TSUJIRI was founded in 1860 by Riemon Tsuji who was renowned for his spirit of “YUWA”, meaning "continue to innovate and sustain the tradition". His statue was built in Kyoto, Japan to honor his contribution to the Japanese tea industry. Mr. Tsuji has refined the cultivation of Gyokuro (the highest grade of Japanese green tea) and his method is still being used to this day. He is also the inventor of the tea box that preserves the longevity and freshness of the tea leaves during transportation, making fresh tea from Kyoto available to other Japanese cities a century ago. In 2010, CHAHO, which means tea shop in Japanese, was first established outside of Japan to carry on our founder’s spirit and to serve fresh tea to our customers worldwide.

Review Summary

Reviews describe Tsujiri Montreal as a popular destination for matcha fans with a broad menu of desserts drinks and some savory options like ramen and soba; matcha is praised for richness and authenticity though some items are described as less strong or overly sweet and a few desserts feel pricey or inconsistent in quality; the atmosphere is often described as cozy and Japanese inspired with ample seating good for studying or catching up but it can get crowded and noisy in peak hours; service is generally friendly and professional with staff helpful and attentive though isolated rude experiences are noted; the cafe also receives compliments for its modern decor and variety of offerings like hojicha yuzu and kuromitsu desserts; overall it comes across as a top choice for matcha in Montreal delivering strong matcha desserts and drinks in a welcoming setting with some items needing closer consistency.

I like the interior design, very fancy decor. Service was polite, welcoming & professional. I ordered an iced matcha latte. I was asked if I wanted regular sugar & responded yes. Unfortunately I didn't taste any sweetener, only matcha which was a shame. Compared to the other matcha cafes nearby, this iced matcha latte is a bit more expensive. I do appreciate that they didn't put too much ice since I tend to drink them fast.

My go-to place for Matcha or Hojicha lattes. Their unagi dashe is so good & I've had too many to count. Ambiance is really nice too, & the staff always super professional, calm & helpful. Would so, so recommend.

Very busy in the afternoon but their matcha lattes & hot teas are very good. They have plantbased milk options.

I like cake & I like carriage latte, but I don't think I'll buy cake here.

We got the O-matcha cake, an iced matcha latte, & an iced hojicha latte. Everything looked & tasted great! Very cute pastries & the ice cream looks yummy! Nice staff & quick service!

We come to here every time we are in Montreal. I love the black sesame cake very much. We also ordered chestnut mont blanc & matcha latte this time.

This cafe is a famous matcha brand in Japan. I ordered tiramisu & hojicha latte. The sponge of the tiramisu was very dry & hard, so it's not tasty. I didn't really taste the matcha, so I don't recommend it. The hojicha latte had a refreshing hojicha aroma, but it might be better to buy it yourself on Amazon or make it yourself using hojicha powder from another matcha shop. It's a good place to relax when you're feeling a bit tired after walking around downtown.

I had high expectations when a friend recommended this place, but unfortunately, I left very disappointed. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt disorganized & unwelcoming, their terrace was a mess, the staff didn't seem engaged or happy to be there. The display was poorly stocked (only two dessert options available at 1pm). I ordered an iced matcha latte that was decent, but my friend's drink, which was supposed to be lightly sweetened, came out far too sweet. Overall, not the experience I was hoping for.

I'm sooo happy i found a new matcha café in Montreal ! Im a big matcha drinker so im always looking for real strong matcha.

I tried the matcha latté & it was DELICIOUS ! I cannot wait to try the other items on the menu.

The place is big, lots of seating inside but also outside.

I just wished it was open in the morning! 😫

While staying in Montreal for 3 days, we've visited Tsujiri 3 times because we enjoyed the Hojicha that much! The Softserve was creamy! The Latte refreshing! Wished they had one here in Philly!

This was our go-to spot for good-quality matcha. The matcha shiratama parfait & matcha latte were rich in flavour. Not too sweet. The lighting in the place was a bit dark for our taste in terms of ambience, but overall, it was a 10/10 for anything matcha-related.

Ordered their signature parfait & matcha latte. Their matcha quality is ok not too great. Their parfait was disappointing for the price. Specially when you are just one block away from Matcha Zanmai. I think they need to up their game with the quality of the matcha & the parfaits. Their atmosphere & seating arrangements were good.

Amazing food: dishes, desserts & drinks. We loved it so much we came every day during our stay in Montreal. Service was great, especially the man with glasses who was very kind & attentive. We wish we could come back, but sadly we live in another continent.

Iced matcha latte was okay. The atmosphere is super cute & feels like Japan, almost Starbucks reserve like.

Clean & overall cute spot.

This place is amazing for your matcha fix. Their desserts & food options are so good & the location is great (ample seating & clean).

I recommend any matcha latte, the ice cream, the matcha cheesecake, & the tiramisu.

Fast service & friendly staff.

I'm a big matcha fan so I needed to come to this place & try the tiramisu: it's delicious! It has a great texture, there was a lot of matcha powder on top though. The matcha latte was great too! The place was full of people working remotely, & it's a big place when you enter the cafe. I recommend :)
