Ok, if you like reheated pizza...
We ordered a pickup order there last Sunday (Nov. 30th). The order was supposed to be ready at 6:24. I got there at 6:21, & the first pizza (of 3) was already on the counter (not under a reheater). Not bad... Well, it took an additional 18 MINUTES for third one to be ready. So by the time I left, that first one had been sitting there for 20 minutes, almost, if not more.
I complained after 10 minutes that it was not acceptable & I'd get home & it would be cold, but they assured me it it would not, & offered to reheat it! (by that time the 2nd & 3rd ones were still no where in sight, so reheating was not an option... & should it be, when you order fresh food from a restaurant???).
10 minutes later when I finally got my order, I complained again that that first one had been sitting there for roughly 20 minutes, & the answer I got was,'Well I offered to reheat it'.
It was indeed cold by the time I got home, 4 minutes away.
That was our second attempt at Welldun. The first time, I think the pizza was taken out of the oven too soon, some of the meat on it felt uncooked, & was also cold when I got home (it didn't sit on the counter this time). We had to throw it in the oven before we could enjoy it. So reheated pizza too. We thought we'd give them another try.
Their pizzas are good, when they are, but a one in two miss rate is higher than I'd like.
As for service, well... it leaves a lot to be desired, as others have pointed out.
I recently visited Welldune Pizza, & I have very mixed feelings about my experience.
The Good:
First & foremost, the pizza itself was excellent. It was hot, fresh, & had a great flavor profile. The quality of the food is definitely what gives this establishment any rating at all.
The Bad (Service Issue):
Unfortunately, the entire experience was hampered by the service at the front counter. I waited nearly 20 minutes for a simple pizza, which is an excessive amount of time.
The issue was largely due to the cashier. She appeared completely disengaged from her duties & was moving at a very slow pace. Instead of focusing on processing orders & serving the queue, she was engaged in an extended personal conversation with a friend at the counter. When she finally did interact with customers, she seemed annoyed rather than helpful. This lack of professionalism & efficiency significantly soured the entire visit.
It's frustrating to see a business with such delicious food let down by poor front-of-house focus. Management needs to address the efficiency & attitude of their staff immediately. If you're willing to endure a potentially long & annoying wait, the pizza is certainly worth the wait-but be prepared for service that is anything but good definitely not worth a 30% tip
First I dont understand people who complain about the heat. Its a pizzeria so obviously the store would be boiling. First time I went it was FULLY packed + the heatwave made it impossible to wait so I decided to give it a try when it's less busy & Bingo! Very good pizzeria in the heart of Verdun. I got their grand Ma pizza which was full of good & fresh flavors ; tomato sauce was good, spicy oil very tasty but lets talk about the dough : DELIGHTFUL. Tastes like a focaccia dough, very good. Staff heat the pizza on spot. Big variety of drinks too.
Only downside is the garbage bin thats always fully packed. I'd appreciate if one of the crew member took a 2min to empty it...
Overall so good & staff very kind & sweet 💕
Easily in my top 5 pizza in Montreal. Possibly even top 3. I took the sicilian meat lover & the magherita grandma. The magherita was absolutely delicious. I finally understood what the umami flavor means. I do have one complain about it tho. The cashier told us it was fresh, but I think they let it cool too much & the slice I received was lukewarm at best, which made the slice a bit hard to chew. Still, despite that, the flavor was insane. I prefered that flavor over the sicilian. I highly recommend trying the place & I'll be back myself for sure.
There are two categories of pizzeria's in town. Welldun falls under the latter: Expensive, High End with a spin (in this case, two) on pizza's.
Marguerita Pizza (the true choice to test the 3 main ingredients). Dough spot on, thin, light, crispy. Sauce nice, like one step below fresh tomatoes (not possible season round) but good, right flavour. Cheese was mozzarella, it was okay & helped out by the pecorino grated cheese. 4 out of 5.
Spicy Sausage Pizza. Ah yes, this one could of been great like other pizzerias. Dough, Sauce, Mozzarella like a Margarita. By spicy sausage, we thought the sausage was spicy (spicy peppers used for hot & spicy flavour). Way too little sausage (maybe 10 fingernail size pieces of sausage) & Way too many peppers (they got quantities mixed up imho). 2.5 out of 5.
Sicilian Style Pepperoni Pizza. Well, I am not a fan of this spin on a pan type pizza. Tomato sauce stlii good, but the dough is a little too greasy imho (not sure if Sicilian Pizza is supposed to be this greasy). Ah, the pepperoni, sorry guys but it is one of the low end ingredients you use on your pizza's. It is bland, super small, & gets'dog ears' when cooked as it curls up. Only saving grace, it's not oily on top. Flavour less. 3.5 out of 5.
This place hits a homerun for that walk in slice & go customer. They sell alot, it's fast & fresh. Hard pass if you're doing takeout for a family & friends gathering. 3 pizza's ran me a $100 & at best they are like a Domino's Medium in size. They were not bad, but with 6 people & kids there was leftovers.
I've been looking forward in trying this spot out for months. Let me say, it definitely is as good as everyone says!!! I loveddd it! The pizza dough is fresh, fluffy & everything else just delishhhhh! I had the mushroom & MVP one. Yummmmmm!
Waiting in line in those fumes was rough, i couldn't imagine how the staff can work in that ouffff, all props to them! It's small, so expect to mainly go for take out. But now during summer there are benches close by, was perfect!
Whoever writes the names on the boxes, so pretty! Haha 🙌🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Best Pizza I ate in Montreal! Especially the Detroit style, it is amazing & very hard to find in this city! Highly recommend, it's very fresh & tasty!
Decided to stop in for a slice while I was strolling down Wellington street in Verdun. I was looking for a sandwich shop or blackstrap bbq but couldn't find either so I decided to go inside Welldun pizza to sample a slice & I am glad I did: The pizza was awesome! Fresh ingredients, chunky pizza sauce & crispy'welldun' dough. I had a slice of the Margherita & a slice of the Sicilian style pepperoni (a corner of course!).
Atmosphere was cool, it reminded me of an old school pizzeria & I loved the counter seating in the back of the restaurant. The Service was very friendly & welcoming. I watched the owner carefully making one delicious pizza after another while talking with some regular customers. Loved the ambiance & will definitely be making a return trip very soon! As I was leaving I saw a beautiful pie coming out of the oven, the carnivore, with heaping servings of various meats. I wanted to sit back down & have another slice but decided to save it for the next time ; ...
It turns out Welldun Pizza is in the same spot as the old Blackstrap BBQ. A second life for a great location! Highly recommended for a quick delicious pizza
Went from the East End of Montreal to Verdun to get some Welldun Pizza. Did not disappoint. Best pizza I have ever tasted. Fresh ingredients. Simply delicious! Highly recommend!
I came to try Welldun Pizza while visiting family in Montreal. They have some great options & they all looked delicious. I ended up trying their Sicilian slice as they had a fresh one coming out. It was fluffy, crunchy & full of flavour. Definitely a must try if you're around the area! See my 2 part video below for the honest review!
Counter self-serve pizza place. We tried 3 slices of pizza. Detroit pepperoni (7$), New York Margherita (5$) & Grandma Margherita (5.75$). Our favorite is New York Margherita. In addition to being the cheapest, we prefer our crust slim. Also, it's a popular item so it was fresh out of the oven. Detroit pizza has a thick crust & grandma pizza is the rectangular one.
Uber duber delicious, super fresh🤤 Best pizza so far :) The employees vibes well with the customer ! Thanks 🙏🏼
Detroit-style pizza was thick & heavy. I liked the vodka bacon flavour. This place is usually busy with long line up. Pizza is made & baked fresh & wel-prepared.
Best pizza I've ever had & I've had a lot of pizza!! Every bite was just delicious, even after being rewarmed at home. We tried multiple different pieces & styles & they were all incredible. Truly. What a find this place is. My favourite was the mushroom & pepper pizza. Everything tasted so fresh! The crisp & crunch of the crusts, everything was perfect. Other than the amazing pizzas, the staff was friendly but I felt so bad for them cuz it was like a boiler in there & super smokey, I don't know how they handle that. But they did not show anything other than kind & friendly service. Can't wait to go back again.
Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. A unique spot in that they have 4 styles to choose from (NY, Detroit, Sicilian, & Grandma) & all of them done exceptionally well. Most pizza spots usually just stick with one style, or two. My favourites were the Sicilian pepperoni & Detroit vodka sauce with pesto. I would recommend dining-in so you can get the slices freshly re-heated out of the oven.
Best slice of pizza you will have in Montreal. Full of flavour, fresh ingredients & some of the most original recipes you will see in town. It's like gourmet food on a budget without sacrificing the flavour. I'm on the east side of Montreal & it's worth the drive. HABLAN ESPAÑOL
This place is a must visit in Montreal!!! The pizza was genuinely the best pizza me & my husband have ever had in our lives. We got a slice of the grandma Margherita to taste, & a box of Detroit style pizza with burrata on top. Somehow we couldnt decide which pizza was better, because they were both so good. Everything is made fresh to order, they give you great recommendations on what to eat & the flavor combinations (they really know their flavour profiles). Plus the restaurant is super clean, we were very impressed with the cleanliness. If that wasn't enough, to top it all off the customer service is truly unmatched, everyone was super friendly & seemed to love what they do. I live hours away from Montreal & can't wait to go back!!! We recommended this place to all of our friends. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!!! Outstanding place!
