I went there last Saturday with my partner. It was our anniversary & we mentioned it on the reservation. We have been there on 2 previous locations & were satisfied overall. This time it was not. I ordered the veal scallopini & it was not what i enjoyed two months earlier. I called the waiter & he told me they had changed the recipe. I asked to order something else & I was told no. I realized after that the veal was actually pork. The meat was white not brown, cooked veal is not white. The horrid new sauce has a topping of chopped ham & the plate smelt like smoked meat. The new pasta sauce was terrible. I ate maybe 25% of the plate. I also noticed you dont get bread unless you request it, They didn't offer it either.
When it came to pay the bill they did not change to the billing method to calculate the tip as was required by law since May 2025 . The credit card terminal gave you a subtotal including taxes before tip. It is supposed to be subtotal before tax.
Did they mention anything about our anniversary. No
Like a lot of people, we learned about Vivaldi from Steve's videos on social media, from his warm & friendly approach to showing us recipes. Our trip to Vivaldi did not disappoint! The fried zucchini chips & their sauce were a delight. Two us us got pizzas, our youngest the fettuccine alfredo, & my spouse one of the chicken dishes, & it was all excellent. We're definitely coming back!
We went out for a family celebration, a party of 6. We had been here before & thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone went with the Table D' Hôte menu. Two of us had the Caesar salad & the rest had the House salad, both were plentiful & enjoyable. I ordered the Veal Scallopini with capicollo, sage, red wine & demi-glace. I found the addition of cut up capicollo, a very strange addition to the dish & did not like the sauce at all. It came with a choice of vegetables or pasta with tomato sauce. After adding parmesan, pepper & chili peppers, it was good. I think, next time, I will stick with a pasta dish or seafood. The people who chose the Sautéed Shrimp
with wild mushrooms, garlic, brandy & cream enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of mushrooms & there were plenty in the dish. The menu also includes coffee or tea & a choice from their excellent dessert menu. I thought the Vanilla Crème Brulé was good (still waiting for the Chocolate Crème Brulé, which is better than Vanilla) & most of the table who chose the Strawberry Almond Cheese Cake, went crazy over it. The Bring Your Own Wine is a definite plus. Very loud & next to impossible to hear anyone unless they are talking in your ear.
I went to Vivaldi last month for my birthday with my family, all the way from New Jersey. My expectations were high, & they were blown away. The food, service, everything was exceptional. Our waitress Jade was very friendly & attentive. The Gnocchi de la casa was spicy & smooth, Chicken de la casa was bursting with flavor, & the Chicken tetrazini was amazing.
The fried zucchini appetizer was crisp & delicious, & the sauce was great. The creme Brulee was the best I have ever had. The texture was fluffy & smooth, & the sweetness was just right.
Chef Steve even stopped by our table to say hi! If you like Vivaldi's YouTube videos & are curious, make the trip! You will have amazing food & exceptional service. This was a birthday I will never forget, & I hope to be back soon!
As we entered we were immediately greeted by some of the kindest staff I have ever encountered. Fluent English was a big help since my French is poor
Food was great, pizza was hot & fresh, generous amount of high quality toppings, flavourful sauce. Crispy but tender crust. Special shout-out to Steve on the home made sausage.
Caesar salad was so crisp & fresh, could taste the anchovies in the sauce, that or the most flavourful capers I have ever tasted lol. The small was more than enough to go with my pizza as I needed a to-go box to finish the pizza later on at home.
I had originally wanted to go there from seeing the YouTube videos. We actually changed the trip around last minute so we'd be able to make it for dinner without rushing the last day, you folks got busy very quickly once we were done our meal so I didn't get the chance to meet Steve. But, We will be back
Vivaldi!
I went to Vivaldi for my birthday dinner & left completely satisfied! They had a new type of veal scallopini with a Dijon mustard, pesto, white wine & cream sauce that was *incredible* & definitely belongs on the permanent menu. The minestrone was great, tender veggies & not too salty. For dessert, I had tiramisu & they certainly didn't skimp on the portion size! All in all a delicious & very reasonably priced meal.
Very nice little discovery.
Had fried calamari, nice batter, light well salted.
Had also grilled octopus, super crispy on the outside, nice & moist on the inside. Not rubbery or chewy.
As a main, we had seafood linguine & gorgonzola gnocchis. Both very delicious & generous portions. The sauce for the gnocchis was rich, creamy & cheesy.
Will go back to try something else.
Reservations are highly recommended.
My husband & I paid a visit to this restaurant last night.
First things first, the service is IMPECCABLE.
We reserved for 19:00, & the moment we sat down, our server almost immediately served us water & gave us a menu. A few minutes passed, then our server came again to check on us & asked us if we were ready to order, or if we needed more time (& we did need more time 😅), so he came back again to take our order (unfortunately, I don't remember our server's name, but he was efficient & knew how to do his job quite well!).
Unto the main dishes, we ordered Grilled Tunisian Octopus, & it was DELICIOUS!!! 🤤 The octopus was grilled to PERFECTION 👌 We also ordered The Fried Zucchini & Calamari combo. This appetizer was my husband's FAVORITE!!! 😁 Who knew fried zucchini would be so much better than fries!!! 🤩 The batter was not overwhelming. It was just the right amount for it to be crispy on the outside, yet still hold its form on the inside.
Shortly after our appetizer, our main dishes arrived! I got the Linguine Amalfitana (which is seafood pasta). The sauce was light & the linguine was al dente! The seafood consists of shrimps, scallops, mussels, & calamari. The scallops & calamari were cooked to perfection 👌 The shrimps were juicy 🤤 The mussels were fresh & yummy; our server even brought me a carving fork & a separate bowl for the mussels ☺? My husband chose the Tortellini Rosé & boy oh boy did he LOVE IT! It was nice & creamy, yet not overbearing. Also, we loved the flavor of the stuffed meat! We also got the Figlia Pizza on the side. The variety & the textures of the vegetables pair well with the cheese & dough.
Last but not least, DESSERT! I chose the Strawberry Almond Cheesecake, & my husband chose the Vanilla Crème Brûlé. These options were recommended by our server, & he definitely knew what he was talking about! 😄 The custard in the crème brûlé was light & not too sweet! My cheesecake was tasty, too! The strawberry syrup complimented the cheesecake so well, & the whipped cream they served with it was light & airy . It was a great way to end an awesome first visit at Vivaldi!
We 💯% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Italian Restaurant on the West Island! What a GEM!!! 💎
I wanted to be happy with this restaurant as the last time I had gone was pre-covid & I loved it. Decided to go back again on Valentine's day with my husband. When we arrived the restaurant was full to capacity, but we had a reservation & were seated almost immediately, at a quaint little corner, which was quite pleasing to us.
We decided to order from the table d'hote, I got the grilled salmon & my husband the 14oz AAA steak (medium / rare). After our waiter took our order, he then mentioned that the steak does not include the peppercorn sauce & there would be an extra charge for it (we have never paid extra for the peppercorn sauce at any other restaurant before), nevertheless we still ordered it. When we finally got our food (maybe about 45 min later) we were not very impressed.....my grilled salmon was just ok, cooked right but not much flavor, my roasted vegetables were raw & tasteless & the kicker was my husband's steak which was super rare & not cooked in the middle. Good thing he ordered the extra sauce so he can cook his meat in it.
We then ordered our dessert & coffee, which again the waiter failed to tell us that espresso & cappuccinos would be extra.
I really hope the kitchen pays more attention to the food they dish out, because I would like to return again at some point.
Last night, we had the pleasure of dining here, & it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm & inviting, setting the stage for a memorable evening. We started with a selection of appetizers that truly set the tone for the meal. The octopus was simply amazing, perfectly cooked & seasoned. The Caesar salad was fresh & crisp, & the Napoletana pizza was a delightful blend of flavors, with a perfect crust & rich toppings. For our main courses, we indulged in a variety of dishes. The seafood pasta was a standout, with a generous mix of fresh seafood & a flavorful sauce. The tortellini with vegetables was equally impressive, offering a hearty & satisfying option. The veal with pasta was tender & delicious, complementing the other dishes beautifully. To finish off our meal, we enjoyed the crème brûlée & tiramisu. Both desserts were exceptional, providing a sweet & satisfying end to our dining experience. Overall, our evening was very enjoyable. The food was consistently great, & the service was attentive & friendly. We will definitely be returning soon for more!
I ordered two sausage subs for takeout, but I found it reeeally dry. It only takes me 10min to get home from the restaurant, so it could not be becasue of that. Strange becasue I heard alot of good reviews regarding the sub. I`m just wondering if there was supposed to be a sauce or vinigrette for it that may have been forgotten to be put on? Other than that, I normally eat dine-in & get either the veal or gnocci, & those are always a 5/5.
I ordered the veal al limone with a side of fettuccine Alfredo. The veal was thicker than expected, but it was delicious & very tender. The pasta was excellent but the portion was on the small side. We ordered some calamaris, they were good but there was only one tomatoe-ish sauce (from a jar) & no white sauce - for 25$, I expected better.
Ok. So I reviewed the reviews of this restaurant & immediately got the feeling that this is a version of the famous sources boulevard Italian eateries called Del Friscos. I happen to generally enjoy Del Friscos so I thought I would try Vivaldis. So here is the review. Interior. Basic & lacking sound absorption so it's quite a noisy place - but so is Del Friscos for the same reason. Value. Portion is reasonable as is the freshness of ingredients. In terms of what you're going to eat as a dish on the whole this is a little different. We had a house salad, cheese pizza, & chicken Parmesan with tomato sauce & noodles as its accompaniment. The pizza sauce lacked zest & it tasted on the bland side. The dough was fine in flavour & texture but was a very floppy crust line a dominos or pizza pizza crust & you can only eat this by folding the slice it using a knife & fork. Salad was a good portion with nice ingredients though appears bland as there is no flair to it such as shaved Parmesan or colourful veggies except for a hot pepper. The chicken parm was the weakest dish. The chicken was about 25% while the breading was about 75% & was also cooked too much & tasted somewhat burnt. When you cut into the chicken all the breading fell off indicating poor technique in the breading if the chicken. The size of the thinned out chicken breast was actually not very large are you remove all the breading & as such your made to think you have a large portion with all the cheese covered breaded chicken, where in fact there very little chicken which at near $30 it should have a decent sized piece of chicken. An example of a proper sized chicken breast can easily be seen at Del Friscos where it's always juicy (here it was thin & consequently dry), moist, tender, lightly breaded where the breading remains on the chicken when you cut into it. Additionally there is not sufficient sauce which is one of the cheapest ingredients & should not be skimped on. As with the pasta it was really nothing special. A small portion of noodles & then a lack lustre tomato sauce. I like more sauce to my pasta as it's what it's all about, unless you have fresh pasta. & as such asked for extra sauce. There was no extra sauce & the noodles were lightly touched with the sauce. Now some people believe that this is the way to eat their noodles however I am not of the same kind. So if you enjoy little sauce with your pasta the. You are just fine. The slightly warmed buns we fine & had a lovely aroma, however, the type of bread they use makes it not as soft & a harder chewy crusty that's even a slight challenge to test it apart in two. Not that the issue is strength to split, the point is to have a light airy almost pollowy roll. Bring your own wine is nice. Service was adequate as well. The audience appears to be a majority of 55 years & older so perhaps this is like a Miami early bird crowd. Not a date night place.
Best sub in the West Island & great value. They have a takeout special: 14" sub, fries & a soft drink for $22. It's easily enough for 2 people & delicious Just missing a Hot Sauce (hint hint).
