The food is Great (Jerk Chicken Mac&Cheese was perfect the plantain sweet as always ) the drinks too ! I really enjoyed my experience. It’s a nice spot to go on a date or by yourself.

It was a not fully packed Friday night, my friends & I ordered our drink which are exquisite.
The Jerk Chicken Mac & Cheese was delicious. The place looked in fact tropical. The service was on point.

The only reason why it’s not a five star is that we waited almost an hour for the food. Even when the food arrived it didn’t arrive at same time. There was a huge time lapse between some of us. The part I couldn’t understand is how my fries only arrived when everyone finished the meal.View more

Absolutely love this place but was a bit disappointed by the tickets for brunch. It should ve been mentioned somewhere that food was only served till 3pm as it said brunch was from 1 to 6pm. I got there at 3pm & we couldnt eat as kitchen had closed . & I we couldnt sit anywhere either as all chairs where taken... so basically paid a ticket to go in have one drink standing up & leaving ..

The service was unfortunately disappointing. It took us 40 min for a waiter to come take our drink order. We didn't order as much as we had originally wanted because we saw how long it took just to have our orders taken. Considering that there is a time limit on the tables , we should expect to be served faster. 2 hours max - but got our food & drinks after 1 hour 15m of being there . We were thirsty & hungry by the time we left. The vibe was alright . The appetizers was good. Table was small for 3 people . Overall, didn't live up to the hype.

Delicious & exotic cuisine. Fantastic ambiance. Professional & friendly staff. Great music. I had a wonderful birthday night. I came for the culinary experience during dinner time, & stayed for the music. My friends & I really enjoyed the experience & go back any other night during the week for drinks, dinner, & for the music. If you're looking for an immersive caribbean experience, I would highly recommend Tropikàl!

very good restaurant. Food was amazing , drinks tasted good , ambiance was good , service was great. & the resturant itself was very beautiful. The reason for 4 stars is because 1. The drinks are very overpriced. I appriciate the quality of the drinks however I personally found it expensive. 2. The fact that it was reservation only. I wanted a booth when I arrived from my 6pm reservation. When I left at 715pm the same table were still not sat. So maybe just proving people an opportunity to sit at the booths between reservations. But overall , I would come back again & loved this place.

Food was decent. I find it was overall overpriced.
Staff was cordial but couldn't help but find we were being rushed to free the table we dined in at.
As the bar/party time was in about 1 hour.
We could've just kept enjoying a few more drinks sitting down.
But overall we enjoyed a nice evening out with some friends.

On a aimée notre soirée, malgré un peu dispendieux pour ce qu'ils offrent dans les plats.. Notre service à deservie la table sans demander si tout était terminé & il restait le un peu moins que la moitié du drink à ma cousine.. A 16$ le verre elle aurait bien appréciée le terminer😅

Tropikal was one of the best places we tried in Montreal ! We loved the ambiance the drinks were good ..could be a little stronger but we recommend you get the strawberry mojito it really was a breeze of fresh air with a hint of get me ready for the after party (hip/hop /Afro beats )which are on fridays & Saturdays we went on a Saturday now let's get to the food the star of the show was the Rasta pasta , the jerk chicken & the guava wings are a must the jerk was seasoned to a T , the Rasta pasta was a mix up of Haitian , Trinidadian & African flavors all mixed into one you can add meat of your choosing for extra we got the lobster but it's also stands on its own the Mac & cheese was good if you like a milder cheesy pasta dish & don't sleep on the cheesy callalloo dip w/ the plantain chips ! The chef was really cool he touched on his inspirations for the dishes as well as the fact he changes the menu every 6 months which we will be back to check it out for the next menu! It is definitely a vibe our server Danielle is the best & was filled w/ recommendations 2 things 1. get there on Time 2 hr seating only & 2.have the best time !

This was a first for me! Worst experience I've ever experienced.
Me & a group of friends drove 2 hours to try this restaurant. We reserved a good 10 days in advanced to avoid any complications.
When we arrived at the restaurant, gave my name - advised I reserved, the host told us we would need to wait another 15mins because a group of 26 people just sat down, i said "Okay no problem" we were waiting outside taking advantage of the great weather, taking pictures etc, I came back after 30mins since no one was giving us any updates, this time there was a different host in the front & she said " It will take another 30mins" I told her I had booked my reservation 10 days ago & we are not local, I also mentioned that the first host said it would take 15mins & now you are telling me another 30mins which means I was now waiting for 1hr, she then added that the kitchen closes at 10:00pm. At this point my friends & I was getting frustrated because the customer service was very bad. One of the host then said " you guys can sit outside" not sure why they didn't mention to us from the beginning. We finally decided to just sit outdoors which we didn't really planned to, since we heard the inside was a better experience.
We waited a while before we even got some glass of water brought to our table, when someone did, they didn't even say hi or anything, plus the water was warm - no ICE! One of the host saw our mood & felt bad & offered us some shots to beginning (we appreciated that very much) She then proceeded to taking our orders after we asked who will be serving us since no one other than the waitress who brought the water. We were READY to place our orders since we were told kitchen was closing at 10:00pm. We ended up ordering both appetizers, main dish & drinks! Well, well! our appetizers came before our drinks!!!!!! don't get me wrong their food is a solid 10/10, we were satisfied with the food but when it comes to their customer service it was crap! After we ate we decided to stay for the club part since the waitress told us "how it works" but then was miscommunicate. Let me explain " she told us if we ate here then we can go inside & have a table, she did mention if we wanted to take a bottle they were between $150-$200" When we got inside it was A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY". We then proceeded to taking more shots, we waited 30 mins for 6 shots! At this pint we asked the waitress if she can keep then coming since she said "the bar is very busy" asked her how to proceed with getting a bottle/table said she will inquire & come back - waitress never came back. we left the high table where we were initially at & proceeded to the bar. The bar only had ONE bartender serving the whole restaurant/lounge how is that even possible?!?! While waiting we saw a waitress asked her if we could have a table she said " hold on i'll be right back" she also never came back to talk to us. Then a bartender came to help at the bar, FINALY took our order, again we ordered shots! when we paid she said " you guys could have gotten a bottle" told her that's what we've been trying to do but no one is responding to us. Just so you guys understand the service was bad from beginning to the END. At this point we were very disappointed since we were "okay, we will look into getting you a table" to one of the bartender yelling at us for not giving her a 15% tip because of the shitty service we were getting. She said, i quote "We will not be serving you, if you won't be tipping us". We looked at her, left our drinks & left the lounge. I would suggest the owner to better train his employee because the customer service level was VERY SHITTY. I've heard negative things about this restaurant prior to going there I didn't believe it & wanted to see it for myself & best believe it's true! A 2hr drive wasted because of shitty customer service.

Fantastic service & ambiance but drinks are watered down & the jerk chicken is a missed opportunity. Chicken was semi-warm with rubbery skin & the marinade was pasty as the raw spices had not been cooked. The oxtail tacos were one note that could have benefited from a crunchy slaw for a little bit of acidity. Overall disappointing.

We found this an odd experience...overall good food but poor service, & one of the rum drinks (tropikal passion) tasted like water. It took a long time for anyone to greet us or take drink orders. Our server spent more time on her iPad than talking to us, & was confused by our order each time. We liked the jerk chicken wings, ceviche was weird & soupy, great prawn tacos. They were out of oysters (though I saw a platter go by), & no mint meant our drink order wasn't possible (but mint is not mentioned in the drink description). We also ordered the po' boy sandwich, which never arrived. We'd had enough, so used the e-payment system (no sign of the sandwich on the bill) & quickly left. Would not recommend - decent food doesn't make up for poor service & drinks missing alcohol.

The food was delicious quick service. The staff Clara & Ciara were super nice, friendly. the only things is we were at the bar but they were actually table to seat from the moment we arrive to the end, this way we weren't on other people convo & business.The air can be a little smokey & uncomfortable. The place is very nice, its a bit like a super club. If you want to enjoy a nice well marinated meal before heading somewhere else afterwards, very nice option & easy parking. If you looking to hang out drink eat tapas style carabean food its better to reserv after 8.. in addition,some of the staff look like they dint know how to be busy... little bit more training on this part.

Went with my wife around 7pm on a Saturday, hostess tried seating us at the bar saying there's no tables available. Restaurant was empty. When I reserved a week in advance I booked a table in the restaurant so not sure what changed. After some confusion got a small table & hostess reminded us again we have the table for 2 hours lol. Poutine with lobster was good. Ordered the Jerk chicken & Rasta pasta it came out within 2mins of us ordering it. Didn't know that's possible. Drinks were subpar. Beer was good only one option. Waitress was nice & helpful. Not sure if the place wants to be a restaurant or a bar or club? I guess it's all three. Felt like the the club was more important than the food.

Mac & cheese was amazing, wings was good but a little dry, plantains perfect & it came with a sauce, I can't remember the name but it was good. For my drink, I got the Tropikal passion, I'm not a drinker so it was a little strong. My friend got the Bon bagay drink that was very good. Staff was amazing.

Food is always excellent. I had requested & thankfully gotten a table this time, so it was extra pleasant to lean back & relax a bit. Service is always courteous & attentive. Drinks were exceptional (Salassi & Pink Thing... yeeeeum). I like to oder "tapas style" from the apps whilst my husband took a plate. Hes a BIG football player type dude & needed a doggy bag to take home - that's saying alot about portions. All on all 10/10.

L'endroit est bien aménagé, l'ambiance est agréable. Toutefois, les tables pour les réservations de 2 personnes sont très très proches donc aucune intimité possible.

Le goût de ma pieuvre grillé était bien mais trop grillé & la petite sale de coriandre était trop épicée!. L'accompagnement de patate avec sauce au curry était goûteux.

Ce qui me fait mettre 3 étoiles était le service. Il y a eu plusieurs erreurs & surtout qu'ils ont envoyé les entrées une fois le plat principal presque terminé. De plus, j'ai trouvé ca ordinaire de se faire mettre dehors après notre repas....
Pour finir, le drink tropical passion était délicieux!

Mis à part cela, ça été une belle découverte.

Très déçue d'avoir reçu les drinks 1h après notre arrivée, mais la nourriture était excellente. La serveuse était aussi très bonne & courtoise. Gros coup de coeur. Je vais y retourner avec d'autres amiEs!
