wines is often impossible to predict, I think that it is the important for the staff to have deeper understanding of what is offered to complement the menu. That being said, we will go back, perhaps on a more quiet evening or earlier on a busy to appreciate the food & the great service.View more
Omg. A real gem. Tiny but the atmosphere very nice. Great service, the waitress was very kind & also knew what wine goes with what. The food, korean fushion I would say. Loved it very much. My friend & I had their signature dumplings oyster mushroom tempura kimchi fried rice yuringi (fried chicken asian chimichurri) duck confit beef tartare (tastes like korean bulgogi) Definitely have to go back & try other dishes!View more
Food was great, but for this kind of restaurant, not fine dining setting or service, a wine list with nothing under 90$ a bottle, is unexceptable.
It was a really nice atmosphere, ambiance. The service was pretty good as well with friendly staff.
The food was tasty, had some nice flavours & textures which I enjoyed, the cocktails were also good & a good wine list.
Wine list is too pricey
Food was very average, nothing stood out as exceptional
Won't go back
Nouveau coup de cœur. The moment we walked in I was greeted by my name. Natural wine list, a few open bottles to choose from. Oysters, dumplings, beef tartare were outstanding. Kimchi fried rice & fried chicken were also very satisfying. Food, atmosphere & service has me returning most definitely.View more
Great night at 9 Tail, we were 4 people so shared 5 appetizers & 4 mains... & each one was better then the last. Great ambience, excellent service too, & a nice cocktail list & wine selection that went well with the food. The staff were knowledgeable & explained the dishes, ingredients & the chef came by to talk to us too. Standouts for me were the oyster mushroom & porcini dumplings starters, & then the steak & potato & chicken mains. Definitely going back so I can have some of the other dishes I missed (& to try the other cocktails too)!
Excellent discovery, dedication & care was felt in the ingeniosity of the menu, cosy place & welcoming place. The waitress Lea guided us sensationally thru the menu & made us discover excellent wine pairing. Memorable birthday dinner, 10/10 would recommend
If you love innovative tapas style eating you will love this place! Also, the person serving us was very enthusiastic, informative, friendly & very helpful, with excellent suggestions for a good combination of dishes, wine & cocktails.
