Review Summary

Overall Yakitori Hibahihi is described as an exciting, almost authentic Japanese yakitori experience in Montreal, with standout skewers cooked over charcoal and a thoughtful menu that includes sashimi, cold and hot dishes, and a strong sake and wine list. The atmosphere is repeatedly praised as warm, intimate, stylish, and vibrant, with attentive staff guiding guests through the tasting and making friends and family feel welcome. Service is generally highlighted as excellent and passionate, with notes about pacing and getting advice from the staff to balance orders, and a hot towel ritual that sets a welcoming tone. While the food is widely loved for flavor, some reviewers note that prices can be high for portion size and that a few dishes can feel dry or underseasoned, and that the menu can be confusing at times. Nevertheless, most guests would return to try more skewers and explore the sake and cocktail options, appreciating the overall vibe and the quality that makes this place stand out.

Very authentic but pricey. It came out to around $100 per person tax & tips included. But you're paying for quick service & truly delicious yakitori. You can really taste the char of the grill, & it's high quality charcoal that is used. (If you've been to Otto around the year 2016, you will be pleased to know the chef responsible for yakitoris there is the one who opened this restaurant.) I would definitely come again for a good time with friends.

We had such a great experience at this yakitori place! Alicia, our waitress, was incredibly sweet & made us feel so welcome from the start. She even had my husband try several different sakes, & every single one was amazing.

A big thank you as well to the busboy & the hostess who kindly found us a spot last minute for 3 it was truly appreciated. The service was excellent all around, & the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back!

The food was incredible, there wasn't anything I didn't find completely delicious. Sake selection was great & very attentive service. It's on the pricier side for sure but it feels like a high end experience.

The restaurant has a nice vibe & setup. Came here for the food based on reviews & was disappointed since there no big flavour in the meats or dishes.

Amazing food, vibe & drinks. It's a bit on the pricey end. I'd give 5 stars, but our waiter wasn't wearing any deodorant & the smell was unpleasantly overpowering each time he came at the table.

Chicken skewers & beer, what more could you ask for?

Yakitori Hibahihi is certainly reminiscent of a japanese eatery; the ambiance, decor & smell of charcoal-grilled food will take you back to a lively night in Tokyo.

Although the food was on the pricier side, everything was delicious. Highly recommended for a fun night out with friends & family over some shared plates & drinks.

Best skewers spot in town! Great service as well! Tried fried chicken skin appetizer & every meat skewers except for the Wagyu one & they were all delicious. The plum beer was also a really nice discovery!

We had an amazing first visit to Yakitori Hibahihi! The food was absolutely delicious across the board. The chicken wings (Teba) & the crispy chicken skin (Kawa Pon) were standout favorites-perfectly cooked & full of flavor.
The service was incredibly warm & welcoming. Our waitress was fantastic; her English was excellent, making the whole experience smooth & enjoyable for my family. It's rare to find a place where the atmosphere, service, & food are all top-notch. Highly recommend for families!

I visited on Friday night around 7:30 PM. I understand it was busy, but the service was very inconsistent & frustrating.

One staff member told me takeaway was available, so I waited about 10 minutes. However, another staff member (who was handling the entrance/takeaway requests at that time) then told me it was not possible, & that no seats were available due to full reservations.

When I asked a simple question about whether takeaway or seating would be possible on another day, this staff member tried to cut off the conversation & prioritised other customers without answering clearly, while also assuming I was asking about availability for the same day. I had to insist on getting a basic answer.

Overall, the issue was not the lack of availability, but the dismissive attitude & lack of clear communication. I hope the team can improve consistency & customer interaction.
