Review Summary

Vivaldi has earned a reputation as a must-visit destination in Montreal, frequently praised for its delicious, authentic Italian cuisine and generous portion sizes. Diners consistently highlight the high quality of home-style dishes, such as fresh pasta, seafood, and homemade desserts like tiramisu, which are prepared from scratch with clear care. The atmosphere is often described as warm and cozy, making it a great choice for family gatherings, celebrations, and casual dinners alike. While the restaurant can become quite busy and lively, the attentive and professional staff ensure that guests feel welcome and well-cared for throughout their meal. With the added benefit of being a bring-your-own-wine establishment and offering excellent value, Vivaldi is widely considered a hidden gem that leaves a lasting impression on visitors and locals.

It's hard to believe that such an unassuming restaurant nestled in a suburban strip mall would serve food this good. I had the bruschetta with feta, the calamari & the tortellini a la Contessa. The bruschetta was perfect. I've never had such a well-balanced bruschetta with a crostini so perfectly sliced & with just the right amount of crispiness to it that there's a crunch without cutting up your mouth. The calamari was just firm enough without being chewy & the breading was perfectly seasoned & melts in your mouth. The veal tortellini was impeccable; you can really tell they make their own pasta & sauces from scratch. The service was fast & delightful, the food was amazing, this is definitely a place you have to check out if you love good Italian food & one of the best restaurants in Montreal period.

Restaurant was busy. There was 6 in our group. Food was mixed. Appetizers were decent. Mains not so much. Eggplant Parmesan was under cooked. Pasta sauce was so-so. Pizza wasn't the best I've had but was OK. Our waitress did the best she could serving us & a large group seated beside us. Dishes came out with gaps in between for our group. Not going back there. Sorry

Visiting Montreal for a few days & definitely had to visit Vivaldi since I've been a huge fan of Chef Steve for a long time. The food & service went above & beyond my expectations.

The grilled octopus had a wonderful char-grilled flavour to it which was complemented by the capers & onions, & the seasoning oil tied all the flavours together beautifully.

The calf liver was soft, slightly sweet, & had such a great flavour to it, not to mention the demiglace that it was served with - I could eat just the sauce with some bread & be a happy man. The grilled vegetables were great for soaking up all the sauce & juices from the liver.

The tiramisu was soft, moist, & the sweetness of the cream was wonderfully contrasted by the deep, rich, bitterness of the cocoa powder.

Maximus took care of me & he was incredibly attentive & friendly despite how busy the restaurant was on a Saturday evening.

Huge thanks to Steve for taking the time to come meet & chat with me at the table, it was an absolute pleasure - I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

This place was interesting. The menu is super outdated, think marsala & pamigianas. The pasta was not great, & the veal was slightly bland. The sauce & the mushrooms were delicious though. I think they can take the time to remove the butter from the awful plastic cups. The tiramumisu was soggy.

But the price was worth it. Granted, they don't sell alcohol. But I wasn't mad at all at the bill. This place is not fine dining, it's the local Italian-Canadian neighbourhood resto we all had. This is theirs.

Had a good time. Simple. Not worth the trip from Montreal if you are just visiting though, there's better versions of this food.

I came into town from across the continent to visit my son, & to try Vivaldi after having watched Steve & Spiro's great recipe videos. It didn't disappoint! The garlic bread actually tasted of garlic, & with the Caesar salad (with romaine that was almost buttery), formed a perfect accompaniment to my seafood linguine in red sauce. Great mussels, scallops, shrimps & squid. Cooked perfectly, tender & not overcooked. Overall the meals were perfectly executed & came got to the table. Wait staff were friendly & helpful, which added to the dining experience. I'm looking forward to going back the next time I'm in town.

Ever since chef Steve's videos started popping up on my YouTube shorts, I told myself I'd eat at Vivaldi the next time I was in Montréal. The food looked amazing on screen, & I wanted to experience it in person.

One day the stars aligned when my friends & I did a Montréal day trip from Ottawa. The plan was, after a day of activities, to wrap up our trip by having dinner at Vivaldi before making the drive back. I need to make it known that this was one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. From the food to the service, everything was incredible.

Our waiter Max was attentive & on the ball with everything. His knowledge of the menu was high & his personality was friendly.

We even had chef Steve come to our table. He chatted with us for a bit about the restaurant & the YouTube channel. Super friendly guy & a great interaction! (To be fair, this was outside the dinner rush when he had a chance to step away from cooking for a couple of minutes).

I ordered the Linguine Amalfitana with a rosé sauce. & yes, it tasted as good as it looked.

I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in Montréal. Thank you for the lovely experience! It was one I won't forget.

I went there last Saturday with my partner. It was our anniversary & we mentioned it on the reservation. We have been there on 2 previous locations & were satisfied overall. This time it was not. I ordered the veal scallopini & it was not what i enjoyed two months earlier. I called the waiter & he told me they had changed the recipe. I asked to order something else & I was told no. I realized after that the veal was actually pork. The meat was white not brown, cooked veal is not white. The horrid new sauce has a topping of chopped ham & the plate smelt like smoked meat. The new pasta sauce was terrible. I ate maybe 25% of the plate. I also noticed you dont get bread unless you request it, They didn't offer it either.
When it came to pay the bill they did not change to the billing method to calculate the tip as was required by law since May 2025 . The credit card terminal gave you a subtotal including taxes before tip. It is supposed to be subtotal before tax.
Did they mention anything about our anniversary. No

Like a lot of people, we learned about Vivaldi from Steve's videos on social media, from his warm & friendly approach to showing us recipes. Our trip to Vivaldi did not disappoint! The fried zucchini chips & their sauce were a delight. Two us us got pizzas, our youngest the fettuccine alfredo, & my spouse one of the chicken dishes, & it was all excellent. We're definitely coming back!

We went out for a family celebration, a party of 6. We had been here before & thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone went with the Table D' Hôte menu. Two of us had the Caesar salad & the rest had the House salad, both were plentiful & enjoyable. I ordered the Veal Scallopini with capicollo, sage, red wine & demi-glace. I found the addition of cut up capicollo, a very strange addition to the dish & did not like the sauce at all. It came with a choice of vegetables or pasta with tomato sauce. After adding parmesan, pepper & chili peppers, it was good. I think, next time, I will stick with a pasta dish or seafood. The people who chose the Sautéed Shrimp
with wild mushrooms, garlic, brandy & cream enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of mushrooms & there were plenty in the dish. The menu also includes coffee or tea & a choice from their excellent dessert menu. I thought the Vanilla Crème Brulé was good (still waiting for the Chocolate Crème Brulé, which is better than Vanilla) & most of the table who chose the Strawberry Almond Cheese Cake, went crazy over it. The Bring Your Own Wine is a definite plus. Very loud & next to impossible to hear anyone unless they are talking in your ear.
