June 2026 update:
They moved to St-Laurent street & recently reopened (soft launch until end of month). They have trompe-l'oeil. Vegan & gluten-free. I am amazed! I tried all of them & my favorites are cacao & pistachio. The cacao is decadent, if you are a chocolate lover, you will be pleased. Definitely to be shared. The pistachio is delicious, lighter mouse & lovely praline. The lemon is very lemon forward, too much for me, but if you love lemon that's the one for you. The mango disappointed me, it was good, but the mango chunks through me off, the chunks tasted lime mango from fruit cups & it just ruined the dessert for me, my boyfriend still liked it. Overall great. So happy a montreal business is doing them vegan & gluten-free. Keep going vegateau team. What will be next? Raspberry? Peanut? Even if they stick with those 4, I will definitely be back. The cacao & pistachio trompe l'oeil are my favorite things they sell.

Amazing business! Everything is delicious: ice cream, sugar cone, tartlet, & cupcakes. I had the coffee ice cream, choco chip oce cream, caramel cupcake, brownie, & lemon tart. Everything was great. The staff is lovely! Great presentation too :)
I tried this place twice on UberEATS. The most recent experience with their cupcakes was very disappointing. The cupcake was very dry. The'frosting' had a skin on it - a thick one, kind of like gravy when you don't stir it often enough.
I tried the lemon cupcake, the raspberry & their chocolate one - each one was dry & all three frostings had a skin on them. After trying them, I threw them all out. Not sure if this is what vegan is supposed to taste like or if the cupcakes were not fresh but given the amount of positive reviews, I was quite surprised I had such a poor experience.
**I did try removing the skin to access the fresher icing, but the skin just mixed it which made for a very unpleasant texture.
Definitely the best chocolate chip cookie of the whole Island! I strongly recommend…You also totally forget that it's vegan, it's rich, buttery & tasty :)
The lemon meringue tart & chocolate tart were to die for! Excellent service. The pastries are beautiful & delicious.
I was very impressed with this vegan pastry shop. Loved it. First, the desserts are a gorgeous work of art. Very fancy! 2nd, everything I tasted was delicious.3rd, I applaud their sustainability efforts which is important to me. I only support 100% vegan establishments whenever possible & available to me. & they don't use palm oil! They make their own butter! 4th, the owner was really nice. On a side note, I believe that all the desserts are gluten free. I am not gluten free, & not going to lie- I normally avoid most gluten free desserts, because the rare moments I eat dessert I want it to be an indulgent experience not necessarily a healthy one. But it's a win-win if the dessert can be tasty & healthy. Well Vegateau's desserts are a decadent & indulgent experience & a healthier treat! Aside from the cookies, I really couldn't tell that any of the desserts were gluten free (gf). That is a high compliment when a chef can make something vegan &/or gluten free & you feel like you are eating the real thing. That said, my favorite items I tried were: the vegan & gf butter cookie dipped in chocolate; the eclairs, iced chocolate drink & the opera cake. The eclairs are so gorgeous! I have been vegan for 30 years & this was my first time eating a vegan eclair & it made me very happy. Their homemade chocolate is of high quality. If we lived in Montreal, I would come often!
Vegateau is my favourite new find in Montreal featuring delicious vegan & sans gluten desserts. Their Coconut vanilla ice cream is incredible,
the chocolates were delicious,
amazing eclair which was the best I've ever had. We go back daily while visiting, vegans & non-vegans will love this place.
This shop carries a small but beautiful selection of desserts, all vegan & gluten-free. I had the chocolate & pear tart, at the recommendation of staff. It was tasty enough, though not the best of the GF desserts I've found in the city. Wouldn't recommend it for non-vegan/GF folks.
We ordered the chocolate, coconut, & almond cake for my daughters birthday. It was not a pleasant experience. The cake was too dry, almost felt unedible. Would not recommend. Had high hopes, feeling let down
