Review Summary

Overall, Tropical Paradise earns high marks for authentic Caribbean flavors, with roti that is freshly made and silky, oxtail that is fall off the bone tender, and a range of dishes like goat doubles, jerk chicken, curry goat roti, doubles, and mango puffs that reviewers call delicious and consistently excellent. Portions are big, flavors are rich and well seasoned, and the service is fast and friendly, with a welcoming vibe that keeps customers coming back. Several reviewers highlight it as a go to for Caribbean comfort food in Montreal, noting fair prices, good takeout options, and a convenient location near Snowdon, sometimes with a terrace. While the majority praise the quality and atmosphere, there are a few critiques such as dishes being too salty, oxtail tasting sweeter than some expect, a boneless curry goat roti, and one double being dry; still, the overall consensus is that Tropical Paradise offers fresh, flavorful food, strong variety, and consistent value that makes it a standout choice for Caribbean cuisine in the area.

Had the oxtail at Tropical Paradise & it was excellent - truly fall-off-the-bone tender & full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh, the portion size was generous, & the service was incredibly fast. I barely had time to sit down before the food came out. On top of that, the staff were really friendly & welcoming. Solid spot if you're looking for great Caribbean comfort food in Montreal. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic food every time. The roti is cooked perfectly. The doubles are my favorite. It's hard to get good doubles outside of Trinidad & Toronto. Montreal doesn't really have many options. A lot of places microwave their frozen doubles & serve it to you. You can tell it's made fresh.

To the person that had a review with'These people aren't even Jamaican, they're Indian!' yea &? ever hear of Indo-Caribbean people in Trinidad & Guyana. They didn't claim to be a Jamaican restaurant, it's just a Caribbean restaurant. Jamaican people aren't the only people to make Caribbean food.

Definitely one of my favorite places to get Caribbean food.

3.5 stars - Despite the food actually being fairly good, & some of the better Caribbean i've had in Montreal, I had a few issues with our order. First & foremost, the double was not a double. By definition a double contains a chickpea curry so I was expecting that plus the protein (chicken) & the traditional sauces. No chickpeas (thus no curry) & no sauce, just over cooked / dry chicken. The flavor of the chicken was good but still very disappointing as a meal. The jerk chicken plate, again tasted good, but was also over cooked & dry, even the dark meat. Again no hot sauce or anything to help with moisture. Ive never ordered from a Caribbean restaurant that didn't give hot sauce &/or picklez on the side. Also everything comes in a trio which means pop & rice. We don't drink pop & find it odd to give rice with a roti. No option to choose what your side or drink is. (I would have gladly taken sorrel & coleslaw.) I feel like more flexibility in ordering would have enhanced the meal.

Delicious food & great cook, I've ordered multiple times over the past years. The jerk chicken is 10/10, the curry goat roti is also 10/10. You can't really go wrong when ordering out or eating in, the food is always 10/10 The prices might be a little high but it's worth the price you're paying i've never regretted it once ordering a $50-$60 meal from here. I always receive great quality compared to other less desirable Caribbean places.
