Our family went to eat at a repeatedly recommended restaurant on our visit to Montreal & we were not disappointed! Well done Ti Amo!
We (2A2C under 10) walked from our hotel to the restaurant just shy of 7pm on a Saturday & we were told we could sit at the window rail which we we rejected as we didn't want our two little ones to eat supper looking out at a few homeless laying on the street in front, then were offered at the kitchen counter. After a moment we changed our mind & decided to find somewhere else. The owner, Yusuf (I hope I got the spelling right), said he could arrange something for us & to wait a moment. He arranged sone seating & next thing we were sitting upstairs looking over the menus eager to sample that which we'd been told was a delight.
Scrumptious mells rose from the kitchen below & we eagerly ordered from our fantasticly attentive & personable waitress our appetizers, drinks, & main courses.
Bruschetta was bright, creative, & delicious. The veal meatballs were generous & filled with flavour. The octopus on the other hand was the star of the whole meal! Perfectly tender & bursting with flavour, it sat upon a gently spiced beet puree/mash adorned with roasted brussel sprouts which were the perfect counter for the richness of the octopus. Just SOOOO good!!
Our mains (which did take a little while if I'm being honest) were really good but was where a couple of errors brought the 5 star down to a 4. The lobster ravioli was delicate, rich, & not shy of lobster! The pizza which tasted fantastic was slightly undercooked leaving the dough floppy. Ingredients were top end & generous! The big oops was the Osso risotto. The osso was not trimmed properly & while ridiculously tender beef & perfectly seasoned, the fat/meat content was a 60/40 or 70/30 split. Our waitress totally agreed & Yusuf came by as well on the matter.
We then got a tiramisu which was light & full of flavour & it disappeared in a matter of seconds when it hit the table! Then a duo of canelloni with pistachios & chocolate was delivered by the owner himself to make up for the risotto slip. Absolutely delicious but moreso a great professional touch which spoke volumes about the place.
By the way...I'm classically trained chef of over 30 yrs who is super picky & it takes a lot to impress me!
Bottom line is that Ti Amo is a place to go if you like great food & great service run by a truly caring owner. We'll be back indeed!
Let's start with the food, the pizza was good, fluffy & cook just right. The appetizer we order was ok. The service was horrible, we were seated upstairs like most customers, restaurant wasn't full yet when we arrived. The waitress working there didn't provide any service at all, only the busboy was vey helpful. Even the manager had to take order because we waited at least 20 min, he should have help more somehow. You come to this place expecting at least some sort of service, if not I would just take a pizza to go & drink at home. We were so disappointed with the service that we didn't even want to get second drinks. For the service & attention they give to client , they have the audacity to set 18% as minimal tips. I gave that amount because the busboy deserved it, but the waitress deserved nothing for the service we received. She couldn't care less on how to read the whole area to know which table needed services, it's like begging to order foods. Not recommending this place if you want to have nice diner, there better place in downtown. Do take out instead.
Edited for some typo.
We went here with friends to celebrate a birthday & really enjoyed our time! The food was delicious overall. The only minor issue was that the bottom of the pizza was a bit burnt, but everything else was good.
I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of this restaurant. The interior design is beautiful, thoughtfully curated, & creates a unique vibe that makes the dining experience feel special from the moment you walk in. It's clear that a lot of effort has gone into every detail, from the décor to the presentation of both the food & drinks.
The food itself was delicious, with great flavors & high-quality ingredients. That said, two of the three pizzas we ordered were noticeably overcooked & had burnt crusts, which took away from what could have been an excellent meal. Hopefully, that was just an inconsistency rather than the norm.
The cocktails were another highlight although they were a bit overpriced. They were beautifully presented, creative, & visually impressive, with unique flavor combinations that made them fun to try. My only concern was that the glasses had a slight unpleasant smell, which made me wonder if they could be cleaned more thoroughly before serving. It's a small detail, but it can make a noticeable difference to the overall experience.
Despite those issues, I would still recommend giving this restaurant a try. The atmosphere is fantastic, the menu is creative, & the food & drinks have a lot of potential. With a little more attention to consistency & cleanliness, this place could easily become one of my favorites.
