About

Tsujiri Montreal specializes in authentic Japanese tea-based treats, highlighting high-quality matcha and toasted hojicha in both chilled and warm preparations. The menu balances these rich, earthy tea profiles with sweet pastries, soft-serve parfaits, and savory warm noodle bowls like ramen and soba. Each item emphasizes natural ingredients, from the deep green powder in the drinks to the tender texture of the noodle dishes. The interior provides an open, modern setting equipped with functional amenities such as wireless internet access for a quiet environment. Every dessert arrives with an aesthetic presentation, often layering textures through components like light jellies and syrups to balance the bolder flavors. This shop maintains a steady flow of traditional Japanese snacks alongside these signature tea creations.

Review Summary

Tsujiri Montreal is widely recognized as a go-to destination for matcha enthusiasts, offering an extensive menu that features high-quality tea, flavorful lattes, and a variety of aesthetically pleasing desserts like parfaits, cakes, and soft-serve ice cream. Many patrons appreciate the authentic, balanced flavors that are not overly sweet, and the spacious, calming interior makes it a popular spot for meeting friends or studying. While the food, particularly the ramen and soba, receives frequent praise, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in drink preparation and the occasional issue with noise levels or crowding. Despite mixed feedback regarding service speed and the need for better maintenance of the premises, the general consensus remains that it is a valuable spot for those seeking a Japanese-inspired café experience in the city.

I typically solely focus on the food, but I do have to give the cafe its props for the great atmosphere & kind staff. As for the food, I would not recommend any of the noodle dishes especially their udon since I find them bland. However, in my opinion, it is typical for Japanese cuisine to be light. Their lattes & desserts remain delectable considering their expertise in that field.

Quality matcha for delicate taste. I've been here a lot over the years & that says something. I really loved their cakes as it's not too sweet & creamy. I liked eating their cold noodles on a hot day in summer. Although, their drinks might be a bit sweet for some people (for example below, Hojicha milk tea blended), but I liked the level of sweetness. It might be hard to talk as the ambience can be a bit loud due to the blender blending loudly or people chatting. Overall, recommended coming here on dates, studying, or chatting with friends. It has that calming Japan feel.

Tsujiri is THE most famous green tea brand in all Japan. Consequently they usually also have the best dark green tea ice cream in the world. However at this branch they did not offer the typical 3 flavor tiers of green tea ice cream (mild, medium, dark) & only the generic mild which is not what they are famous for… yuzu tea is good. Otherwise I do not recommend. Zenmai Matcha around the corner has a slightly better generic mild green tea ice cream (probably Maeda-En supplier?)

Absolutely in love with their new limited sakura series!! 🌸 Everything tastes so good!! I highly recommend the mousse cake & the latte 😊💕 It's so rare to see sakura flavored drinks & sweets in Montreal. I hope they repeat this menu every year 🥹

20251227 Update: More parfait & dessert images added.

2024: Tsujiri is famous for their world renowned green tea & this shop carried with its name is famous for their matcha dessert. All desserts created with Japanese aesestics. Visually appealing, look simple & complex in making. If you are first time here, I would like to recommend their green tea soft serve icecream products such as parfaits, or as simple as green tea ice cream in the cone. I am sure you won't disappointed. They also serve hot dishes such as ramen & green tea udon that you are rarely find in North America.

My go-to place for Matcha or Hojicha lattes. Their unagi dashe is so good & I've had too many to count. Ambiance is really nice too, & the staff always super professional, calm & helpful. Would so, so recommend.

Been here several times. Service is friendly & feels just like you are in Tokyo. They were able to give this franchise the right feel. Even if you aren't into matcha, there are many things to eat. The ramen is pretty good & better than some I've had in Japan. Price is reasonable. Tempura shrimp are good but not great. The batter just isn't light & airy enough. Desserts are delicious but too pricey in my opinion. Will be back & recommend.

This cafe is a famous matcha brand in Japan. I ordered tiramisu & hojicha latte. The sponge of the tiramisu was very dry & hard, so it's not tasty. I didn't really taste the matcha, so I don't recommend it. The hojicha latte had a refreshing hojicha aroma, but it might be better to buy it yourself on Amazon or make it yourself using hojicha powder from another matcha shop. It's a good place to relax when you're feeling a bit tired after walking around downtown.
