I came here for valentine's day & was very impressed with the food. It is very flavourful, playful, & well presented. We got the anchovy toast, the tuna tostada, the half roasted chicken, the patatas bravas, & the churro. The anchovy toast was banging, the tuna tostada was really amazing, patatas bravas... you can't go wrong with them. However, the half roasted chicken I was slightly disappointed with. Given the fact that this chicken was the precursor for the whole restaurant I was surprised it was a bit dry. Flavour-wise it was very yummy, the skin was delicious, but the meat itself felt like it had been stuck in the oven a bit too long. Finally, the churro was GREAT! But.. slow to arrive, more on that below.
Now onto the service. I realize that we went on a relatively busy night, but the food came out unbelievably inconsistently. The servers were very charming, & definitely made me feel better about the wait, but it was just strange. The first two dishes came out super quickly. I'm talking within 10 minutes of us ordering. However, the chicken & patatas bravas probably took another 40 minutes to come. Finally, when we ordered the churros for dessert (which mind you are a quickly deep fried dish) it took another 20 minutes. Luckily, the company was lovely so the wait didn't feel so bad, however, if I was going any other time, or if I wasn't wanting to spend 2 hours there, I would have been quite disappointed.
Finally, the ambiance was very nice. Much more relaxed than their sister restaurant Alma. I think overall a 4/5 is a reasonable rating, & I would definitely go again, but maybe for a quick bite & a nice glass of wine.
Spanish inspired tapas style restaurant & wine bar. The service was great, & our host was very attentive & courteous, however the dishes were a hit or miss. The ceviche & tuna tostada were the highlight, but the mussels & patatas bravas were a bit disappointing. Also the prices for some the dishes are on the higher side & portions were tiny. I would recommend this restaurant is you want to enjoy a few glasses if wine & not planning on eating a big meal. They also have a huge selection of wine to choose from.
One of my favorite places currently for a delicious yet casual delivery of high-quality dishes with an exciting selection of Catalan, natural wines. The service is kind, but I find it a bit too pushy at times, repeatedly asking whether we wish to order more. I can understand a tapas menu indeed calling for repeated orders, but I would encourage management to relieve a bit of this pressure & trust their customers will order more as they feel compelled to do so by the overall atmosphere & relaxed mood of the place.
One of my husband & I's favourite restaurants in Montreal! The food is always on point & tasty (hello tostada), the atmosphere is cozy & laidback, & the service is so friendly! We always feel welcomed when we come dine. You can tell people come back often because the owners (chef Juan & wine expert Lindsay) always greet regulars like old friends. This place never misses! A true hidden gem in Montreal that we will come back to time & time again.
Had a great time at Tinc Set on a Saturday evening with a group of 6. Milan took really good care of us & the food was delicious. We tried many of the tapas, as well as, all of the mains & sides. Wine was really good & the churros were bomb! Definitely recommend visiting & tasting as many of the dishes as you can!
my dining companions & i had a wonderful evening, starting with attentive service, an introduction to the menu & the visiting vintner from Yoyo, who was showcasing her delicious wines. we ordered anchovies in green oil, sardines, octopus, a salad & some charred peppers. everything was delicious. the music was a touch loud, but it added to a festive ambiance.
Super nice service & delish olives & tapas, but I wish they had drinks for people who don't just enjoy natural funky wines & that their outdoor seats were a little more comfy. This is a fun place to stop at & it feels like a cozy hidden gem.
This place changed a lot since it opened. It's incredibly expensive for the quality & quantity. I keep trying again cause I used to like this place but I keep being disappointed recently. Super expensive food for the quality & the last 3 times I went I feel like the wine by the glass were all pass their prime. The atmosphere is good cause cute street & nice patio area.some plates are worth it like the churros. But otherwise I miss the old tinc set & Alma. It was a lot more humble. They are really pushing it on the price now.
It wasn't my first time at Tinc Set, but I can honestly say that it's always a pleasant experience. Their tapas are phenomenal, & every night they have 3 different types of wine, that they serve by the glass. Last Saturday the wines were a white, orange & red from Catalonia, all natural & privately imported. The service was outstanding, & the food was out of this world. I went with two of my friends & we practically ordered the entire menu. The dishes that truly stood out were the scallop ceviche, served on a bed of guacamole, the grilled octopus with mashed potatoes & chorizo oil, & tuna tostada , which was the most flavoured tostada , I had ever had. The sauce on tuna was made of smoke sea breem, it was creamy, zesty & had a great kick to it. Thd brussel sprouts were insane, deep fried with a creamy sauce made with anchovies. The churros are unconventional & a must try as well!
Great night. Fantastic wine selection & the sommelier helped us choose the exact wine we wanted. Very cosy, would definitely return again!
The waiter was extremely knowledgeable about all the wines in stock & gave an excellent description & suggestions. Makes me want to return to try the other wines he had suggested as well. As for the restaurant itself; the food was excellent & without any pretentious vibe or outdated dress code. Very warm, cozy & welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for top notch restaurants that won't break your budget or treat you snobby. It was wonderful
Great ambience & amazing orange wine but terrible service. I suspect they didn't like us because we're early 20s & anglo.Did not feel welcome & we left pretty quickly. Also do not come here just for a glass of wine, you have to order food. Oh & a glass of wine is really half a glass of wine.
So delicious that we came back the next day! Staff was fun, attentive, & friendly. Specials were delicious. Wine recommendations were on point!
Great little restaurant. Chicken & octopus were the highlights, octopus is really well cooked & tender. Very good selection of nature wines (not my thing but they still have a good selection :) ). Staff & owners were so nice, we even went with kids & they were really attentive to us. Will go back :)
Hi there,
I really hate to write these negative reviews, but what I hate even more is paying good money for relatively bad food. Just an fyi, I have been to many North American restaurants that offer Catalan cuisine, unfortunately this spot just does not do it. Environment is cute, & the staff were friendly but the food was really not there. Maybe consider going here if you want Catalonia natural wine & a small snack but that’s really it. Olives were not good, tostada was mid, the calamari for $23 was a burger with very minimal pieces of calamari on stale hard bun. Extremely disappointing- we ended up spending approx $250 ($70 on wine rest on food) did not stay for dessert. If you have money to burn & throw out would recommend- if you cherish your meals & are specific about good quality & tasteful artistic dishes would highly not recommend. Disappointing. All the best.
The food is actually pretty good if you're in for the fare they serve. A lot of the guests I came with did not like the food. It's also expensive, so that's why I rate the service so low. We came with a group of 12 & were served family style. When it came time for the bill with a split bottle of wine & two beer I paid $330 for my wife & I. The service was inattentive at best. The decor is shabby & run down as well. I felt like I was robbed. I would try something else before coming back here. Also the wines are straight up bad. You can't hide behind the quality by calling them organic even if they are.
